It was a beautiful sunny day in the countryside. The birds were chirping and all of the animals on the farm were just starting to open their eyes. Soren the collie woke up ready to get to work, he paced around all of the different animal enclosures to make sure everything was as it should. Pigs, check. Chickens, check. Horses, check. Goats, check. Cattle…wait?! Where did the cattle go?

Soren rushed off in search of the cattle, nose on the ground and tail in the air. He was focused on the mission and wasn’t going to let anything get in his way!

After searching for what seemed like miles, he finally spotted those mischievous cows. Fortunately, they were in an open field with no obstacles in the way but they were spread out and dispersed! He was determined to get them back home safely.

Soren circled the herd, nipping at ankles as needed to get them in the right form. Things start looking promising until he notices some stragglers on the other side of the river! “Really?! Now how did that happen?” he thinks as he lets out a sigh and immediately looks for a solution. He uses his keen sense of smell to find out how the herd got across in the first place and notices a bridge further down the riverbank.

Finally, things are back on track and the herd is all together again. Soren leads the cattle along as they approach a fork in the road. After putting a lot of thought into the decision, he decides to go left. He wasn’t sure why he chose that path but his intuition was telling him to.

The sun starts to set as nightfall is on its way. Soren sees two options up ahead, they could either go through the forest that is shrouded in shadows or stick to the open fields. He decides the open fields are the safest route to get home. Less opportunity for wild animals to pounce!

A silhouette approaches in the distance, Soren gets tense and is ready for whatever may come. The shadow became larger and larger as it got closer. Surprisingly, this creature let out a soft and friendly voice saying “Hello there, I noticed it looks like you need a safe place to stay for the night. It’s not safe out here alone. I’m Silver Moon, what is your name?”. It was a horse! A wild and ethereal-looking one with a shiny silvery mane and tail. Pleasantly taken aback, Soren introduced himself and asked for some more information. Silver Moon stated that her herd was nearby, that they would protect him and his cattle from any danger. He gladly accepted and they made their way to the other side of the field.

Soren woke up before everyone else, securing the perimeter and ensuring everyone’s safety. He looked into the distance, watching what little was visible of the sunrise. The clouds engulfed the sky and it began to look as if it may rain. He woke up the others, thanking Silver Moon and her herd for their help and hospitality. Then Soren set off with his cattle homeward bound.

The courageous pup and his herd of cattle managed to make it back to the farm, with a new experience under their belt. Soren was thankful for the adventure and to have made new friends with the wild horses along the way. He was able to prove to himself that he could overcome each challenge, no matter how stressful. Now he could curl up onto his bed and rest comfortably with a weight lifted off his shoulders.

Adventure Time! It was a nice breezy day, the wind ruffling my fur as I stood at the entrance to the barn and took in my surroundings. I pushed my nose into the air, taking in all the scents the wind carried to me. After a moment, I caught the scent of my quarry for the day - sheep. Without a moment's more hesitation, I set out in the direction their scent had come from. I spent most of the day tracking them down, though it helped to have the wind on my side. Unfortunately, they were in a large, open field and had spread themselves out quite a bit. Nothing I couldn't handle of course, but it would make the job more tedious. At least the open field meant I had a clear path to them. I started with the ones further out, herding them inwards until they were all grouped together. Then, we began our journey back. All was going well until we came across a river and some of the flock had managed to get themselves to the other side. I wasn't sure how they'd done, but I was familiar with this river and knew there was a bridge not too much further down. I herded the remaining sheep across and once I'd gotten them all rounded up again, we set out once more. At one point on our path, we came across a fork in the road. The flock always hesitated here, but I expertly guided them down the right path. I knew this country like the back of my paw, so it was an easy choice. At this point, it as starting to get dark and we were in the middle of a forest. I could sense the nervousness rousing in the flock, but I continued herding them with confidence. However, it had gotten to the point that it was too dark to continue. I paused with uncertainty, unsure of my next move. Out of the darkness, a stranger arrived. I got into a guarding position, unsure of their intent, but then they offered me shelter. I considered carefully, these woods would indeed be dangerous to keep an entire flock of sheep in overnight, especially with just one dog guarding them. I asked them a few questions about this shelter they were providing and after hearing their answers, I was satisfied that we'd be safe with them. The next morning, I woke to a partly cloudy sky. It was still mostly clear so I wasn't worried about any rain or thunderstorms. I thanked the kind stranger and before we left, they crafted me a gift that I decided to wear upon my head. After that, I set off once more with the flock. The rest of the journey back went quite smoothly thankfully. Despite the troubles I'd faced, I was glad I was able to face them confidently by myself. Well, mostly. I also really appreciated the help the stranger had provided and the flower crown they had made for me and vowed to wear it proudly for as long as I could, as I reminder that it's okay to accept a stranger's kindness.

