You still hate it, but... You got used to it.

The heavy weight of the sea, the churning of the waves that are inquiet as your heart. You don't get to rest and if you could you're not sure you could get up back again.

The sunlight cuts across the waves to hit your eyes and you're blinded for a moment, you wiggle your ears in discomfort.

You sigh and decide to go to the surface, as the first breath of air fills your lungs you can already feel the depths calling for you again. That insidious whisper, honeyed and sweet.

So deceiving. But this is what you paid for.

The shore is on sight, you didn't realize you were so close to it. Tentatively and cautiously, you swim closer and you finally start to feel the pull. That tug on your gut, like a fish hook.

return to me the sea calls you back. You ignore it, your paws touch the sand, you feel it between your toes and as you take a deep breath, that tug becomes like a ripping sensation. Stubbornly you clench your teeth and grip the sand harder, you're just... so close.

Amira used to live in a wonderful underwater palace. She had all she could ever dream of, until The Incident. Amira had returned from visiting her girlfriend in secret, as her parents didn't approve of her dating despite her being around 16 in human years. Apparently, her parents had an inkling that she had been going off to see her girlfriend, and when she returned, they caught her. Her parents kicked her out of the palace, and now her and her girlfriend live on land together in a small cave system!

Areia used to live in the deep sea, lurking and preying upon the various feats of the ocean. They live close with anglerfish and blobfish, who they thought were a beautiful gift from nature. Especially as food. One day, in a hot summer, they decided the wanted to check out the surface. Many new creatures did they see that day, but the most magical thing was the sun. Or maybe that loud, metallic thing? It was scary. The metallic thing was a boat with poachers on it, who saw the bright red of their fins and decided it would be worth a lot of money. So, they pulled out their harpoons and got ready.

Areia suffered many hits to the head and their precious fins and had to swim away. Although, without the fins they could not return to the deep sea, so they crawled ashore to live in a nearby forest, illuminated by the shallow light seeping through the thick bush. This would come to be where they hide away from any humans wandering nearby, who they fear until this day. Though, the forest is inviting and the creatures in it are easily mesmerized by the beauty of their fins, so they don't mind all that much.
