marumi name: Aquilo "Quilo" (Latin for north wind/winter)

where are they from?: Planet Fortuna (Latin for good fortune/fate)

Fortuna is the largest planet in its galaxy. It needs to be, to house some of the most powerful beings in the solar system: the zodiacs. Here the offspring of the original twelve live out their days. Depending on their lineage, and a bit of genetic luck inheriting, residence of Fortuna can master 12 different magic types. These powers have shaped their planet. The summer signs, like Cancer's line, can manipulate water. Fortuna's seas are calm, her waters can be drawn up from deep within the earth to shape even the most arid climate to an oasis. The spring signs, like those of Taurus, can work the earth. The Flora and fauna of Fortuna is unrivaled. Peace and stability is achieved through the balance of these most talented magic users.

Those less fortunate in their magical inheritance, such as a certain Aquarius descendant, have the honor of utilizing "lesser magic". Sensing the emotion of others and, at most, nudging those emotions to change. Successful? Not likely. Useful? Not really. Those on Fortuna with this "gift" are called Feelers.

Feelers make up the average citizens of Fortuna.

where do they stay?: Ryū Sekai (translates to dragon world. The land of Marumis) is the planet. Current location is the Mage's Mansion.

Quilo never meant to leave his homeworld. True, he was no social elite but he had a fine life! He had his humble house with the creaky porch swing. A bedroom with a view of a tree where a little zuzu bird made their nest every spring. His job as algae cleaner was not glamous by any means, but it was outdoors! He expected to live out his days on Fortuna, not fantastically but fine!

If not for his soft spot. His heart outside his body that had legs and often, often, walked away from him. His dear sister: Damia.

Damia could not cope with Fortuna. She was arguably the force of nature on the planet. Having an ungodly gift to manipulate fauna. So powerful, so revered, yet so miserable! No matter how Quilo fussed over his sister, and it was embarrassing the level he stooped to cheer up his sis, Damia loathed the planet and its citizens that pawed at her to fix every little chewed crop leaf.

Quilo blames himself for her bolting. He should have known he couldn't have a lovely holiday at sea. She had told him to go. Wished him well. Helped him pack! He wasn't on the ferry for 10 mins before her absence had been noted.

"Get her back Quilo! She loves you! She'll listen to you! Promise her anything! Everything! Just please, please find her and bring her home!" Those were his orders from the top.

The galaxy gatekeepers could only tell him which wormhole Damia had taken. A path to a planet known for its completely adorable four-legged populace. A planet called Ryū Sekai, dragon world, the home of Marumi.

Two days on this planet and he's taken a new form: fluffy, fun-sized, and blue! What's more he's mixed up some locals in his mess. They're all trapped in the infamous Mage's Mansion. A black hulking magical abode. Rumor has it Damia was seen slipping inside. But where could she be? Why would she want to explore a house so convoluted?

Until he locates his sister he'll work his way through this maze of a mansion. His home is a house ever-changing.

extras (optional): a short story about how Quilo ended up at where he is staying. honeybunchesofoats and bud gave me permission to use their marumis in the story!

Quilo was never one to cause a scene. Unfortunately, crashlanding on a foreign planet in a new body was not an event one could ease into. So there he was: unceremoniously dropped on his newly fluffy bum. Scambling in the grass, contending with four limbs and a tail like a tree limb. He was a wriggling, squalling, bundle of blue fur.

"Oh gods, Dreamsicle, c'mere. It's another one of those weirdos!" A masculine voice, like the thrum of a bass, came from nearby.

Quilo stilled. Weirdo? Was he talking about me? Outrageous!

"What? If you're pulling my tail again, Amaris--"

"Just come and look," snapped the deep voice.

Awkwardly, Quilo coordinated himself up onto his feet, no not feet, paws. He could feel the erratic beating of his heart in his chest. At least that sensation was familar. Outside himself, he picked up on the emotion in the air like it was charged energy: the prickly tingle of amusement mixed with the smooth undertones of boredom. The subdued feelings wafted from the smaller of the two creatures, who had orange fur and light blue eyes. The excitement radiated from the darker coat of the two dragons. Who had teeth... outside his fur! Showcasing the most murderous, toothy grin! Quilo scrambled back, heart hammering all the harder.

"Aww you're scarin' the little fluff," said the blue-eyed one.

The other chuckled. Quilo might have thought it was malicious if he didn't still sense the aura of amusement coming from that one.

