Caecilius and Aerwyna were assigned the role of “gods” early on. Earlier than either of them remember. By technicality they’re not exactly gods, they’re not all-powerful and all-knowing. They were gifted the power to create and destroy, but with a few restraints. One of them being, they are not allowed to use their powers on creatures.

Caecilius was especially interested in the forest plants, taking care of them and making sure to obstruct anything that could hurt them.
Aerwyna liked the bugs sprawling around. They would pick them up and keep them in their special tree, illuminated by a small magic spell.

With time, their tasks consumed them. Taking less time to talk, taking more time and more risks to improve the land they were living on. The bugs thrived in the plants Aerwyna so meticulously cared for.

The years passed
And with the years, the pair lost sight of where they began

But sometimes they’d still meet up. Like now, when Caecilius was going over to visit. It was not far, but whenever you move through their enchanted forest, you never really end up where you want, when you want. So they keep walking. Gradually, they notice the forest floor moving. More and more bugs appear the closer Caecilius gets to Aerwyna’s nest. It was a surprise visit, because Aerwyna loves surprises. Maybe they should have brought a gift… but what would they even give? Yet another bug? Haha…

Their thoughts are interrupted by a flash of light coming from deeper in the forest. They squint, but slowly stagger closer. Some powerful magic must be in play to create a beam of that sort. And they can guess exactly who was doing it.

The light stops, suddenly. So does Caecilius. Slowly, slowly from out of the thicket flies a small, glowing lady bug. It sways past Caecilius and off into the distance.

Creating life? That’s crossing the line. Caecilius hurries forward to confront Aerwyna, who is standing by their tree looking guilty as ever.

“Why are you telling everyone this???”

“I want your chips.”

"Everybody always speaks about their perfect first date, the moment that they knew, straight away, that they had found the one, but to tell you the truth? I didn't even like him to start with."

Their story didn't start with dinner, they didn't meet at a fancy restaurant where the breadsticks were free purely to offset the overpriced steak and wine, and it didn't start perfectly. The story of Caecilius and Aerwyna started in the pouring rain and thunder, a miserable day and two miserable newly-gifted Gods trudging along through the mud. Two days ago, Aerwyna thought to herself, she was watching the fireflies light the lake of her hometown, she watched the dragonflies take flight across the sprawling fields and the bees happily moving from one flourishing flower to the next. She hadn't a care in the world. Then came her 'partner', a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed somewhat irritating tree-hugger who cared far more about the trees and the grass and the flowers than the tiny creatures who lived there. In a word? He was insufferable.

Worse still was how unbothered he seemed about the pouring rain and the mud staining both of their paws. It was filthy. A walk in the rain, through the forest, to get to know each other. What could possibly go wrong? Everything. Apparently.

The rain ruined her hair, leaving her bedraggled, soaked through and shivering against the chilling breeze, the cold seeming to cut into her like a knife and all that she wanted was to go home, to tell him, and their superior, that no, she didn't want this role, she wanted nothing to do with the idiot beside her.

Until she felt somerhing warm brush her fur, turning to find said idiot pressing in close against her, sharing his own warmth, even though she could feel his body trembling against the cold as well, his tiny, nubby tail half-curled around her. It was pathetic. Truly.

It was nobody's business if she stepped in closer, wrapping her considerably longer, warmer tail around him.

It definitely wasn't anybody else's business if she cracked a very small, slightly fond smile.

"Idiot."

One quiet day in Fairy World, Forest had just discovered something so hilarious, so outrageously embarrassing, that he couldn’t wait to use it against Primara. He zoomed into their living room, a mischievous grin plastered on his face.

"Primara! I know your secret!" Forest blurted out, barely able to contain his excitement.

Primara, who was laying on the couch reading a magazine, glanced up, unimpressed. "What are you babbling about this time, Forest?"

"Oh, you'll see. I have... dirt!" He dramatically waved a glittery photo in front of her face, but before she could get a good look at it, he yanked it back.

Primara raised an eyebrow. "Dirt? Forest, we’re fairies. We can literally wish dirt away."

"No, no, no! Not that kind of dirt!" Forest said, smirking. "I have a *picture* of you at the Fairy-maru Academy’s talent show—dressed as a giant banana!"

Primara's eyes widened. "You wouldn't dare!"

Forest held the photo triumphantly. It was a grainy, but unmistakable image of Primara, years ago, on stage in a full banana costume, performing an enthusiastic—albeit awkward—dance routine.

"If you don’t do exactly what I say, I'll show this to every Fairy-maru! Imagine the humiliation!" Forest snickered.

Primara sighed and rolled her eyes. "Fine, Forest. What do you want?"

He tapped his chin thoughtfully. “First, I want you to make me an extra-large triple chocolate milkshake, with sprinkles.”

With a flick of her wand, a giant milkshake appeared. Forest slurped it noisily, his paws kicking in the air like an overjoyed marumini.

“And then,” Forest continued between slurps, “I want to be in charge of TV remote for the whole week!”

Primara crossed her arms. “You know you always forget what you're watching, right?”

“I don’t care! I want to be the king of the couch!” Forest proclaimed, adjusting an imaginary crown on his head.

Primara rolled her eyes again but waved her wand, granting him control of the remote.

Forest giggled with glee. "Now, for my ultimate demand—tell me I’m the smartest fairy ever!"

Primara snorted. "Forest, this is ridiculous."

"Say it or 'Prinana' goes viral!"

"Fine," Primara sighed, crossing her paws, "Forest, you are the smartest fairy in the universe."

Forest beamed, absolutely thrilled. “Now wasn’t that fun?” He tossed the photo to Primara, finally relenting.

Primara took the picture, glanced at it, and shook her head. “Forest, you do realize this photo is of *me* in a banana costume… from a skit we did *together*, right?”

Forest blinked, taking a closer look at the image. Sure enough, right next to Primara in the picture was himself—dressed as a giant strawberry.

Primara smirked, “You want to try blackmailing me with that again, ‘King of the Couch’?”

Forest's face fell. “Uh… maybe we could just forget the whole thing?”

Primara chuckled, patting him on the head. "Nice try, Forest. Nice try."

And so, the blackmail attempt crumbled.

we loved the characters that each of you brought to life through your entries, so it was a tough decision to determine our winning pair. however, there was one pair that stood out to us—and that would be nermal1999 and Discontinued!

we really enjoyed the way you two developed coral and cosmos through these little anecdotes, and had a good giggle too! we can't wait to see these sillies around, and see what you two have in store for them! congratulations!