    Breezy
    Ducks
    Spread out -with obstacles
Try and sniff out how the herd crossed
    We go right -easy choice
    Stick to the open fields
    ask for more information
Wispy clouds -only bits of the sky are blocked otherwise it's all clear.
Ending - how has the journey changed me
(Listing my answers first)

Stepping out from the barn, the sun shinning onto what looks to be a clear morning you take notice that a swift breeze blows across the landscape, ruffling your fur. You also notice that some feathers cross your path. Duck feathers! Quickly you look around to see if you can find your flock of feathered waywards. All you can see in the distance is one lone duck. Chasing after the duck you hope that it will take off and lead you to it's other feathered friends. Eventually it does. Unfortunately for you, the flock is scattered. Some are swimming in the stream, others are nestled down into the long grass picking at it for a morning meal, and some are even further up onto a hill enjoying the sunshine.
This all may seem easy for a quick round up but, it's not, to add insult to injury, there's obstacles in your path. First is getting down to the stream, the hillside is rocky and sharp. Going down won't be easy, and you have to step carefully lest you want your paws all cut up! Once you arrive at the stream you let out a loud bark to try and alert the ducks that 'hey it's time to stop playing and get back to the farm.' None of them of course heed your call and continue about their ways.
As you come closed to the shore, putting your paws into the frigged waters, you feel yourself begin to sink slightly and pull back onto solid ground. Frustrated you let out another bark, this one more demanding. But, the ducks still pay you no mind. After all you're not the one who normally rounds them up. Therefore you have no authority in their eyes.
Looking ahead you look to see the other ducks further on the other side of land. Sniffing you try to find out how these ducks made it to the other side but, it becomes clear, they're ducks. And they can fly to the other side. Leaving you no obvious path to get to them.
Welp there's no way around it, so you must face the terrible cold and plunge straight into the water! Lucky for you the current isn't really strong so swimming across is fairly quick. But, now you're ALL wet! And you smell like a wet dog too.

Though it takes sometime and you're able to dry off, you finally manage to round up the flock and get them across the stream, back up onto the bank that is connected with your farm. Or, so you think. You've spent ALL day rounding them up because they don't respect you. Leading you to and fro, now you have to find your way home.
Herding them along to the main road, you come to the fork, you've seen this place before driving to and from the market with your owner. Putting your nose to the ground you begin to sniff and sniff out the scent of the road to take home.'Turn right!' you bark at them, giving a nip at the air to hurry them along and show you mean business!
Quickly though it begins to get dark, and your energy is fading. Though being a collie means you keep going till you drop! And as it turns out, you've followed the wrong scent and now you've taken a slight detour. While the forest looks like the quicker choice. Herding a bunch of ducks through it is less than ideal. You stick with the open field, you can keep an eye on the ducks better and nothing can sneak up and snatch any away from you.
You make it across the open field but now night has fallen, and there's no way for you to see if the ducks get too far ahead of you. Your ears pivot at the sound of quickly approaching foot steps. Growling, you bristle your fur, ready for anything that might take your flock from you. But, a quick bark let's you know it's just another collie. They offer you a chance to rest but, being a collie who doesn't rush into things you ask for more information as to where, and how they will be giving you and the ducks a place to shelter for the night.
The other collie answers all your questions and leads you to the place you are to stay for the night. The ducks and you find it to be a nice restful sleep, and wake at the first rays of dawn. You know your master is going to not only be worried about the ducks but also about you. Gazing up you spy Wispy clouds dotting the sky but otherwise the day is clear and the wind not nearly as strong as it had been the day before.
Bringing the ducks back to the farm brings you a sense of relief and fulfillment. You've come to appreciate the hard working knowledge the more seasoned herding dogs have and this brings a new found respect towards them..

It is a snowy day as they go to herd the goats back in. Thankfully, the goats are mostly together and the way is all clear. Seeing some of the goats on the other side of the river, they decide to swim across to gather them. When reaching the fork, after some thinking, they decide to go left. As it gets dark, they decide that though they enjoy the trees in the daylight, it's probably best to go through the open fields so as to better keep an eye on the goats. When they come upon a stranger offering a place to sleep, they are hesitant and ask questions. But decide they seem alright and stay the night. Waking up, it's a beautiful sunrise with a good handful of clouds catching the color shining through. It looks like it's going to be a lovely day with no rain. Upon the return home, they are praised for doing such a good job at gathering the stray goats and how responsible they are. They loved the adventure, but love doing a good job and being useful too. :3

Adventure Time!

