ham and beep weaved through the ruins of the old observatory. moonhigh revealed that the result ham had so desperately desired was never coming. he sighed sadly, sitting and hunching his shoulders. a cloud of dust moved in his wake, beep watched him silently, but it observed ham's sorrowful expression.

"they just won't talk to me beep. I don't get it. one minute I'm communicating with life outside this world, and the next? they never talk to me again. how am I supposed to be the extraterrestrial expert if there are no extraterrestrials to be the expert on?" ham whimpered but quickly shook his head, blinking his good eye slowly. beep said nothing, as was their habit. they were selectively mute, but it shuffled over to ham, pressing it's red nose into ham's fur in comfort.

the pair left the observatory, and beep slowly came to the realization that ham was not going to get happier until his aliens came back. so.. beep pondered this for a moment. before an idea slowly came to it. beep sprang up from it's sitting position and grinned wildly, it had a plan, and now it had to get to work before the next moonhigh!

the next moonhigh, ham entered the observatory alone. a sad expression adorned his face as he weaved through the ruins. he sat before the moon and murmured his prayers, bowing his head in reverence. slowly, the blue light from the moon turned... green? ham blinked, staring at his shadow, revealed in green light. he looked wildly about him to find cutouts of alien ships, hastily painted. he smiled, laughing. he looked up to reveal beep, precariously holding a piece of green stained glass to alter the color of the light.

ham laughed and then beckoned beep down, admiring beep's handiwork in making the aliens from his alien book come to life through cardboard cutouts. "thank you beep, this is really kind of you." beep dipped their head bashfully, headbutting ham. the pair entwined tails and then left the observatory, one cat noticeably happier.

Prompt: Bouncing Jellybeans bounded into the Principality's campsite and found a saddened Oncoming Storm by the Tyro's tent.

"What's wrong, oh mighty Knight-in-training?" The silly cat bowed dramatically, as they usually did with any higher ranked bandit. Their tail swished this way and that, quite elegantly.

"Jelly, I've just gone and done something terrible! I had my big assessment today with the monarch themself and I completely messed it up! I fell on my face at least three times and forgot everything! I know I've disappointed every cat in the group. I'm supposed to be the wonder-kitten, the blessing for them all...but I just don't think I can..." Oncoming Storm huffed and sagged with every word. Jellybeans straightened themself up, realizing what must be done.

Bouncing Jellybeans tapped out a beat with a clutched pebble in their paw. Their colorful head started to bop, and their vocal cords lit up in a happy tune!

"You are my sunshine...!" Their voice flowed like honey, as smooth as a calm running stream, as they began the song that always cheered up the Principality bandits. "My only sunshine! You make me hap-py when skies are greeeyyy!"

Oncoming Storm's short ears perked up as he recognized the song. His big orange eyes soon followed, with a slight smirk on his lips. Jellybeans continued, and could practically see the glowing warmth blossom from within the Tyro's chest.

"You'll never know dear, how much I love you...Please, don't take my sunshine awaaaayy." They had both joined in for that last line, smiling and rubbing heads together in companionship.

"How about we sit here, while I go get some nice warm honey tea, and just talk, hm?" Bouncing Jellybeans, despite their jaunty appearance, really truly cared for each and every brave soul in the Principality. Oncoming Storm nodded and curled up on the ground as Jelly padded off.

Prompt: Grimwhiskers paused, seeing the normally loud apprentice Crowcall grumping in a corner. "What's wrong Crowley?" they asked, head tilted a slight. Crowcall groaned loudly, ears back.

"Emberstar is being such a... such a PAIN! I make one joke and I get sent to bed without supper. One! Can't a guy have a sense of humor?" Grim snorted, amused.

"Oh not that one, they never did when I was a kit either. Always like, 'Work first, play never," she added, in her best deep tom voice. Crowcall peered up, seeing Grim put on a super serious face just like their leader and laughed.

"Do it again!" Grim was all too happy to oblige with a bow, before taking a step back and putting their whole body in a stance that Emberstar would take: one full of leadership but grumpy.

"My name is Emberstar and I am super duper serious and believe nobody should have fun and play. It is all about survival and-" Grim did not notice the flailing of Crowcall... at least until another voice joined the mayhem.

"AHEM." Turning around, she saw Emberstar in the flesh and gave a sheepish grin. "Oh... hiyas! I was just..."

And that was how neither of them got supper that night. But Crowcall was cheered up, laughing off their lamentable fate with a companion. Those two together meant nothing would ever be dull in this clan.

"What's wrong, buddy?" Nightlight tilted his head at the younger cat, an expression of concern flitting across his face.

"Nothing!" Cloverpaw insisted, hurriedly wiping at his face with a paw, trying to hide his stricken expression. He met Nightlight's gaze, somewhat defiantly, as though daring him to say otherwise.

"If you don't want to tell me, you don't have to," the warrior conceded. "But it would probably be better for you to get whatever it is off your chest, yeah? Better than carrying the hurt feelings around inside, in my experience."

Cloverpaw sniffled once more, ears flattening with embarrassment.

"Duckpaw and Cinnamonpaw went hunting without me," he muttered. "That's a stupid thing to be mad about, isn't it? I shouldn't be crying like a kitten over this- but I just hate feeling left out, and I'd thought we were all going to go together, and-" angry tears sparkle in the young tomcat's eyes as he recounts the events, spilling over despite his best efforts.

"It's okay to feel hurt," Nightlight murmured, nudging the younger cat's shoulder gently. "Everyone has moments like that. It doesn't mean that you're stupid for feeling this way, or that your sister and friend don't care about you."

He allowed for a brief, somber silence before speaking up again, in a lighter tone.

"Now," Nightlight said, his signature smile starting to stretch across his muzzle. "What do you say we go hunting? I'll take you out, see what we can catch- get out of the camp for awhile, and have some fun. Does that sound nice?"

A faint smile appeared on Cloverpaw's face, and he sniffled again, wiping stray tears away.

"That- that does sound good. Thank you, Nightlight," he said softly.