"What cha expect from weirdos out in the marsh? Clearly don't know a mask when they see one."

Oh? Mask. Wait. Marsh!

He glanced down to notice his paws were standing on crumpled tall grass. Murky water crept up to his ankles.

"Ah! Filthy water! No, no, no!" Quilo chanted as he churned his four legs to locomotive himself to shore.

"Watch it, Fluff, you're flinging water everywhere," chided the one with orange fur.

"My name is not Fluff." Quilo dragged himself up, trying to look as dignified as possible with soggy paws. "It's Aquilo--er, Quilo, actually. And you fine creatures are?"

"Creatures? Really, Fluff." The mask-wearer's amusement soured to points of annoyance.

"This is Amaris," the shorter offered. "I'm Dreamsicle."

And just like that, the mood lightened. They all had names. Maybe Damia hadn't snuck off to such a bad planet. Maybe Amaris and Dreamsicle had seen where she'd gone.

A smile spread across his maw. "You mentioned, uh, a weirdo. Did this weirdo--"

"Roll in the marsh like a fool too? Yep."

Humph. Amaris was an interrupter, that could get old fast. Still, this sounded promising! Damia wouldn't understand how to navigate a four legged body any better that he did. And heck, maybe the gatekeeper's drop any new alien in the same spot! A marsh is a pretty rude landing pad, but, no matter.

"Where did this weirdo go?" He probed.

"Why?" Dreamsicle's emotional aura transformed from bored to suspicious.

"Yeah. Why do you need to know?" Amaris tilted his head, his feelings too switched to suspicion.

Yikes. The vibes were not good. Quilo normally chewed his lower lip when he was anxious but his new mouth was so long and unruly. He caught his lip on one of his fangs, probably looked as ridiculous as he felt.

The air of hostility lightened just a touch. Dreamsicle chuckled. Dreamsicle. She seemed like the more friendly of the two. She didn't wear a ghoulish mask. Perhaps he could just... nudge her into feeling more... open.

As a feeler, Quilo, had average abilities. He preferred to sense the emotions around him and not tamper. But he needed to find his sis. These were unprecedented times. Just this once, he'd give it a try.

Unsticking his lip with a flick of his tongue, he then took a steady breath in. On his exhale he directed some of his magic at Dreamsicle. The dragon should feel a warm sensation coming over her. Calm, inviting. With any luck, it would feel silly to keep up the cold shoulder.

He tried again. "Please. This weirdo is important to me."

Amaris looked over at his companion with narrowed eyes. "Uh, Dream, you okay?"

Dreamsicle gave a slow blink of her eyes.

There was silence all around. Then.

"They went to the Mage's Mansion. We followed them there."

"Ah, Dream! You know we're not supposed to be anywhere near there. Why'd you tell the fluff?" Amaris shook his head.

"Can you show it to me?" Quilo pressed his magic a little harder. A stronger hug of calm and tranquility.

"Ok."

Dreamsicle turned and padded off. Quilo, and then Amaris, were quick to follow.

"Dream. Dream! We gotta turn around. We're gonna get in trouble."

Amaris' pleads fell on deaf ears. Dreamsicle moved like a dragon possessed. She led them through low brush, then a crowded wood, before they approached a towering black mansion with an intricate wrought-iron fence. The orange-furred marumi squeezed her body between two bars, popping out behind the fence line to continue on to the house. Quilo momentarily was stuck by his tail, Amaris had to bend it, so he could free himself from the bars. Then the two of them rejoined Dreamsicle on the porch.

"They went through there," she said cooly.

'There' was a massive mahogany door with a snarling dragon head for a door knocker. Damia, what are you doing?

"Ok. So... do I just knock?" Quilo could hear the shake in his voice.

"No you don't knock. This place is forbidden. We should leave," Amaris growled.

"It's not locked. They went through the door."

Quilo could sense the certainty coming from Dreamsicle. She was telling the truth.

"It's okay. Thank you for showing me. You two can g--"

Before he could finish his sentence the door snapped open and a horrible rush of wind dragged at his fur. Quilo was pulled into the doorway. Like he were a piece of lint sucked up a vacuum. So fast he did little more than squeak!

Slam.

That was the door. Quilo realized. That had shut behind him. He was on the floor and a warm body was on his back.

"Oh sorry, Quilo." Dreamsicle's high pitched voice came from above him. The weight lifted off him as he saw her stand nearby.

"Nevermind that! This door won't budge!" Amaris was shoving his skull into the door. His claws scraped on the ground. "If it wasn't locked before it is now."

