"I am not!" roam denied, spitting vehemently. sandpiper laughed, her fur sloshing around her as she paddled in the lake.

"are too! if you're not then you'd come in with me." roamblaze turned up his nose, turning away irritated, eyes flashing with curses unshed. "I don't have any desire to get my fur wet or catch a cold because someone can't stay out of any water she sees." sandpiper rolled her eyes, but there was no malice to the action. "you're just afraid of water, you lazy bear." she turned to cranetumble, who was resting on the bank nearby with a smirk.

"he hates to get water in his ears, and he also sinks to the bottom like a rock!" crane started to bark a laugh, but stifled it when he caught roamblaze's murderous look. he looked away. "well, I don't want to swim either." crane reassured the other tom, who shuffled along the edge of the bank, sending rocks skittering into the lake. he sighed.

"WELL I DO!" their final patrol member howled, rounding the bank ferociously. Loonrush launched himself up the bank towards roamblaze.

It was a pity really, the tom never saw it coming. Loonrush collided with Roamblaze, sending them both sprawling into the lake with a triumphant splash. Sandpiper roared with laughter, especially as Roamblaze frantically threw himself atop Loonrush to stay afloat. The pair scrabbled and fought towards the bank, with Roamblaze dashing out of the water as soon as his paws hit solid ground. He hissed and spat ferociously, wet fur clinging to him and making him look like a drenched rat. The other three patrol members couldn't keep their laughter in, especially as Roam trembled on the bank like a newborn kit, his eyes blown wide and terrified.

He glared at his patrol mates and mumbled something aggressive to himself, before stalking away from the lake and into the treeline beyond. Sandpiper stopped her laughter to watch him leave, her heart twinged with guilt. He really didn't like water.

"Oh, Roam, wait! I'm sorry, Loon didn't mean it-" She was pulling herself out of the water, quickly shaking as she made to dash after him, but roamblaze was already gone. She frowned softly and turned to glare at loonrush, who shifted uncomfortably under his patrol leader's scrutiny. So much for a pleasant patrol.
