One Saturday night, you're lying on your couch with soda in one hand and the TV remote in the other. You swirl the beverage around in its mug, observing how the fizz arranges itself into the shape of a... what is that? A Marumi? Just put the fries in my bag, lil bro...
Anyways, you feel a wave of nostalgia wash over you for literally no reason. Perhaps it's your inner child who yearns for those memories of eating Taco Bell with your friends, then suffering its consequences while chugging Baja Blast to rehydrate.
"Man... I really want to rewatch some cartoons."
You turn on the kids TV channel. You hear a familiar soundtrack start to play as green and pink colors swirl within the bright TV screen. Wait... what the SKIBIDI?! What are these four-legged, furry dragon shaped creatures?! Who let these sigmas cook, bro... This is NOT what you wanted to watch! Wait... could these be... your Fairy God-Marumis?!

Sure enough, through the small opening of the burrow, he could make out a shivering figure darting through the fading light. Arabella, his dear friend, was outside in the biting cold. Her pretty pink fur stood out in the dim light, her paws muddy from the damp ground and snow covered her wings.
Alastair rushed to the entrance and peeked out. "Arabella!" he called, his voice filled with concern. "What are you doing out there? It’s freezing!"
Arabella looked up, startled but relieved at the sound of his voice. "Alastair!" she squeaked, her nose especially pink from the chill. "I got caught in the wind while I was looking for berries, and the weather turned so quickly. I didn’t know where else to go."
Alastair didn’t hesitate. "Get in here, quickly!" He held the door open as Arabella scurried inside, her small body trembling from the cold.
As soon as she entered, Alastair rushed to fetch the coziest blanket he had, a thick, woolen piece that smelled faintly of pine. He draped it over them, cuddling up next to her as she settled near the fire. Trying to warm her shivering form.
"Thank you," Arabella said, her voice soft and a little shaky. She snuggled deeper into the blanket and into him, her eyes fluttering closed for a moment. The warmth of the fire began to thaw her icy paws, and a small, grateful smile curled on her lips.
Alastair watched her carefully. "You need to be more careful, you know," he said, his tone playful but with a hint of seriousness. "Next time, let me know when you’re going out. I’ll come with you."
Arabella opened one eye and smirked. "If you came with me you would be cold too, then we couldn't cuddle" she expressed and closed her eye again contently. This would forever be a fond memory to her in which she would never forget. Though now she simply asked for cuddles when she wanted them rather than try freezing her tail off! (451/500)

Nerves settled into her stomach with each performance of skill unfolding before her, each wish granter either given high marks or the failure they desperately hoped to avoid. It felt like watching her own potential play out before her, the feeling absolutely nauseating and far too dizzying. For months she'd been proving her talent, gaining every high grade she could manage in every single class from "Wishes 101" to the complex "What Not to Grant During Birthdays".
With a deep breath, Coral swept a paw through her hair, feeling her wings twitch anxiously. The last few students were rather successful, if not giving the best performances of the whole endeavor. She'd been so confident, so precise in her wishes, and yet all it took were a few people to unravel that cool facade. Their snarky grins as the descended the steps of the simulation stage had her blood boiling, yet somehow freezing solid against her heart. What if she was one of the ones who failed? What if they deemed her unworthy of her dreams, her goals, the entire point of working her fluff off for?
That's when Cosmos walked up the steps of the simulator stage, the class clown already balancing his wand around like a kid would a branch. He was smiling from ear to ear, never quite taking anything too seriously. It was amazing he'd even made it to this point, the first day of training still burned into her retinas.
But as he climbed onto the stage, his tail wagging like the golden energy he possessed, Cosmos shot her a knowing look, a moment of serious contemplation playing in his gaze.
With a laugh he took off to fulfill the requirements of the test, starting with the efforts of granting a wish involving food. However, the moment he attempted to summon what was supposed to be a piece of toast, quickly devolved into a mess of pancakes and syrup spilling across the stage. The smell of maple syrup assaulted everyone's senses, pancakes falling over in a pile. They were at least ten times bigger than they were supposed to be, and not even remotely fluffy.
A sheepish laugh escaped the green maru, a paw rubbing at the back of his neck before he attempted to clean the mess with his magic. The problem was, however, that the syrup had managed to find it's way all over the flooring, running around Cosmos' feet. He slipped and slid with all the grace of a newborn giraffe, his wand waving around in hysteria. He began granting wish after wish, firing off magic in every direction.
And all the while, Coral sat in her seat, a cascade of laughter spilling from her very core. Despite the chaos falling around her, she couldn't stop laughing, her nerves flying out with ease.
The test was rescheduled, giving her another chance on another day; a renewed and confident Coral who could take charge of her future. All due to a funny green maru.

Lily ignored Hayden's comment as the two walked past the roller coaster once again. Besides that horrific thing Hayden kept insisting on, the day had been... quite lovely, surprisingly. Having seen Hayden's child-like nature on their first date, she expected to be dragged around from ride to ride, with the vibe of a parent trying to corral a child who just chugged cans of soft drinks. ...Okay, well, part of the day had gone like that, but they had an unexpectedly meaningful chat on the spinning teacup of all places...
"Hahaha, listen to those kids laughing!" The comment surprised Lily, and she looked in the direction of Hayden's gaze, seeing a group of school kids, screaming with joy as they spun themselves into oblivion. She had mentally ignored the sounds of others around her, too focused fighting Hayden over the handle in the middle as he tried to spin it faster. Hayden had the widest grin on his face as he observed them. He's been grinning since they entered, but this one felt... different. Joy at other's joy.
"You said you wanted to be a teacher right? Secondary?" They seemed to be in their early teens, likely juniors in high school.
"Yeah. Secondary school education." Hayden hadn't broken his gaze from the kids, and his hands have, thankfully, stopped moving the handle. "It's one of the most important times of your life. The friends you make, the things you learn and do, what you valued... we might forget our time in school eventually, but they do shape you. And I want to make sure they're shaped well." Wow. He can actually be serious, was Lily's first thought. Admittedly, she thought he wanted to be a teacher because he was basically one of the kids. "How about you?" He asked, finally turning to look at her, his grin now a soft smile. "Why are you studying meteorology?"
It was a conversation about futures, motivations, dreams and hopes. It was a conversation she's had before, but somehow... this time felt sweeter. Like she got to see a bit of his heart, and him of hers. She... couldn't stop thinking about it. Of the conversation and his gentle expression.
Clank. A sound shook her out of her thoughts, and she was... in a seat. The clank was the "seatbelt" of the roller coaster locking around her. In utter shock, she looked to Hayden and his stupid grin, and as he said some excuse about how she was really distracted so he seized the opportunity, she made up her mind.
They were not having a third date.