"Who is it you're looking for, Quilo?" Dreamsicle asked in a hushed voice. She was giving off fear and anxiety.

"My sister," Quilo said, rising to his paws, "I have to find her."

marumi name: Svetlana
where are they from?:
Far in the corners of the world there lies a lonely mountain. It is a brutal place, and the villagers that live there must be hearty and resilient. Those who are born in its embrace feel a connection to the mountain itself: some kind of primal magic that holds their fascination and keeps them from fleeing to the warmth of the valleys below. Over the years the biggest village gained a reputation for taking in those who were lost. Individuals who felt themselves drawn to the cold solace of the mountain found refuge next to the ever roaring fires at the hearths of each home. The people felt a connection with one another that made those lost feel welcomed and at peace, though not all choose to stay forever. Sometimes a warm fire, a hearty meal, and the comradery of the village against the constant battering of the mountain was only a stop on their way to discovering themselves and where they truly belong. Svetlana was born high in the mountain. She remembers little of her origins, only that she was found by a group of travelers close to the mountain's peak. Alone, cold, and lost, the travelers brought her with them on their journey. They returned to the valley below where the sun shone and the wind blew warm. She grew up there, happy, but a piece of her soul felt drawn to the mountain. Each day she looked up at its towering peak, and knew that she would have to return some day. Her adopted parents disapproved, but when she reached adulthood she left the only home she'd ever truly known to find the self she had left behind all those years ago at the top of the mountain. It was an arduous journey, and she constantly questioned whether or not she was doing the right thing. After over a year's journey she reached a village nestled in the arms of the mountain, and her heart felt at peace. Much like other travelers the villagers took her in, showing her how to live and survive in the biting cold. Svetlana felt herself learning quickly: thriving in the blistering ice and snow. One day, a few months into her stay, she found herself in a part of the mountain she'd never been to before. Despite this, it felt familiar to her. She wandered around in the snow, until a blizzard started to pick up. She ran, feeling the wind whip the fur around her face as her paws left deep tracks in the ever deepening snow. There was a break in the storm, and before her she saw a cave. When she walked inside she felt something shift, and she felt a rush of warmth flood through her. There was something magical here, and she knew it was where she was meant to stay.

where do they stay?:
Svetlana lives in a cave near the top of a mountain. The cave is oddly warm, and closer investigation would reveal magical stones that radiate heat. The cave is hard to find, and Svetlana has made herself a home there. She built a door to protect herself from the wind and any unwanted visitors, and has spent the last few years tediously carrying all of the things she would need to turn in into a comfortable home up from the village below her. She rarely has guests, but is always happy to host guests that find themselves on her doorstep. She makes frequent trips lower down the mountain to trade supplies, and few know exactly where she comes from. Only that she is completely at peace, and always happy to offer a story.

where are they from?:A quaint home in the mountains
where do they stay?:A small hut on the beach
extras (optional):Despite being raised in the mountains, the cold was never for them. Moonlight yearned for the warm sun, the sea salt scented breeze, *anything*. They feared their parents would reject them for it, but their parents were very encouraging, telling Moonlight to seek out their own home, so long as they visited for a nice dinner every once and a while. They would always be welcomed home with open arms and a warm meal once they yearned again for cold in the overwhelming summer swelter.

where are they from?: daier was born into a long lineage of celestial beings, a family whose roots went as far back as to the stars themselves. her ancestors once danced among the constellations, their grace and power influencing the ebb and flow of the cosmos. as a descendant of these all-powerful beings, daier grew up in a floating city of shimmering spires and endless golden sunsets.

in her early years of existence, daier was the epitome of celestial arrogance. she was surrounded by luxury and the finest that the heavens could offer. her days were spent attending grand banquets in palaces and receiving accolades from lesser celestial beings. from her lofty vantage point, she looked down upon the mortal realm with a mix of disdain and curiosity, convinced that their lives were nothing more than fleeting and trivial affairs, amounting to nothing.

however, this detached life view began to change when a celestial prophecy was revealed to her from her ancestors. the prophecy spoke of a great calamity that would befall the mortal realm, a disaster so profound that it could only be averted through the aid of a celestial, through the aid of her. though she initially dismissed it as another grandiose tale, another wives tale from the elders, a lingering sense of unease and uncertainty began to gnaw at her.

