Amongst the festivities of the town, there is a rumor spreading. It’s said that as the spirit world overlaps with ours, a dark creature emerges from the forest just south of town, bringing chaos and destruction in its wake. Now, trainers and Pokemon alike have gathered to see if the rumors are true.
The sky grows dark and red smoke fills the air. It’s hard to see, groups huddle close together to avoid being separated. Two piercing blue lights appear in the sky, and the smoke lifted, condensing until the form of a Pokemon is revealed! It circles above them, watching, waiting. An overwhelming sense of dread settles across all who are there, but when the Darkrai x Yveltal lets out a horrible screech, they ready themselves.
Hello! Welcome to Heartcatch's second raid battle! This is a definite way to get legendary pokemon MYO slots which we will be hosting within events. All you have to do to get the guaranteed legendary slot is to complete the prompt!
Please write about your pokemon's involvement in the battle with Darkrai x Yveltal! You must use at least one pokemon but can use multiple if you would like. This does not have to be canon with your personal lore for your pokemon. Please include word count within your form!
Your pokemon does not have to fight Darkrai x Yveltal, hence why I used the word "involvement" interpret this how you wish!
Minimum: 1000 words or 1 shaded art piece with a scene (must have elements in the background, midground and foreground.)

There were some things about the land that Zayne hailed from that he simply didn’t understand. Some pokemon were simply born far stronger than others, right? So it only made natural sense that one was to revere such creatures ordinarily. After all, he looked up to Sparrow his whole life. Whether it was due to fairy tales, or having met the Type:Null himself in reality, there was no doubt that he held the man in the highest of regards. So why was it, then, that he was watching this current display taking place between his idol and this…thing?
He wasn’t even entirely sure what this pokemon was, but what he did know was that Sparrow had just been sent flying across the field with a set of vibrant blue streaks racing off after him. This was supposed to be a fun little break-- it was his favorite holiday, and Sparrow had agreed to it. So why was it that he was watching Sparrow fight-- you know…not take a break? Well, there was technically a reason for that. That dread…Sparrow simply could not let such a thing stand. It was abhorrent; a contradiction to everything that he believed his deity stood for, and as such the Type:Null had to stand in its path.
Sparrow slowly picked himself back up not long after he hit the ground, shaking his head slowly. The fused pokemon let out an ear piercing shriek that echoed across the darkened sky, but it didn’t deter him from returning to a defensive stance and staring up at the beast.
“Xerix, grant me strength--”
Before he could even finish that thought, the Yveltal fusion sent him flying once again, the Type:Null letting out a yelp of pain. He wheezed as he hit the ground once more, electing to just lay there for a moment. Just what was this thing? He had never felt so much overwhelming dread before. He had already upset Zayne by challenging it to a fight, now he was getting his butt kicked by it! Something had to give, surely. He hadn’t exactly expected it to be his body that was giving up though, as this time he was having some technical difficulties standing again.
“X-Xerix, g-grant me--”
“Give it a rest, my dearest creation,” A voice responded in kind, a warm light enveloping the injured legendary. The pain in his body was eased, though getting up still felt rather unlikely. What? Who answered him like that??
He didn’t have time to think about that as another heart-wrenching screech sounded across the field, ruining the poor thing’s eardrums once more. Unlike Sparrow, however, Zayne had an incredibly clear view of just what had spoken. A radiant serpent clad in white and gold, wings outspread and staring down the equally massive bird of shadow and dread.
Was this…Sparrow’s deity? Zayne couldn’t entirely make sense of what was happening, but the dread that he had felt had been replaced by calm when he was enveloped in the warm glow of the quezacoatl’s light. Able to finally think straight, he hurried to Sparrow’s aid to attempt to help the pokemon up onto his feet again.
“...Xerix…?” Sparrow mumbled softly, woozy as he stared through the slats of his helmet. He saw the feathers falling, the only lights he could see in the otherwise dark area. He received no response that he could properly recognize-- instead, a monstrous roar responded in kind to the Yveltal fusion’s own screeching.
