Twinkling stars dappled the deep blue sky, their vibrant glow seemingly the only source of guidance on this otherwise dark evening. The wind struck long blades of grass, a soft whistle echoing off the surfaces of each blade. Soon, a silver figure made her way through the field, crouched to the ground. The fur of her chest tickled against the grass, her blue eyes locked forward. She was in search of something - but what? Her nose twitched for a moment, and with a deep inhale, she was off. She had moved into the night, weaving between each tree gracefully, as though she had a map of the entire clan's territory engraved into her head.

Then, her pupils enlarged. The aroma that struck her was mesmerizing - unfamiliar, and yet it screamed elegance, which piqued the magical molly's curiosity. With a sharp breath in, and a swing of her paw forward, a blue portal opened before her, and the silver molly flung herself for, emerging upon a tree branch. She landed before an unfamiliar molly, whose yellow eyes pierced through Lily's very soul. Lily watched as the cat stumbled backwards, her back pressing against the bark of the tree behind her.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!" The molly yipped. Lily stood in silence for a moment, looking the molly over. She had never scented her clan before, or any cat like her, yet she had made it this far into the clan's borders. After a moment of silence, Lily spoke, the tips of her ears heating up. The molly was beautiful - a feeling she had never felt before fluttered in her very being. "Uh.. sorry to scare you? I'm Lily. From the Heart of Decay."

"Cove.. What are you doing out here this late, I thought your clan scavenged during the day."

"I may.. or may not be adventuring." Lily grumbled, her voice laced with guilt. "Honestly, I caught your scent and it caught my interest. That sounds.. weirder out loud."

"It's fine. Just glad you're not hostile." Cove said with a smile.

A moment of silence was shared between them before Lily sat beside Cove on the branch. Their tails naturally touched one another, Lily's ears pinning back in surprise. But it was just one interaction. How could it hurt?

The two mollies danced in the moonlight, exchanging words with small smiles. That would be the first and last time Lily saw Cove.

Chickpea and Nutmeg met each other at their lowests.

Chickpea had recently inherited her family farm, and was finding that it was not all that she had hoped it would be. With her parents out traveling and her sister's departure to start a new life somewhere else, she felt the lack of family on the farm more than anything. Nutmeg -- at the time, Django -- was still transitioning to a new life in a new world, with the unfamiliar concepts of economy and money.

They met outside the town's local cafe, Django studying the windows and trying to practice the "reading" he was slowly being taught, while Chickpea was distracted and bumped into him. She offered to buy him something, both apologetic for running into him and intrigued by his confusion. She learned that he was a newcomer from outside the Edge, used to a comfortable, semi-famous streetcat life. He was living with Cinderstrike for the time being -- or, rather, living in Cinderstrike's small home alone while Cinderstrike was off adventuring outside the Nest's walls. The two got along well, and Chickpea offered to meet him there again the next week to help him practice reading. He agreed.

Chickpea found a new sense of companionship in their weekly meetings, and Django found himself adjusting better and better to his new life with a friend by his side. He still didn't quite have the sense of purpose that he had left behind his old life to find, though. That is, until Chickpea offered to let him move in at her farm.

Django couldn't stay with Cinderstrike forever (the tom spent so little time in town that his home was small and far from comfortable), and Chickpea still desperately needed extra help with the farm work. Django was very adamant that he had never worked before and had no idea where to start, but would love to learn if Chickpea would be willing to teach, which she was happy to do. With his newfound friendship and job, Django felt he was finally starting to fit into his new life. Chickpea felt she was finally adjusting to her new farm ownership as well.

When her parents came back from their trip to visit, their outside perspective of the two's relationship helped them to realize they could be more than friends. Their relationship grew slowly, but years later, the two are happy and content running their farm together -- now with their daughter by the side as well. And even as the Nest's attitude towards outside cats shifted and Django changed his name to avoid scrutiny, his family has always stood by his side.

Kai walked in with his swag sunglasses and swag swagger.

"Wow," Kai said. "You are so hot." They kiss on the mouth. Kai smells like peanut butter.

"Babe were you rolling in peanut butter again," Kai asks.

"Maybe," Kai replies.

"Awesome," Kai states. "Are you ready for our golf date then?"

The golf course might murder them though which is why they signed their waivers waiving all rights to sue the company for damages to life or limb or property in their sparkly red glitter pens before they went onto the murder golf course.

What a beautiful day for a beautiful date. The murder golf course dramatically spit fire into the air to make it even more beautiful. Wow. Beautiful.

"Babe you look so majestic in this lighting," Kai says as he hits a golf ball into the distance and a shark jumps out of a pond to eat it. Rats. Um- I mean sharks.

