Fennel and Siobhan are an unlikely couple. Fennel was aiming to take over as the clans leader before a certain pink hued she-cat came in and ruined just about everything. It was aggravating, the way she so easily got under her skin. Every little thing annoyed her to the core, especially when she would distract her from her duties. Eventually, however, she grew to welcome such distractions.

Their relationship is very push and pull, almost reminiscent of Fennel's late parents, Tansy and Cauliflower , except there was no animosity between the two of them when Siobhan suddenly desired to become a parent.
The future kittens of these two would be the only ones (max of 2 pleaseee) and would both have a large role to play in the next act of the clans future.
After the harsh winter, and most of the clan either dying off or being away- one of the kittens would be the one to pave the way towards a brighter future- by seeking out others to join the clan from farrrr beyond the current territory.
With the other one holding down the fort and stopping a coup from forming and trying to take over the clan from the Cansy line (Cauli and Tansy) because they believe they have grown weak (After losing their most valuable medicine cat, cauliflower and hunter, Tansy) in the same winter.

it swallows footprints, shifts landmarks, grinds bones to dust. nothing stays. the merchant understands this.

their home is small, a cave tucked between sun-bleached stone, a hollow in the ribs of the earth. inside, trinkets line their shelves—strange things, old things, things with stories they do not remember. a customer will ask, “where did this come from?” and the merchant will pause, stare at the item, tilt their head.

“i don’t remember.” the answer never changes.

they wake each morning to a shop they do not recall building, a life they must piece together from notes scrawled in the dark. you are the merchant. this is your home. you trade for food. you do not leave.

some days, they believe it. other days, they wonder who they were before. if they had a name. if there is something out there, beyond the endlessly sprawling dunes, waiting for them to return.

the desert brings travellers. a scarred rogue searching for shade. a wanderer paying in silvered coins. a mother with kits wrapped in ragged cloth, whispering stories of grand oases that flicker like mirages.

“have we met before?” the merchant asks, sometimes, met with a wary look or an amused chuckle.

“no,” they are told. or, “yes, once.” or “often." the answers do not matter.

at night, the wind howls through the dunes, and the stars shift their patterns like traders exchanging wares. the merchant lies awake, tracing the constellations with a claw, wondering if they are the same stars they have always known.

sleep takes them eventually. and in the morning, they wake in a cave they do not recognize, in a shop filled with things they do not recall gathering. they read the note left beside their nest. you are the merchant. this is your home. you belong here.

outside, the desert shifts, and the world begins again.