Sparrow’s display had not gone unnoticed by Xerix, having come to answer his poor ailing creature’s pleas for assistance. It had not been quite what he wanted, but it was what -Xerix- wanted. It wasn’t like the Type:Null could particularly stop him in the first place, anyway. The two legendary fusions stared one another down, their gazes unwavering in a standstill. Acknowledging one another, perhaps even sizing up each other’s own respective strength…
All of a sudden, the Yveltal fusion turned and flew back toward the town, shadows following it-- and Xerix gave chase. He would not stand for the furthered endangerment of those that were unfortunate enough to not be grouped together. His own body was like a beacon, the ivory scales and feathers radiating light to cut through the thick fog and shadows brought forth by the beast.
While he might have come to Sparrow’s aid initially, Zayne’s eyes were more than a bit glued to the scene of the two legendary fusions duking it out in a fight for control of the darkness. It was a poetic sort of duel, the light and the dark. Yet…he still didn’t quite understand why any of them had to fight in the first place. Sure, the Yveltal fusion had been scary and certainly had disrupted things, but that didn’t mean that it was inherently a bad pokemon. Right??
After a moment of contemplating this and making sure Sparrow would be alright on his own, Zayne made an abrupt executive decision of his own and ran off after the two that were chasing each other through the sky. He couldn’t fly, but the two were still keeping low enough to the ground that he had an idea of how to get their attention. He just needed a clear enough space to pull it off.
The Luxio fusion hurried as fast as his legs could carry him, leaping up a set of haybales in order to vault himself up onto the rooftops. The two were still nearby, based on how each screech was answered with a roar in kind. The sudden light into darkness again was honestly kind of nauseating to stare at, even for Zayne whose vision was impaired. However, he planted his four paws down and steadied himself, trying to keep track of the two as he worked up the nerve.
One.
Two.
Bingo.
Zayne let out a ferocious roar, blasting away the fog and shutting down Xerix’s own lightshow-- to both of the legendaries’ surprise. Silence befell the two; while they weren’t injured, they certainly were more than a bit apalled and shocked by what they had just had happen to both of them. Zayne’s legs immediately began to wobble a bit as he recoiled from the use of Roar of Time, plopping himself onto his rear end for the sake of safety. The last thing he wanted to do after getting both of their attention was fall off the roof.
“LOOK! Why can’t you two get along?! It’s almost Halloween-- its okay to be afraid every once in a while, right?! I don’t even think he’s meaning to scare anyone!!” Zayne called out, panting. Was he really sassing a legendary pokemon? He wasn’t sure what to think here. Sparrow was going to have his hide for this. It wasn’t just any legendary after all…the man kind of revered the guy.
Xerix, however, gave this some thought with a frown. He had come here on behalf of Sparrow, and yet…Sparrow’s young charge seemingly had a point. While he wouldn’t dignify him with a response, he exchanged a look with the Yveltal fusion before departing in a flash of light.
At the very absolute least…maybe the Yveltal x Darkrai wouldn't be quite so scary to Zayne and Sparrow any more.

Ashen and Rylee approached the crowd, curious as to why it was here in their vacation, a Halloween fair. They looked around and spotted a familiar face, a dessert bulbasaur carrying a jar of dirt accompanied by some sort of blue herdier. Ashen wasn't sure exactly, but they approached the familiar faces despite the confliction on whatever pokemon was next to Soot.
The air was tense, trainers waiting with suspense at the forest's edge for something Ashen and Rylee didn't know about. Ashen finally made it to Soot, who was cheering with his trainer, who seemed to be nervous and tense like the rest of the crowd. The blue herdier wagged his tail and greeted the two pokemon.
"I just came over here to accompany Soot" he barked, his expression turned grim "Don't really have any friends besides Soot" he looked to the ground awkwardly, shuffling his paws as Ashen changed the conversation giddily.
"Does anyone know what's going on.?" she chirped while bouncing around, too exited about what could be happening to spark this crowd.
The blue herdier shrugged his shoulder and let out of low bark, making all the eeves and other dog like pokemon jerk their heads to him. Soot chuckled under his breath, waiting for the chaos to calm down before speaking,
"I think we're going on a hike! Or maybe it's a raid!" his cacti on his back shook eagerly with excitement. Ashen just stared at him, puzzled
"What's a raid battle?" she barked
"It's like a battle, but with like a Miiilionn trainers!" he exaggerated, too giddily looking into the quickly forming smoke.
