Why did it have to be swimming.
Any other sport, Heartpurr is sure she could master, but swimming? She has only just begun to learn, doing one full lap of dog paddle after months of her mothers' support. She isn't sure if she can ever get over the fear of drowning though. The water had almost claimed her once, dragging her away from her birth group and luckily spitting her out on Scorchclan territory. Heartpurr's chest rumbles with a nervous purr, a quirk of hers that she focuses on instead of the storm brewing in her mind. Her purr is steady and soothing, and she remembers the gentle encouraging words of her mothers as she enters the water. Paws ankle deep, she wants to turn back. At the same time though, she wants to help Cliff feel braver too.
The cool water gently laps her legs, and as she heads deeper into the water to reach the race's starting line, she feels her heartrate pounding quickly. Fear is melting into something else though it seems. Without the tug of rushing water, Heartpurr finds that she actually feels quite comfortable in the water. Her fur is weightless and she exchanges glances of playful challenge with the other campers. A purr rumbling louder in her chest, making her sound like one of those boats the two-legs use, Heartpurr swishes her tail back and forth behind her. Let the race begin!
