Wasn't it annoying when you THOUGHT you were going to do one thing, but changed your mind at the last minute? Ragu grumbled to himself, sourly eying the muddy expanse that spread out before him. Yeah, it was. It really was. Especially when it meant that you now had an ingredient you didn't need taking up space in the fridge! He reached a tentacle up as high as it would go and took hold of a dead branch on the nearest tree. This he snapped off and brought down to his level. He planned to use it to test the ground ahead, so he didn't go plunging into any hidden mud pits while he looked for the Marshmallow root that... he didn't technically NEED, but sorely wanted. And after all the trouble Frell had gone to getting that Alcreme cream for him....

Ragu resolved to use the creme anyway, in a seperate dish that he'd make just for his Milcrey friend. Maybe some sort of Halloween cake. Or creme-filled Doughnuts.

But that was later.

For now... Ragu grasped the stick firmly and began moving slowly forward, crawling from safe space to safe space, skirting the water's edge while staying as dry as possible. He couldn't swim, you see - the shape and style of his body just weren't built for it. So he was ever cautious, ever aware of his surroundings, and ever slightly afraid.

Thankfully the hunt went without incident. Ragu didn't even encounter a fellow ingredient hunter! He just spied the plant he needed (after an hour or so of sloshing through unspeakable slime), gingerly reached into the water, pulled one up by its base, sloshed it around a bit to clean off the mud, then patted it dry on a hummock of grass and slipped it into the pouch he wore at the base of his neck for just such occasions.

It was time to go home and clean himself up; time to relax with a massive blanket and a hot cup of tea. Once he'd done that, he'd return to the Appletun's abode and launch himself into the final step of this great misadventure: baking!

"I think.." Chester spoke up after Auntie told them their task for the day, "that I may have an idea this time!"
Champ's excitement and Auntie's warm smile made every bit of his bravery to speak up completely worth it.

..And that was how the duo ended up in the middle of a field with a bowl of some of the custard that they had made the previous day.
"Hey I, uh, I made this delicious custard the other day but like, I made too much! You there- um- ! Would you like some?"
Chester stuttered out their practiced lines as Champ waited out of sight of the other pokemon.
Chester's words immediately got the attention of the trevenant in the field, who, immediately curious, began to approach the source of the voice.
"Custard? Why, that smells delicious! I would love some, young one!" The trevenant exclaimed with a bright joy that made Chester feel slightly bad for the way Champ crept up to the berries as the larger pokemon made their way up to the bowl that Chester was holding out.
Chester was able to hold a joyful conversation with the older pokemon as they gleefully ate the custard, while Champ plucked several figgy berries from the stack.
When the rufflet was done, he made a little motion of "come on, let's get out of here before they notice!" And Chester frowned sheepishly at the trevenant and the two of them left.
"Please feel free to come back again!" Called the trevenant.
"Thanks for the berries!" Called back Chester.

You'll need four total ingredients to create a pie. One that adds flavor, one for color, another for aroma, and finally one for charm!

1. Strawberry Sweets will add a fruity flavor to your pie! Who doesn't like a good strawberry pie or a nice tart? The Battle Cafe stocks plenty of these delights! Don't worry if you're not the battling type.. I'm sure someone kind can win you a sweet~ I wouldn't want an alcremie to give up their precious sweets for a pie, so don't swipe any if you can help it... I might be a little dissapointed in that case.

2. Corsula Shed will give your pie a ghostly white color! The discarded pieces of a Corsula's exterior end up in the shallows of beaches after mass Cursola evolutions! Sometimes branches break off of the Rock/Water types as well, but these slowly age and don't often turn this glowing white color. It seems to reflect more light than other white dyes or pigments I've found! I heard there was a bloom of Cursola evolutions a few hours ago... Pretty strange, given how it was just a new moon. Maybe you can investigate while you're out there and report back for some "Old Lady Gossip"

3. Wet Moss adds a.. adds an uhm.. Aroma for sure to your pie. Hee-hee... Hoo... This ingredient must have been from my experimental phase last fall- Don't mind this one actually. Wh- What?? You want to add the moss... "for fun"? I assure you it just smells like soggy foliage dearie... I suppose a grass type might enjoy such things but... Well. Who am I to stop you..? I did tell you I'd make what you wanted... Pick a patch of clean moss at least...

4. Chopple Berry adds a warming charm to your pie! This Berry contains a substance that generates heat. It can even heat up a chilly heart! Your pie would always taste freshly baked with this berry inside! A Buneary at a nearby Ranch near the mountain pass who collects them in her fluff for pokemon who aren't used to cold weather in the mountains~ Though, she's quite skiddish and surprises easily. She'll run off at the drop of a hat! She can hide for hours... So I suppose that's really the only challenge... You don't seem too intimidating! You should be fine, hoo-hoo~

A frown appeared upon Leo's face. He wasn't much of a battler, but then again, no one he associated with was either. But who was he to simply give up and go home? That was not that type of Linoone. Even if he couldn't battle, Leo decided that his best bet would be going to the Battle Cafe either way. When he got there, he attempted to fit into the audience and watched the battles unfold before him. On occasion, he would go to the other guests dining in and ask if they had any Strawberry Sweets to spare him for a delicious dish he'd be making. Most of them shook their head no, for they couldn't even win a battle themselves to win the prize.