"Thank you," Kai replies as he hits a golf ball into the distance and a swarm of rats emerges from the local sewer system to steal it for their hoard. Rats. But like actually this time.

Kai sheds a single tear at his stolen golf ball, then pulls another out of his cartoon pocket and resumes the game. "Kai do you ever think about having children."

Kai watches as this golf ball is stolen by a scary robot child. "Haha if this were a cheesy next gen fic this would be the part where you tell me that you're pregnant."

Kai stops the game and stares at Kai like the kaistare sticker. Kai stares back. They blink.

If I get little guys there's quite a lot of places I can put them with or without Cloudstar blessing me with a chimera! I have several acolytes, rogues and one Loner in Flora Isle that need to exist and anything these two can spit out will work for that. Some of the more exciting options include Ebony the Loner who is super grumpy and just wants all these human loving cats to leave her alone but she has a soft spot for Peanut who just has this aura about him that makes his dopey optimism cute instead of grating to the polar opposite Loner. She thinks its quite silly he carries around a twoleg toy like its a kit but wouldn't hesitate to throw paws to protect him and his toy if anyone else commented on his obsession with it.

Another pair of exciting options are Pōpoki and ʻīlio the rogues! These two are best friends and depending on if Cloudstar or Pālima throw their tail edits one of these two are definitely possible! Pōpoki is the catest cat you ever did see meanwhile ʻīlio is the most doglike cat you ever did see but they both are somehow the best of friends despite being on polar opposite ends of the cat spectrum! I think it would be neat to get one of them through breeding just for the fun of it!

Another exciting option is Hala! This is Popoki Iho's Acolyte and best friend, Hala is just a cutie who wants to help Popoki Iho spread the good word of identity and being true to who you are. Hala is also really hard to write about because Hala's pronouns will be whatever color Hala is. Its a very clever pun I assure you! Hala and Popoki Iho have known each other since forever, since before Popoki Iho knew they were a deity. It's just such a cute dynamic I love these pals so much!!!

he had never even thought about having kits, let alone wanted them.
so when pico and zephyr showed up at their cave entrance with eyes so watery and shiny they looked like miniature pools (🥹), alifera was horrified. what now?

“kids. what is it?”
pico bounced in the air urgently. “dad, we found another kit just like us!! he was trapped in the snowstorm. he said his parents were gone when he woke up cold and shivering. can we left him live with us?”
the last string of words left the munchkin horrified, and he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.
however, zephyr seemed to notice he was hesitant. “dad, you took in pico from the snowstorm when i found him. why would this be any different?”
he grunted and supposed zephyr had a point.
after all, if he did turn them away, he would be no better than that kit’s own parents.

he stepped closer to the kit and starting licking him to warm him up. however, as he felt the kittens velvet soft fur, he sensed something creeping up his spine. the kit mewed and wriggled and that was when alifera noticed that he was blind in one eye. his irises were a cloudy grey and a vibrant blue, just like the colour of the ether when it was dawn.
“what’s your name, little one?”

the kit pivoted to stare into alifera’s own magenta eyes. there was a spark of something in there. alifera met the kit's mismatched gaze and saw stars. he heard melodies lost to time and space echoing in his eardrums, tasted the divine sensation of ambrosia that he never thought he would ever experience again. the ichor in his veins throbbed and he felt lightweight.

the world turned, axis rattling and shaking.
a lone shooting star fell, and everything and everyone was silent.

still, the kit said nothing. they simply stared at the barren cave walls where darkness and shadows danced, and ancient cave paintings seemed to come alive.
life thrummed and the strings of reality came undone, fabric became untethered.
alifera watched in horror as the kitten stayed eerily still. even zephyr and pico, the noisiest cats he'd ever seen were silent, watching the snowstorm outside in mute horror. the ether seemed to unravel, sky filled with technicolour rainbows. and in the middle of the raging tornado of snowflakes was a light blue eye, gazing down at them from up above.

reality shattered and was pieced back together.
alifera hissed. "the kit- it has to go."
"but father, we can't! its too dangerous. we need to let him stay. if we let him go, who knows what he might do unattended?"
pico wasn't exaggerating.

alifera swallowed and inhaled sharply.
"alright. he stays. but zephyr, i need you to keep an eye on him at all times."

"aye aye, dad."
for the first time, zephyr's green irises were filled with fear.
"never let him out of your sight."

"he could destroy worlds and even entire dimensions."

pico took a shaky step forward. "did you hear us...? what's your...name?"

they spoke in the tones of muffled whispers, the rattling of skeletons and bones, and the slow oozing of the void.
most importantly, in the humming of static.