"Is it just me or is the air tighter and stuffier?" Rylee barked, sniffling and panting as the smoke got heavier and heavier.
Suddenly they were all thrust forward by the trainers behind them, they approached the heels of the trainers before them with caution.
Suddenly Rylee yelped "Look out!" as he dove into the crowd, Ashen, Soot, and the strange Pokemon looked up to see two piercing teal orbs getting dangerously close to the ground. The people around them dove as the pokemon swooped up in a moment pure chaos, it was as if it was bragging as to it's flying skills.
The smoke had lightened sometime when Ashen wasn't focusing, she looked around and realized that nobody she knew was nearby. She was frightened and panting on the floor of the field staring on at the beast.
Ashen had never heard of this being, some sort of demon nightmare dragon thing swirled in the sky. Releasing waves of energy and attacking any pokemon nearby.
Ashen saw to her horror Rylee jumping up to attack the beast, his jaw agape and flaming in a move Ashen couldn't recall at this moment, but it didn't matter. As with one cry from the beast Rylee was sent flying out of the sky, hurdling towards a crowd of trainers cowering back near the forest where the being had come from.
"Oh, Lantern, give me strength for my half minded attacks" Ashen growled, standing and envisioning the black spirit horse who wore a pumpkin atop their mighty head. She pawed the ground, getting ready to charge the pokemon who just hurt her friend.
She ran as fast as she could, leaping into the air just after the pokemon sent off a shockwave, avoiding the strength of the waves by sure luck and coincidence.
Ashen bit the fierce pokemon, it let out a cry but quickly shook Ashen off where she fell to the ground. Leaving no mark on the creature but cuts and scrapes all over Ashen.
Ashen groaned as she barely registered Soot grabbed her and pulling her out of the front lines.
Dust accumulated in her nostrils as Soot begged her to get up and to just say anything. Ashen could barely groan at this point, but she forced herself to chuckle and bark
"I'm okay...- Soot"
She passed out.
-
Soot tried his best to wake up Ashen, but he figured it was for the best and pondered where would be the best place for her to rest.
A dark bush caught his eyes in the chaos, one covered in thorns and other not so welcoming appendages.
He figured it would be the best spot to hide her, it was secluded, dark, hidden, and unwelcoming. Nobody would want to be caught in that bush, not unless they didn't want to be found.
Soot hauled Ashen over to the bush, cramming her underneath the branches while trying not to injure her.
Soot turned around to see to his horror, Rylee opening his jaw and it was flaming, trying to attack the creature that stood above them all.
Soot cried out as Rylee was knocked to the dirt and dust by the creature's wings without a bat of an eye, all the pokemon were trying their hardest but couldn't defeat it. The trainers were yelling at their pokemon, soem even stepping in with bows and other gear but it was all in vain.
Soot began to drag every pokemon who had fallen unconscious on the dirty and dusty feild.
By now Soot could barely see a thing, dust and dirt clotting hsi eyes and making him cry. He could hear the cries of the beast and the cries of the pokemon fighting it, but never could he hear his own cries.
Fire, Poison, Grass, Wind, every type of pokemon fought was slowly being defeated by the pokemon that flew like a dragonair and fought like a legendary.
"Perhaps it is a legendary" Soot pondered as he treated a pokemon that was thrown from the sky.
He heard the bush he shoved Ashen in shake, when he arrived there Ashen was gone and he saw fire through the smog.
He ran through the smog and spotted Ashen on the floor, a larger Incineroar had scared off the creature back into the forest.
Bright lights flashed through the sky as Soot ran up to Ashen, who just seemed tired from the long battle.
Soot was thankful, he sat down with Ashen and looked at the beautiful lights as the pokemon flew back into the forest, the Incineroar was crowded by trainers who thanked him.
Rylee sat down next to Soot and Ashen, curling them in his fluffy tail. Senior Blizzard (Who'd gone missing in the middle of the battle) reappeared and curled up with them. Admiring the lights.
They stayed there until the lights dissipated the next day. They never really knew why the lights were there but they adored them.