He had asked everyone located in the Battle Cafe, all of which, replied that they were unable to help his cause. With a sigh, Leo figured he'd have to find another way to obtain the Strawberry Sweets as an ingredient for his dish. As he walked out, he felt a Pokemon nudge him. "Hey there, folks around here have been saying that a Linoone has been walking around asking for some Strawberry Sweets. I'm a frequent battler here and not to brag- but I win quite often. You can have my winnings from today." The Pokemon said as it handed Leo the Strawberry Sweets.

Leo smiled at the stranger and nodded his head in thanks. "I appreciate it. Perhaps after I make the dish, I'll come by and let you taste test it for me!" [261]

"Wait, there is moss around here?" Kara speaks up excitedly as soon as Auntie Appletun mentions the Wet Moss ingredient. At Auntie Appletun's extremely confused response, Kara giggles. "Oh, not for the pie! I want to take it back as a souvenir for a friend back home! They love moss, apparently it is delicious!"

Neither Mark nor Eric appear to see any issues with this.

"Thank you, Auntie Appletun! See you tomorrow!" Kara says cheerfully, before rushing off, presumably to find the moss. Mark rushes after her, while Eric trails behind. And thus begins the epic quest to Find The Moss.

The trio starts searching everywhere; the trees in the nearby woods, around the lakes in town, and they even go beyond the town to search for more lakes and rivers in the area, but they find no signs of the elusive moss throughout several hours of searching... Nonetheless, Kara is determined to see her quest through, and Mark and Eric are at this point genuinely invested in finding out whether they will be able to find any moss, so the trio continues on.

Then, just as Mark is internally debating suggesting they pause the moss search to locate some berries for a snack, they come across a cave alongside one of the rivers outside town. The trio heads inside and, after wandering through the cave for a bit, find an enormous patch of moss growing near some water.

They found the moss!

"Perfect!" Kara says, happily gathering some moss. Eric and Mark exchange a glance and a shrug, then proceed to help her gather moss.

[Don't worry, I don't actually intend to use this in the pie. probably. However, I am physically incapable of not Finding The Moss whenever an opportunity to Find The Moss presents itself to me, so here we are. I do want to say though that this absolutely made my day, so thank you for adding this as an option, and allowing me to Find The Moss. Also I had way too much fun with this lol]

indentWhen Aggraligatr finished with the pecans they laid out all of the ingredients they'd collected so far on the table in front of Auntie. For flavor they wanted to rely on the pecans for the bulk of the flavor in the pie, though they were unsure and almost a little nervous about how the other ingredients would come together and if they'd be any good. Auntie helped tamper some of their anxiety by showing them the cramberries she had candied while they had been collecting other ingredients and crushing pecans. Aggaligatr asked if they could crush up the berries and use it to layer with the pecans to make the filling. Auntie remarked about how the cramberries would also add a nice refreshing aroma to the profile of the pie. Their gentle smile helped encourage Aggraligatr more and they picked up the last two ingredients, and after a brief discussion with Auntie they realized they would probably be mixed into the pie crust. Auntie shared that the airy effect of the alcreamie cream they managed to pick up would make the crust a little more pastry like. Aggraligatr asked if they could make extra dough for the crust and layer thin sheets of it in between filling layers. Auntie found the idea iteresting and started mixing the dough for the crust and layers while Aggraligatr finshed crushing the berries together. While Auntie was still working the dough Aggraligatr had the idea to mix a small amount of the cream with the crushed berries, and candied the pecans in some of the ectoplasmic sugar. They crushed the candied pecans and added them to the creamie berry mixture while Auntie prepared the pie crust. It was a comedic scramble to try and make sure they properly set up the pie now that it was near invisible. After a degree of difficulty they managed to fix the pie crust and and get a layer of filling in before the struggle with the crust began again. They managed to get the the layer back in place and then added more of the filling mixture, and did that back and forth a few more times before Aggraligatr felt ready to bake it. Auntie being the larger expert on pies helped prep the baking area while Aggraligatr helped get the pie into place. All they had to do now was wait until the pie was ready, and Aggraligatr was excited to see how it would turn out.

This...this was perfect! Red was looking for the right charm, to find something to fit with his plan for this pie, and here it was! he'd love to have a pie that would warm up hearts! He started his travel to the mountain before he could even think to grab a coat or anything to protect himself from the cold. Surely he'd be in and out rather quickly, he wasn't exactly the scary type after all.

By the time he got to the mountain pass, his tune had changed quite a bit. His hood was definitely helpful for the temperature, but it wasn't exactly enough, causing the small pup to lay down and try to warm up for a bit, basket laid next to his body. It took him a moment before a berry was placed in front of his face, looking up and seeing large puffballs of fur. "Oh, oh! You're awake! Good-good! Please eat, warm up!" The pokemon said, pushing the berry closer, squishing it against Red's face. Red nodded, taking a bite out of the berry and feeling himself warm up significantly, now comfortable and able to pull himself off of the ground. Also being able to fully see the Buneary standing next to him.

The buneary noticed the small basket next to Red. "Oh! Did Auntie send you? I see you have a big basket, perfect size to carry many ingredients!" Red nodded. "Yes, I wanted to get some Chopple Berries so that I could make my apple pie warm and comforting, but maybe I got too excited over it...I ended up not bundling up properly..." He laughed nervously, only for him to look over as the buneary dropped a few berries into his basket. "Oh, here you go then! I've got plenty, so I'll give you a few so you can keep warm on your way back! And also even more just in case you want to come back and say hi! Good luck on your pie!"
