Basilides grew up poor amongst the wealthy Selasorban elites who often looked down on him. The kit had big dreams, though. He wanted to join the military to be respected. He grew and swiftly climbed the ranks, becoming a highly respected general. Although he was successful, the tom had been hiding a secret all his life: visions of the future. One day a hoard of locusts ate Selasorba's cropland, starving cats and drying up resources. The king reached out their neighbors for aid, but they took advantage of Selasorba and declared war. Basilides fought many battles and killed many while his vivid and distressing nightmares got worse. Finally, the god of prophecy, Morganus, came to Basilides and explained his plan to the general. During the next battle, the general found a small hill and shouted to the troops around him. The cats didn't waver. Morganus came to the tom in the form of a giant purple flame, stopping the fighting. Basilides explained to the cats they had to cease their conflicts. A deceptive god-king had restrained the gods and stripped them of their power to help the mortals. The gods draw a majority of their power from their bond with the mortals, and were useless in fighting the king if the mortals were also fighting. If the countries united, they could restore this bond and help the gods, thus helping themselves. With Morganus' guidance, they came to a compromise. Basilides' visions hadn't subsided, however, nearly debilitating him. His vision had become tinted purple, his paws wobbly, and his sight blurry. He was forced into retirement and left Selasorba to settle in a cave, eventually losing an eye and the use of a leg. Morganus kept him company and his legend was passed through generations of poor families.
