Admittedly, I forgot about this end date. I had my legendary end date in mind, not this one. Whoops. Since there's a lack of entries anyway, I've decided to close this one at 5pm EST on the 23rd. That should give people entered enough time to throw some extras in or what have you. I know I keep extending this, but I just kind of wanted to see a bit more for this bab. Please don't edit past the time stated. Even if I don't announce that it's closed, it's still closed when it hits 5pm. You'll be disqualified if there are any edits past the date.

    Name Meaning
Centauri's name comes from a Beta Centauri which is one of the brightest stars, and a blue-white giant.

    Gender
    Female

    Holidays
When it comes to the holidays Centauri has very mixed feelings. In her past, she had been a very aggressive, and greedy Viscet. She had the ability to summon a frigid fire at will, but she abused that power later in life. As a Viscling she was given up to a camp that had existed many years that was well trained in dealing with Viscets who had powers. There was two kind of powers, minor powers and major powers. Minor powers were only known as minor power, but Viscets who had major powers were known as guardians. The line dividing the powers from each other was based on how the Viscet uses the power. A minor power is very short ranged and may only be used through touch like poison claws, or fire breath. Guardian powers can be summoned and cast into a very large area like the ability to create storms, or create large, untameable fires instantaneously like Centauri could. At first she got along well in the camp. She made friends and respected her teachers. It wasn't until she finally mastered her powers that she was changed.

In the camp, the young Viscets formed many groups of friends, but these groups were all divided by their powers. They always consisted of either Viscets who had already mastered their powers, and those who hadn't. Most Viscets who already had control over their powers stayed for selfish reasons. Of course, there was the few that stayed to help the camp that raised them, but many had found ways to live easily using the camp. They let the camp support them and feed them every day without putting in work, or have found something they wish to take from the camp.

When Centauri had gotten better control of her powers she caught the attention of these groups. She practiced using her power in the forest, alone most of the time, as she had gotten better and needed less support. The fires she created burned a bright blue, nearly white color. As she guided the fire along the ground a path of ice was left behind, her fires were special. Anything that came in contact with her fire was instantly frozen, and it took incredible heat to thaw anything her fires froze. Her power gave her confidence and she wasn't afraid to show it after having struggled with it for so many years. Much of the attention Centauri got only boosted her ego, so the approach of the powerful group was a pleasant surprise. They had plans that would need her powers. She agreed to help them, not out of kindness, but out of greed. Many villages were known to celebrate winter holidays in very extravagant ways and that was a major part of their plan. Centauris job during her time with the group was to case distractions with her powers, whether it be a light sprinkle of snow to excite them, a blizzard to scare them into hiding, or just creating pure chaos with the full power of her frozen flames.

    --

For years the trio raided villages and attacked packs of Viscets and creatures to steal their possessions. They would search for valuables and clues to a cave which contained the power they all saught. It was said that somewhere in the universe a cave was hidden that contained a sprite. The sprite was the heart of the universe and anyone strong enough to take it would have the power of a god. The three wanted the power, even though only one could have it. There was no plan to how they would use it, and inside they all knew conflict would arise the moment it was within reach. Each of them pushed this thought aside and assured themselves they would be the one to get it first.

    --

This holiday was the one. The group had a lucky break and found the final clues to the location of the cave. Together they fought through a swamp of mutated creatures. Spiders and snakes came at them constantly, but they were grown to massive sizes by the chaotic energy of the sprite. They had to work together constantly, each using their powers in turn to overcome different obstacles. They became increasingly difficult to defeat, but that was not the caves fault. As they neared the sprite greed clouded their minds. Each teammate became more pushy and less protective of each other. Centauri wanted to be the first to reach the sprite, she had to be. At this point, it wasn't even a need for power, but pride that drove her. In combat she delayed her strikes, allowing enemies eerily close to her partners, or thawed her ice just enough to put them in danger. She wouldn't harm them herself but if she could scare them out of wanting the sprite it would be good enough for her.

    --

For three years they had hunted villages for clues on where to find the sprites cave, and they had finally found it. The three stood frozen in awe. It had disguised itself for them for a long time. They had scrambled around the room trying to find it hurling accusations at each other. When it had finally revealed itself they were shocked. The air in the room changed as they realized what was before them. All at once they lunged toward the sprite but were stopped in their tracks by a voice.

    "I wouldn't touch that."

Centauri was shocked to see what appeared to be a bunch of floating bandages, surrounded by many eyes staring back at her from in front of the sprite.

"The sprite is unpredictable. I can assure you that you will not gain what you wish for.

She looked back to her allies only to see them frozen, staring at the creature before them. They seemed to actually be listening to it, contemplating if they should really give up. There was no way she was giving up she had worked too hard for this. As she has always learned to do, Centauri took the opportunity. With a large rush of fire, she froze the feet of her prior friends to the floor and rushed through the creature into the sprite. The moment her paws touched it she felt a cold rush rip through her, colder than the fire she possessed. She felt nothing and could see nothing around her. She felt a floating sensation, and that was all, until suddenly she was dragged for what felt like forever until her sight returned and she was once again in the cave. Before her, the sprite still stood the same as it once had. She reached out a paw to once again attempt to claim her prize, desperately this time, but she passed right through the ball of light. She stumbled back in shock, and was even more surprised when she ran into something. She had frozen her friends in place it couldn't possibly be them.

Upon turning around Centauri found herself face to face with a eerie viscet. His pelt was covered in the eyes she had seen previously along with the bandages draped over him.

    I warned you.

The sprite chose to spare you, but you are only a spirit now.

    Second Chance

Centauri wandered the cave aimlessly for years. She was trapped within the walls chained to the spirit. She no longer had a purpose or even the ability to interact with the living. She could only cause slight disruptions to the temperature or to physical objects if she really focused on them. Her impact is so small it is hardly noticeable.

The holidays passed by every year. She could see the faint glow of the sun reflecting off the snow outside. She would give anything at this point to join their celebrations even if just for a day.

Her wish was granted. After many years of living in solitude the sprite, or perhaps another outside source, presented her with a large locket. Within the locket a small blue flame was held. The flame was very weak and threatened to go out at any moment. It was circular with a large heart carved into it. Tentatively she reached for the locket. Her paw didn't pass through the shiny silver, and instead she felt the cold metal on her paw. She could feel again. Hastily she snatched up the locket and flipped it over in her paws until she noticed the engraving on the back which read kindle with kindness.

    The Locket
In order to stay in a physical form Centauri must carry out kind acts. The flame grows stronger and less likely to go out with every deed she does. She grew to like holidays for less selfish reasons after she began her new job. She made new friends, real ones, and spread happyness to many. As her flame grows stronger so do her powers. She uses a weak flame to freeze moisture in the air over various villages during their celebrations so they can enjoy the snow, no matter where they live.
