MinnowsplashMinnowsplash never expected to have any sort of a family. She didn't have any intention of mothering kits, being tied to the nursery, or taking a break from her duties.
But everything changed in an instant.
The she-cat was on patrol, slinking through the sun-dappled shadows on the way to the edge of the territory beyond the cliffs, where the trees allowed the birds to happily roost and easy prey pickings resigned. The odd loner or far-flung kitty pet wasn't out of the question, and on this occasion the warrior wasn't particularly concerned. It wasn't until she had made her way through the narrow pass of stones leading towards the winding thunder path that she heard the first semblance of a noise.
"Who's there?" She meowed, turning her head. As she stood stark still, ears swiveling in the shade of the stones, she realized something. A faint whiff of a smell travelled through the air. The musk of another cat - no, two. She couldn't identify them too strongly, but she was sure they were outsiders, absolutely not from Sparkclan. And more than that, they had a changing scent to them, as if a great occurrence had occurred.
Minnowsplash slunk closer to the thunder path, her white tipped paws edging softly over the hardened ground, when she froze again. There, on the wind, there was the sound of... kits?
Inching forward, ever closer to the sound, she dipped her head into a crevice and spotted what had to be a nest of kits from whatever pair this had once been. Brushing away the downy soft feathers adorning the bundle, Minnowsplash's eyes lit with curiosity. An outstretched claw brushed on the soft fur. "I don't know where your family is." Her voice was soft as she burrowed her face in, the scents of the adult cats fading. "But I'll keep you safe until they come back, or until you grow enough to find them yourselves."
