Leaptuft catches sight of a carrot hunkered down underneath a table, trembling profusely. "Hey little- uh.. guy." Her voice is soft and she tries to appear as non-threatening as can possibly be. "What nice.. greens you have!"
The carrot doesn't budge however, and remained cowered under the table.
"I promise there's nothing to be afraid of! The threat is gone! I'm sure.."
At some point, the carrot finally pulls itself from under the table.

The carrot blinks at her without saying a word. Perhaps in agreement? Elowen couldn't be certain, but figured there would be no harm in sharing the secret anyways.

"Very- and I mean very- few cats know this. But, our Anyara, Plumeria, can actually read minds. Well, not quite read minds. More like she can interpret emotions and manipulate them in a sense. It's all rather complicated, but fascinating nonetheless. Don't you agree, little friend?"

There's another carrot, this one bright orange! Owlflight opts for bribery this time, dangling a tantalizing tidbit of information rather than a story this time around.

"So, you know how salmon swim upstream to lay their eggs? ...yeah they don't... live to talk about it. And they stink something awful for awhile after they're done. For a couple weeks every autumn the river that runs by our camp turns into a parade of bears and dead fish. Great eating, if you're fast. ...and careful. ...and can hold your nose."

He jerks his head towards his owlish companion, perched on a conveniently-located tree.

"Flicker loves it. Loves harassing the bears, too. I keep waiting for her to get smacked, but it hasn't happened yet, thank goodness!"

Dive deep into ancient ruins for long overgrown sacred herb gardens? Multiple times. Chase after sentient carrots? That, Crow had never done and it sure wasn't something that she ever expected to do.
"Hey carrot!" She shouts, getting the attention of one. "You're so round! Nice and plump, you probably got all the sunshine and nutrients you needed! You could probably sell your self-care techniques to the other carrots!"
Crow's cheeks flushed, this was so embarrassing. However, it kept the vegetable- creature?- still long enough for her to collect it.
