With less than 100 votes I don’t think that a majority can be called on anything and I hope that there is some way to have more voices involved, especially those that have been left behind but are people who own/could be trading a lot of these pets around if it wasn’t inaccessible. I voted the last option in the poll because I truly don’t understand what most of the others mean.

i need say that to agree w a good number of the things you have said! maybe im just getting old and too used to the old trading methods, given i have not actually been a seriously active player since that time, but calculating rarity math has always been beyond me. i know some things off the top of my head, but it gets extremely confusing to actually sit and do the rarity math that is most well known. or for any for that fact, but im an extremely lazy CS player these days LOL. so i think it would be nice to actually explain more concrete, what gets you where. because sure, you can say "0.25 nons, 0.50, 0.75 nons, 1 non" but its like... how do you actually calculate that with confidence, especially when dealing with bulk of newer stuff.i've always felt this list was good in theory and i'll follow it, but that doesn't mean i wont be throwing myself at the FTT to ask people who get it better than myself & keep up with demand to make sure things aren't too askew.. (i just have hit the point where half the time i dont even care if its entirely fair, LOL)

Lacuna wrote:To be clear, when I say I want people to understand I honestly am focusing on people who own these pets and can/want to trade them but either they’ve always held back due to confusion or they are new to having pets of these rarities because of the update. If these people can be welcomed in to a system that is easy to understand the number of pets in circulation/up for trade will increase and that benefits everyone. I’m looking for basically a tier list like (these numbers are just an example but they feel pretty good to me):
Legacy OMGSRs/special store pets like skelebun (special values)
High OMGSRs that were always OMGSR or went OMGSR a long time ago (2:1 with standard OMGSRs or standard OMGSR + new OMGSR)
Standard OMGSRs that became OMGSR before this update (2:1 with new OMGSRs or new OMGSR + ER)
New OMGSRs that turned this update (2 or 3:1 with extremely rares)
Extremely Rares (2 or 3:1 with old very rares)
Old* Very Rares (base unit)
Old* Rares (trade 2:1 for very rares)
*my view of old is about 2009-2012/2013
And that tells people how to get between each of these groups without much hassle or math. I don’t remember who said this and I’m on mobile so it’s hard to check, but someone pointed out that we’ve changed three variables in the system (number of rarities, thresholds for each rarity, and active user window) which makes our old data a lot more useless. It’s time to reevaluate and do something new and let the users who have these pets now into the system. Someone else said on the announcement thread that admins likely evaluate the ceiling for how rare they want a pet to possibly get and rerelease accordingly, which I think makes total sense especially if you observe how rerelease litters with OMGSRs seem to have equal or even more of the rarest pets given out. So that’s why I gave old stores their own category because they can’t be controlled in this way.

I have a lot of high value pets (complete collection except for the pesky ur pps dragon that’s becoming the bane of my existence) and I’ve virtually given up on high value trading. In the past few years, it’s gotten so out of control that I don’t even want to touch it. I wouldn’t see myself dipping into my collection pets, but I still have a decent amount of high value extra pets that I haven’t really considered trading in awhile because of how the high value trading economy has become. I want to get back into high value trading, but it’s not worth it.
I’ve seen a lot of people saying that they don’t want anything to change because it’ll feel like they “lost value.” But just because something has been done for a long time doesn’t mean it should keep being done that way. Yes, if we evaluate things differently certain pets might seem to lose value in the short term (pets that I, personally, don’t think should have had the “value” associated with them that they do). But the “value” of pets that we’ve created and the huge gaps that we’ve made between pets I don’t think really exist at all. Of course some of the high value pets are worth more than others, but I think we’ve arbitrarily (through greed overtime it seems to me) created huge gaps that don’t really exist. Ignoring store pets, there’s no reason one omgsr pet should be traded for 6+ other omgsr pets, that doesn’t make sense. Of course not every omgsr pet will swap evenly, I’m not suggesting that, but that much more seems excessive.
Since we have the opportunity to change things, and we should since the rarities are much more accurate now, we should instead of just saying “we should keep it the same because I don’t want to lose the value of my pets.” We have to think about more than just ourselves and really figure out something that makes sense to more users. No one should have to treat high value trading like a full-time job to understand.

I sell my valuable pets for c$ and use those c$ to pay for art. I would love to offer pets for art but very few shops accept pet payment. Will I need to sell more list pets to get the same amount of c$ before the update?? Aka, if their value goes down the amount of c$ I sell them for goes down?
