Prompt:
Describe the parents'* relationship.
Hareskip and Bunnyhop both came from similar backgrounds, although both were rocky starts to their life.
Hareskip came from a house full of many cats, some of them aggressive towards the small cat. The cramped and disgusting aspect of their home left them with a scarred and mangled hind leg, result of a tussle with another cat and then a heavy box falling on their hind leg. They were lucky to escape and even luckier to find the Hawthorns, a place where they could feel the wind in their fur and not have to fight for every single meal they needed. A full belly and a full heart was what they needed.
Bunnyhop was also a former kittypet, although their situation was a bit different. Their Twolegs were loving, constantly spoiling her with exquisite meals and beautiful outfits. Unfortunately, their neighborhood slowly became abandoned, multiple families leaving their houses behind, and her Twolegs followed suit. In their quick evacuation, they left behind Bunnyhop, the cat curling around her bunny-patterned blanket and waiting for them to come back. It took a few moons for the cat to finally gain the courage to leave her home, but it brought her to the Hawthorns.
When the two of them met, it was an almost instant connection. They chatted about their former lives, Hareskip explaining that Twolegs weren't always good to cats and Bunnyhop constantly wishing that Hareskip had been raised by their owners. They wished that they had met each other earlier in life, had been able to be there for one another. It was no surprise to anyone when the two announced themselves as mate, especially when they had spent every single waking moment with each other since they joined the Hawthorns.
When they had their first kit, Cypressgrove, they had two different styles of parenting. Hareskip constantly worried over their son, making sure that he was eating well and being treated just fine by other cats, while Bunnyhop was nothing but enamored with their son. Hareskip was a little bit stricter with how Cypressgrove was raised, while Bunnyhop let their kit have anything he wanted. Despite these differences, Hareskip and Bunnyhop were able to effectively communicate with each other on bigger issues with Cypressgrove's upbringing, and Cypressgrove grew up adoring his two parents.
Now expecting their second litter, Bunnyhop and Hareskip are estactic. They're a bit more focused on making decisions about these kits together, not being two different sides of the same coin. No matter what, these kits will grow up just as loved as Cypressgrove was, raised to be happy, joyful and inexplicably themselves.