as these thoughts were eating away at her, she began to watch the mortals more, witnessing the everyday struggles and simple joys of those who lived below. she saw the resilience in their faces, the strength in their communities, and the beauty in their shared lives. the more she watched, the more her heart softened, and the more she longed to understand their world; not from a distance, but from within, as one of them.

driven by a newfound empathy and desire, daier made a bold decision. she left her exalted perch in the clouds and descended to the mortal realm. the transition was jarring; she had to adapt to the constraints of mortal life and learn to navigate its complexities. through these struggles and experiences, she began to see the world through the mortal's eyes. in the process, she discovered that true greatness wasn't measured by celestial status, but by the impact one had on others.

where do they stay?: daier has now settled in a picturesque village nestled in a lush, verdant valley surrounded by rolling hills, ancient forests, crashing waterfalls, and bustling wildlife. the village is known for its harmonious blend of nature and community, with charming stone cottages, vibrant markets, and a strong sense of local tradition.

extras (optional): i. to blend in and make a meaningful impact, daier has adopted the role of a healer and herbalist. she runs a modest apothecary shop at the edge of the village, where she uses her celestial knowledge to create remedies and potions from local herbs and enchanted ingredients. her shop is a cozy, welcoming space adorned with delicate, shimmering decorations and fragrant herbs. she is known to extend a helping hand, often giving away product for free to those in need.

ii. despite her noble intentions, daier faces challenges in her new life. the villagers are initially wary of her, as her celestial origins occasionally reveal themselves in subtle ways, such as her otherworldly grace, or the soft glow that emanates from her when she is deeply focused. gaining their trust has required patience and humility, something far out of her comfort zone, but her genuine efforts to help and her willingness to immerse herself in their daily lives have begun to earn her respect and acceptance.

iii. her primary goal in her life on the mortal realm is to integrate fully into the mortal world and contribute positively to the village, as well as preventing the prophecy she was warned of. in addition to these goals, she is on a personal quest to understand human emotions and experiences more deeply, seeking to learn what it means to live a truly fulfilled life away from the grandeur of the celestial realms.

iv. if i ever get lucky enough to snatch up this baby as well as this one, they will tie in together. the one linked would be the merumi mentioned in the prophecy, bringing about the downfall of the village she's grown to love, causing her to experience her first raw grief, an indescribable emotion, one that pushes her further from her celestial roots and closer to her understanding of mortals.

marumi name: Silcia
where are they from?:
They are from a long time forgotten by now. She came from the cold mountains of greenland, back then she had others of her sub species surrounding her. Their diet usually consisted mainly of plants, despite the harsh conditions making it difficult. Although there were rare instances of them scavenging when absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, those memories are quite blurry and distant in her mind. For back then she came across a spring of youth, said to extend the life of a dragon to almost double. Unbeknownst to Silcia at the time however, was the important meaning of the ponds hue. If the color was a light blue or green it was at its most optimal state, only to be drank then. But when the juvenile dragon had drank it in excitement, it was a deep glowing purple. No dragon had taken the chance of drinking it in that state before, since the fountains were rumored to not only be able to extend life, but take it away too. Luckily, and unluckily, this was not the case for Silcia. What was thought to be a chosen blessing for her turned sour. She had become immortal. By the time Silcia had returned to her family and brought them to the pool it had changed to a light teal. First when she had told them she consumed it at the wrong color they were horrified, fearing the worst. But as time went on they realized what had happened. She vowed as long as she had her mind in tact she would protect the foutain of youth, making sure no other creature would go through this horrible fate. Everything passes her, flying by. Her memory not being able to find what was yesterday or centuries ago. So as Silcia watched her friends and family slowly fade away one by one, she realized she had been cursed. Cursed to endure the knowledge that one day she'll be the only thing to remember. Cursed to know one day she may forget them too.
where do they stay?: She stays guarding the fountain of youth for the rest of eternity, some days she can barely remember her reasons for being there. However something inside her tells her she must stay or terrible things could happen to others.
extras (optional):
After so long of staying there her body seemed to change. The short sleek hair that helped camouflage her into the mountain snow, now grew long and fluffy to keep her comfortable while laying down. Her ears grew rounder and larger to help hear if others were close to the pond. The part that made her saddest although was, her stripes that were for camouflage started to fade. With them she felt her other striped dragonic family lineage fade with them. She realized she no longer was one of them, she had become something else. No longer as she stealthing around the mountain tops, searching for food. No more was she part of her pack. No more was she her own species. She was a guardian. A guardian destined to forget all except her job.
not lore related extras:
