Choice of Ingredient(s): (Pick) Flavor - Pumpkin/Color - Apicot Berry
Prompt(s):

Pumpkin pies were popular around this time of year, so Mark, Eric, and Kara figured that pumpkin would be a good ingredient to have on hand for a pie. Besides, if they didn't end up using it, they figured Auntie Appletun could make herself a pie with it. So, the three headed out to the garden to search for clues as to where the pumpkins might have been taken. It was somewhat of a mess, with large indents in the ground that were presumably made by the pumpkins as the thieves dragged them away. On the plus side, they seemed like they would be easy enough to follow, and the thieves probably could not have gotten far with how heavy the pumpkins seemed to have been.

Following the trails, the trio eventually came across a worn down fence with several large gaps, which the pumpkins appeared to have been pushed through. Mark immediately ran through, being the most adventurous of the three, and Kara and Eric exchanged a glance before following, not wanting the sobble to get himself into trouble, even if they would have preferred to do some reconnaissance before rushing in to unknown territory...

...And just as they had worried, Mark appeared to have stumbled directly into a large group of wild Pokemon who were feasting on pumpkins. The wild Pokemon were just staring at Mark in confusion for now, but soon enough they jolted out of their bewilderment and took fighting stances. "What are you guys doing here?" one asked, glaring at the trio.

"We're here to retrieve some of Auntie Appletun's pumpkins," Mark replied, managing to sound and act more confident than he felt with a bunch of Pokemon poised to attack him.

"And what makes you think we know anything about that?" another demanded.

"...All the pumpkins around you kinda gave it away." Eric deadpanned.

"Oh. Uhhhh.... These are different pumpkins! Completely unrelated!"

"So I suppose all those tracks leading from the pumpkins directly to Auntie Appletun's garden are just for decoration, then?" Kara asked with a raised eyebrow.

"...Yep!"

"You don't actually expect us to buy that, do you?" Eric said, looking unimpressed.

"Okay, okay, you can take some of the pumpkins back! Stop the interrogation already!" With that, the group of wild Pokemon backed off, allowing the trio to select some of the pumpkins that hadn't yet been eaten and start pushing them back to Auntie Appletun's house.

---

Eric thought the idea of a berry that could make the pie either of two colors and give it different flavors as well was really cool, so Kara and Mark agreed to help him find some. The trio headed to the woods in search of some campers or rangers who might have some spare berries. Unfortunately, the first group of campers they came across didn't have any Apicot Berries, and neither did a ranger that passed by as they continued along the trail.

"I guess these berries really are rare," Eric commented after a few more failed attempts of asking campers if they had seen any Apicot Berries. "We can head back if you want."

"No way! We are going to help you find them," Kara replied, looking determined. Mark nodded in agreement.

"Thanks," Eric said, and the trio continued on, asking anyone they came across about the elusive berries.

Eventually, they had gone quite far into the woods, still without any luck, and were starting to worry that they might need to turn back soon so they wouldn't get lost. Just then, they spotted a camper who walked out from among some trees with a bunch of berries. "Oh, hello," the camper said, "you've come quite far along the trail, usually I'm the only one who goes this deep into the woods. What brings you here?"

"We're looking for Apicot Berries," Mark explained.

"Really? Well, you're in luck, I just so happened to find a few earlier today. Here, you can have them." The camper replied, offering each of the trio a berry.

"Thank you!" the trio chorused, and soon enough they were heading back to Auntie Appletun's house.

Choice of Ingredient(s): Pumpkin
Flavor
Prompt(s): 209 words
Of course, the pumpkins were gone. Why would they not be?! Hopefully, they wouldn't be too far away by now. Stepping out into the garden he looked around, hunting for possible signs of the missing gourds. With a heavy sigh, Siren peered at the ground. Were those drag marks or just roots, something along those lines maybe? The ghost knelt and checked the floor a little more carefully, it was indeed drag marks he had found not roots.

Following them would be relatively easy considering Auntie A had mentioned the pumpkins were rather large in size. With a yawn Siren padded out, blue eyes focused on the trail. The sound of arguing reached his ears before too long and he grumbled lightly. An argument was the last thing he wanted to hear right now.

Siren eventually caught sight of the large pumpkin, it didn't look any worse for wear. The thieves were a pair of Pokemon he didn't recognise, one small and the other seemingly an evolution of the former. With a roll of his eyes, the Zoruark strolled forward and lifted the pumpkin with ease.

"I'll be taking this back to Auntie A now, if you have any issues you may take them up with her" he hissed.

Nugget has never been in the woods before, so looking for apricot berries with a ranger was the safest option. The ranger was kind enough to lead him around and show off other plants, but of course Nugget was more focused on the berry. He didn’t like the woods very much and thought the sooner they found what was needed, the faster they could leave. After all, the forest is a scary place for pokemon who don’t live there! It did take some time for them to find one, since they are rare, but the ranger had the little nickit back to Aunties in no time!

Day: 4
Choice of Ingredient(s): Aroma - Raticate Calw
Prompt(s):
Ragu couldn't understand 'Auntie's' desire to 'protect' ingredient seekers by giving them bare-bones information, then just... turning them loose to stumble about like babes in the wood. Surely that was MORE dangerous than playing it straight? Filling in the blanks? He let out a massive sigh then turned another page in the book he was searching. Raticate Claw... Raticate Claw... where the heck did he remember hearing about Raticate Claw...? Being an accomplished chef himself, the Shuckle knew he'd stumbled across the plant somewhere before, in some recipe or the other. And unlike 'Auntie', the book HAD divulged the secret of where it grew. But which book? Which recipe? He HAD to have this plant for his pie!

Disgusted, Ragu slammed the book shut and shoved it aside. This was getting him nowhere! He'd been flipping through books for the past hour, hoping to find what he wanted by blind chance. Raticate Claw lent your dish a delicate aroma of nutmeg and ginger. Ok, yes. Good. Which dishes would benefit from this? He rested his head on a tentacle, using another to drum out a steady beat on the table top. All sorts of things, really. Soufflé... scones... casserole... pie... stew.... Ragu stopped drumming and sat bolt upright. Stew! Harvest squash stew! THAT'S where he'd come across this ingredient before! How could he have been so stupid?! He lept away from the table as fast as he could, nearly knocking over his chair, and rushed into the kitchen. There, instead of reaching for another book, he began pawing through the little box he used to keep his special recipes - ones he'd created himself, ones he'd gotten from family, ones he'd traded for with other chefs. THAT's why he hadn't been able to find it! What he needed wasn't in a book at all - it was in this box! Ragu greedily pulled the card from the box and flipped it over, twice reading the note someone had scrawled there long ago before letting out a whoop of joy and holding the card aloft.

    He was in business!

Half an hour later saw Ragu steadily making his way toward a light in the darkness, damp mists swirling around his squat form and the burden he carried. He could feel unseen eyes watching his progress - had, in fact, felt them for a while now - but he did his best to ignore the sensation. He wasn't about to give up. Not now. Not so close to his goal....

All of a sudden, a huge shape loomed out of the darkness, inserting itself between the Shuckle and his goal.

"Who are you? Why do you come here?"

Ragu spluttered slightly, then found his voice - thin and nervous as it was. "I come seeking dry goods. Ingredients for a dish. What I seek grows nowhere else in this region, and... um... I brought things to trade."

The figure before him was silent for a long moment, during which interval Ragu grew increasingly twitchy. Then, unexpectedly, it began to laugh. "You and the rest of the world, bub. What is it with Raticate Claw lately?"

Now it was Ragu's turn to be silent.

"What makes you think we won't just jump you? Steal what you're packing and abandon you someplace darker then even this? You are one and we are... many..." The shadow seemed to loom larger, more menacingly. It didn't seem to belong to any Pokemon Ragu had ever heard of.

"Uh.. Um.." The shuckle swallowed hard. "I honestly hadn't thought of that."

    "Fool."

    "Yes. Maybe...."

    "Definitely. No bones about it."

    "I prefer 'Optimist', actually."

    "Po-tay-toe, Po-ta-to."

Ragu frowned. "Yes. Well." Was he imagining it, or did the voice sound different now? Ragu squinted into the darkness, doing his best to see whoever was threatening him. "May I pass now?"

"No. Drop the bag and leave while you can."

"Actually, I'd rather not." It was then that Ragu used Sunny Day. He was tired of this and eager to be on his way! Under the influence of the move, the fog cleared at once and the woods became bright - unnaturally so - as if the it were noon and not neigh on midnight. The shadow reared back... and dissolved into more than a dozen Alolan Rattata. They'd been standing on one another's shoulders to appear larger and more menacing than they actually were. Now, startled by the sudden light, they fled in all directions, squealing angrily and shaking their tails in the air. All of Ragu's fear went with them. He found himself alone in the woods, laughing merrily as a false sun burned in the sky above.

Once he collected himself the Shuckle began poking about in the underbrush, and soon located a source of Raticate Claw. The recipe card had been right - it was truly abundant here! It made him wonder what dishes the natives feasted upon... when they weren't bullying innocent passerby, anyway.

    Ragu smiled Wryly.

His mission accomplished, the false sun fading, he hurried back the way he had come - toward home.

Choice of Ingredient(s): Charm: Alcremie Cream
Prompt(s): Alex and Smith looked at each other, and knew immediately the ingredient they had to get! Making their way out, they came across the Alcremie in question not too far away. Said alcremie looked frightened of the machoke, but he quickly knelt sown to their leveled and offered out a donut. "We want to be your friend," he reassures. "You see Smith and I have a passion for sweets! And we hate fighting..."

The alcremie smiled then, making their way closer and taking the offered donut. Munching on it they made a few spins in place, pleased... before offering some of their own cream in return. "Thank you friend!" Alex spoke, pleased. He gave Smith a wink before looking at the alcremie. "Let me know if you'd like to drop by our shop again sometime. Nice to meet you!"

Choice of Ingredient(s): Charm; Alcremie Cream
Prompt(s):

Lucy sat up excitedly after hearing the name of the ingredient, she had heard from others that the cream Alcremies make is one of those things you need to try before you pass just because it’s so delicious. She knew right away that they needed to get this for their pie! Though Lucy isn’t a very scary pokemon she decided her best bet to get the item would be to befriend an Alcremie. She told Auntie that she’d go get it, she got up from her chair and rushed out the door to start looking. After searching around the town for a while she was finally able to find one who was leaving a small bakery. The wooper rushed over and greeted her and decided to be honest with the Alcremie about why she had been looking for them. The pokemon seemed to like Lucy’s honesty, she smiled and said “ Well I do like that you told me the truth, others haven’t been as nice but before I can give you the ingredient you’re looking for I’d like to give you some tasks for me so that I can trust you more”
The little wooper nodded her head, ready to do whatever it takes. The Alcremie tells her to wait and heads back inside the bakery, after a few minutes she comes back out with a note and a basket of baked goods.

“Here you go little one, deliver all of these items to the places listed on the note then meet me at the library. If you deliver all of them then I’ll give you the berries and cream you need for your pie” She places the note on the basket and hands it to Lucy”

“Yes ma’am, I’ll be back before you know it!” Lucy grabbed the basket with her mouth and off she went waddling away to deliver the items.

Since Lucy was still pretty new to this town she didn’t know where everything was so in between deliveries she’d ask others for directions, which most other pokemon were happy to help her with, making the task go by pretty fast. After getting help from others she was able to deliver all but one item. She couldn’t tell what it was since it was in a container but as she looked at the note that was given to her, there was no one left to deliver the item to. She sighed, she had tried her best to get the task done. She didn’t understand how she messed up but with the list done and nothing else to do the sad wooper made her way to the library. Outside on a bench sat Alcremie with a book in her lay, Lucy went up to her.

She gave a brief smile at the Alcremie before saying “Hi again!… I.. I’m sorry.. I couldn't complete the task you gave me..” she picked up the basket and handed it to the other pokemon.
The Alcremie opened up the basket then looked over at the wooper with a smile “Did you look inside the container at all?”
Lucy shook her head no “it belonged to someone else so I never opened it but since there was no name on the note for it I couldn’t deliver it..”
Alcremie let out a soft laugh “You did the task perfectly little one, this container was a test. I liked your honesty and wanted to see if you’d keep being honest with me even if it meant not getting the item you wanted, and you were”
Lucy’s face went from sad to shocked then to excitement.
Alcremie picked up the empty container from the basket so she could open it & put the berries and cream inside it, she placed it on top of the wooper’s head.
“There you go, I hope your pie turns out perfect and get back safe, okay?”
“Yes of course! Thank you so much, goodbye!!!” After that Lucy carefully ran back to Auntie’s to show her the new ingredient.

Choice of Ingredient(s): Charm - Alcreme Cream
Prompt(s):
The instant this ingredient appeared on 'Auntie's' list, Ragu knew exactly what he was going to do. It was really quite simple! All that was required, to get some fresh cream from an Alcreme... was to ask his Milcrey friend to give him a helping hand! So Ragu went straight to Frell.

The Shuckle found his friend outside, floating in front of their easel and happily daubing watercolour paint onto a canvas. Fall was the perfect time to paint, Frell had asserted, because the weather is perfect and the colours so varied. Not at all like spring or summer - too much flat green. Fall had reds and oranges, yellows and blues, greens and purples! The season was a veritable rainbow of hue! And the little Pokemon's enthusiasm came across clearly in their work.

Ragu stood for a moment, admiring the Milcrey's painting, before clearing his throat politely to get their attention. Frell finished the shape they were working on before putting their brush down and turning to face their as yet unseen visitor. The instant they spotted Ragu, their face lit up. ""Oh! Hello!" They wiped their hands on a cloth then waved at the Shuckle. "What's up?"

"The usual." Ragu shrugged. "Your painting is amazing so far, by the way."

