Which Kitten: top right
Cat Name: lunette
Gender: female
Rank: goddess of the moon and the night.
Clan: softclan
Age: eons
Prompt: her one dream; to escape it all.
being a god is supposed to be a privilege.
yet lunette feels…dissatisfied.
how? how could she feel all mighty and divine when she didn’t even know how to rise the moon properly?
how could she feel happy when there were always things to worry about? like the voidlurkers and the curse of the void??
and when she sleeps as the daytime sun rises, she has wild dreams. dreams of freedom, where she could simply be a mortal, frolicking in fields, making friends, living an ordinary life. not battling voidlurkers, constantly living in fear of being corrupted, and performing tiring duties every day.
lunette could be a mortal. after all, there are some unusually coloured pelts. surely nobody would suspect she was lunette. but the problem was the other gods certainly might. look at sirius, for example. the death goddess was unusually perceptive. and she thought about litoré…her best friend. she would never want to leave, she thought too much of her duties. it would tear her apart if lunette asked her to come along and escape.
so here she is, the dusk-coloured molly is trapped in the divine realm. and it is most certainly not paradise.
she doesn't want to do this but she can't resist.
gods vanish all the time, surely they won't know she snuck off. ....right?

the plan was to sneak out to get to the fountain by midnight, when the moon was at its highest point.
padding softly, squeezing past the curtain of iridescent dew-covered blooms, was the fountain. she had made it.
touching her paws to it, letting the cold water cool her aching paws, she prepared to be sucked into the portal.
the mortal world is so close. i'm one paw-step away from escaping!
her deepest desires, her greatest dreams would finally come true.
her periwinkle paws were tingling. at last! she'd get to see the mortal world. she would be free.
but then...all of a sudden, a sharp yowl broke through her train of thought.
oh no.
whipping her head round at the speed of light, her azure eyes caught on seafoam-green fur.
"lunette! where are you going?!" yellow eyes met hers.
litore...
drums beat intensely in her head and blood roared in her ears.
i'm sorry. i can't spend my life like this. i don't want to stay here.
please forgive me.
words she'd never say to her best friend.
the sea goddess was running towards lunette and the fountain to stop her. perhaps she'd already known what lunette was going to do.
"i have to fulfill my dreams. i cannot let you take me away from this when i'm so close."
the portal was getting bigger, bigger and bigger. pure magic energy was rushing from it, like wind howling in her ears.
"but- lunette! YOU PROMISED!"
the portal glowed so brightly it was blinding.
then it blinked and disappeared.
swamped with guilt, the goddess sighed.
...have i really fulfilled my dream?