Harley sat inside, gazing out the window and enjoying the rain when something unusual caught their attention. The gate to the duck enclosure seemed to be slightly ajar. She jumped to her feet, making a mad dash out the door to check on her precious flock. Hoping to hear the soft thwaps of webbed feet and a chorus of quacks, she was horrified to be greeted by nothing but the pitter patter of rain and an eerie creaking of the gate swaying in the storm. Frantic, she began her search for any sign of where they'd gone off to. In her rush to the gate, she hadn't noticed the trail of prints and downy feathers leading away from the farm. The rain dampening her sense of smell, she followed the winding trail of clues as best as she could. After what felt like ages, she began to hear music to her ears: delighted quacking and splashing as her flock was found having the time of their lives swimming in the river and stomping through the rainy puddles. She counted them all safe and sound together and was able to release a shaky breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. They were safe; now the real challenge would be getting them out of the water and back home. The best course of action seemed to be swimming to the other side to wrangle the stragglers splashing about in puddles, driving them back to the rest of the swimming flock before herding them back to the other side. Thankful for her strong swimming and familiarity with her ducks, she was able to complete this feat relatively quickly. In her frantic rush, she hadn't paid nearly as much attention to the direction she'd been running as she should have and was momentarily startled to see the fork in the path ahead. While much of the duck's prints had been muddied in the storm, her heavy paws had left a much more prominent trail leading off to the right. While she had originally followed the ducks tracks through the open field ahead, Harley recognized she was lucky not to have lost any of her flock to the local hawks and surely wasn't about to take the risk with the owls that would soon be waking up as the sun seemed eager to set. The path through the forest felt like her only choice. Making sure to keep her group close, she anxiously navigated through the shadowy tree line, her hackles rising as she spotted a figure approaching in the distance with eyes glinting in the moonlight. She placed herself defensively in front of her flock, prepared to defend them at all costs as a fox brazenly trotted their direction. As she began a low growl, the fox let out a yipping laugh, much to Harley's surprise. They promised they had no intention of causing a fight but were curious after seeing such an unusual group wandering their forest at night and suggested they follow her to a dilapidated cabin up ahead. While their offer of a safe haven sounded tempting, Harley reasoned that it was almost too good to be true and bared her teeth with one final warning to the fox who promptly backed away, slinking back into the shadows of the forest. Feeling uneasy after her encounter, she began looking for a place to settle in until morning. It wasn't long before she spotted a large tree with a spacious, unoccupied hollow. Tucking her tiring group of feathered friends inside for the night, Harley positioned herself in the entrance, listening to the chorus of crickets as she counted her blessings and drifted off to sleep. While there may not have been the usual alarm of her rooster, she found the suns rays breaking through the clouds to be a welcome sight as she stretched and rounded up her flock one last time before resuming her trek back home. While Harley may have returned with mud covering her white markings, there was no hiding the herding aspect of her coat as a renewed sense of confidence filled her steps with pride. She was more than happy to be back where she belonged with all of her quacking friends ♡

Adventure Time!

It's a foggy morning. Resting peacefully on a comfy bed, there's a collie who have never explore away of their fence.
The call of their human back home made them perk up their head, a quick wag of their tail, the dog incorporated as fast as they could, looking for the two-leg. The human made them a signal, pointing out at a hole. Some animals were on the loose, and despite knowing how the collie never left home, they gently asked them to go out and explore, to bring the lost animals back home. The dog gulped, doubting about their possibilities in this mission. The human took then the dog, and carried him far from home, to the last spot where the animals were seen, then took the car and left the trembling dog, knowing they would do well. The dog couldn't trust their sight when they looked around. No track of the herd, the car's sound quickly faded in the distance and left them with no idea of what direction it took, and the fog made everything a bit more difficult. They started to run around erraticaly, trying to find the figure of the animals they were supposed to save while they were this far from home.
They were desperate, when suddenly, something caught their attention. A light scent, a trail they could follow. They wagged their tail and lowered its head, trotting as they followed the scent of the herd, but it was not long after they suddenly stopped, noticing that the scent soon came weaker, and what was worse, the herd had spread out, and now they had different trails to follow. At last, they started to find the different individuals that composed the herd but no without obstacles.
The last few animals were on the other side of a river: How to regroup them? Head working fast, the collie moved anxiously following the river's course, and the dog swiftly crossed it, jumping on some rocks that could be used as stepping stones. They were wet and slippery, but the collie was focused on reaching the other side and reunite the herd. They did it, and was able to move the few animals left with the rest not so far.
Now the herd was complete, collie and goats headed back home. Everything seemed easy until they found a fork, now where to go? The collie took their time, considering the choices, and ended up heading left.
The herd moved slowly, it was starting to get dark. They walked until they were at the edge of a forest. The collie barked, considering the safest path was going through the open fields.
They kept moving for a while, now already with the moon's light illuminating their way, when a stranger offered them shelter. This unknown animal seemed friendly, but our collie was suspicious. With politeness, they asked for more information, and that's when the stranger introduced as a charitable soul and a friendly animal who was living in a den big enough to keep the herd safe for the night.
It was still early in the morning when our hero woke up, yawning and stretching while the sun was starting to illuminate the ground. Fog was gone, there was a sunny and very nice day waiting for them! It took a bit more time but at last, herd and dog where back home.
With their task done, the dog walked up a hill and sat satisfied under the shade of a tree, looking at the horizon with a determined look. This was an unexpected journey. They met a wild yet friendly animal who helped them to rest the night out in the wildernerss and keep their herd safe. They travelled far, faced the cold and furious waters of a river, they took tough decisions in their path. All of this, made them feel a bit more mature, but especially, happy with themselves. They never had this trust in themselves until now, all their fears had to be placed away to finish their job and go back home. And they did it successfully.
The collie took a deep breath and then exhaled it. Now, they knew the world out there is way bigger than what they knew, it was waiting for them to explore it, and what was more important, in tough times, they had the strength and bravery to face them and be victorious.