Frell bobbled happily in the air, their smile becoming even wider. "Thank you! I appreciate it!" They replaced the cloth and floated closer to Ragu, closing the distance between themselves and the Shuckle so they could speak at a more normal volume. "You didn't come out here to see my painting though." Frell winked knowingly. "Only an emergency could drag you out of the kitchen. What do you need?"

Ragu shook his head. "Ok, Ok, you got me. I DO need something."

The Milcrey made a gesture that amounted to: 'Well, cough it up then!'

With this encouragement, he forged ahead. "My latest culinary project is a pie - a special pie for the harvest season, created from unique ingredients that have been picked by tentacle at the height of freshness for their choice aroma, colour, charm and flavour."

    Frell raised an eyebrow.

"I believe you can help me get one of the things I need. A cup of Alcreme creme."

    "No problem."

"I can compensate you for your time, and if..."

    "I said: no problem."

    "But I..."

    "Ragu?

    "Yes?"

    "Shush."

"Um." The shuckle blushed slightly and began to study Frell's painting intensely.

"Give me a couple of hours to finish up here and I'll ask around. Should have it by end of day!" The Milcrey floated back over to their painting and picked up the brush again. "If I were an Alcreme I'd give you a cup myself, but since I haven't gotten my hands on a candy yet..." They shrugged.

"Thank you so much, Frell! I really do owe you!" Ragu was ecstatic. He beamed widely and clasped his front tentacles together. "I'll give you a taste of the pie when it's finished!"

Frell nodded solemnly and dipped their brush into paint, smiling faintly. "I'll hold you to that."

Prompt(s): (84 words) Going by what the two of them picked as their first ingredient, May-Reo and Salvia decided that the green Apicot Berry would suit their pie. May-Reo sent Salvia to fly ahead to scout out the forest to find someone who was picking berries, while May-Reo trailed behind to search around the forest, just in case he stumbled onto the berries himself.

Thankfully Salvia found a nice hiker who had a collection of berries that they were willing to share with the two of them.

Day: 4
Choice of Ingredient(s): Flavor/Aroma
Prompt(s):
Flavor
Flavor: Pumpkin! It's all Rosie's been waiting for! Really, what else would she flavor her Halloween pie with? It HAD to be pumpkin! And she knows she's seen pumpkins in Auntie's garden, so...

...Of course, today of all days is the day they had to be stolen.

Well, that's just fine. She can probably just go to the store for it. Sorry, Auntie, but she's already helping you make new pies, so...

Perhaps you may be familiar with the TV series Murder She Wrote - a sweet older lady who is also incredibly nosy, and just so happens to consistently get herself involved in all sorts of mysteries in her sleepy little town. Perhaps she's not even trying to get involved - the mystery just finds her.

Perhaps something similar has happened to Rosie, now, and perhaps she returns several hours later with both pumpkins and culprits in tow, because she told herself she was going to the store but she just couldn't help but look in the garden, and one thing led to another, and well...

Aroma
Next on her list is the aroma, Nutmeg and Ginger. Rosie sighs. She'd wanted to make something fully unique, all mixing and matching of ingredients, but without cinnamon, this is simply her next best bet. But Raticate Claw is what she needs to give her this aroma, and that means finding Raticate to give a manicure to, and... ...she simply doesn't know any. Perhaps she could set up a shop in town, but it's not exactly like she has a license...

This means, perhaps, something even more dangerous than simply going to find them herself: she goes to see Thanatos.

Rosie... doesn't know Thanatos all that well. Knows him less even than Nero, less than that little Coinpur she's been seeing around. She thinks he prefers it that way. He's got a real air of mystery to him, a guy who liked to be left alone. The kind it was best not to linger around. Perhaps that was horrible of her to say! But still...

She pushes back her feelings of unease as she approaches his home, knocks on his door. He doesn't open it - he's got a little slider on the door though, so she can see when he opens it to peer out at her. "...What is it."

"Um. I was wondering if you could do me a favor? I'll be sure to repay you of course, but I was wondering... since you... well, since you're you - would you happen to be able to get me some raticate claw? I need it for my pies."

There's a kind of dumbfounded silence, then a heavy sigh. The slider closes, and Rosie fears she's been rejected. Still, she hesitates on the doorstep for just a bit longer, just in case-

"I have no idea what use it could have in a pie, but you're in luck. I have some already," he says as he reopens the slider, dropping out a little cloth bag that she has to scramble to catch. "Don't bother trying to repay me, and don't ask how I got it."

The slider slams shut again before she can even say thank you. She stares up at it for a while longer, before shrugging it off. Well. Not HER business if he wanted to be grumpy about things. She had a pie to make.
