Blurb: Fishing, round 3. Hal wondered if he should try being one with the water. He slid quietly into the water, and all the fish scattered. But patience was a virtue, so he soaked in the water for a while. The temperature wasn't nearly as cold as that of the frozen tundra in Lissidom, so he was alright. Indeed, after the fish got used to his presence in the water, they came swimming back along his legs, cheerfully flashing to and fro. They were so close, he could feel them barely an inch away... any moment now.

cassia grunted as she plunged her make-shift skewer into the water, narrowly missing the flashing scales of a fish. “ancestors,” she cursed. “when did this get so hard?” malthor made a mocking noise from the bank, curled over her discarded belongings protectively. occasionally hissing in the direction of the other campers if they wandered too close to cassia’s stuff. after a particularly drawn out growl, cassia turned on her companion. “we’ll never make any friends if you keep scaring them away, ya overgrown lizard.” he snuffled and fell silent, golden eyes fixed on cassia’s task of fishing. when she missed again, he let out a laugh (or, as much of a laugh as a little gremlin dragon could) which earned him a slight soaking as cassia shot water at him while he was distracted. “come in and do it yourself if you think you could do better. this is harder than it looks!” she protested with a sigh. “okay, let’s try this again…”

But he was proud of his team - they had caught up to one of the other teams in points! He just wished that he had been able to contribute. He had earned a point for his s’more creation, but that wasn’t really what he came here for, it wouldn’t help him back at home. He sniffed, looking at the calm blue waters of the lake. Now, he thought, if he could only earn a point in a skill that actually mattered…

Blurb: Despair was etched across Gremlin's face as she stared once again at the lake, its shore lapping up the ground hungrily. Why do I even come back... she asked herself internally, thinking back to the previous days of miserably wet fur and shivering cold. However, the thoughts of the fish that she had caught in the previous trips into the depths of the lake was enough to coax her back towards the water.
Making a face, she retreated back up the shore, as had become ritual in the past few days. A deep breath. Bracing herself, she began to run towards the water's edge once again, scrabbling in terror as she neared the lake. I miscalculateeeed! she screeched aloud as her paws slid across the mud, her claws uselessly scratching through the wet dirt.
