kalon name. annushka
prompt. [ 500 / 500 ]
it was opening night.
she remembers how her paws shook, whether it was from nerves or excitement she couldn't tell. she had been working endlessly, tirelessly, to make her first big performance perfect. it had not been her first time dancing in swan lake, but it was her first time playing the leading role. in all her years doing ballet up to that point she had never danced as odette, or any lead for that matter - it had been her dream for ages and it was finally coming true.
soon enough she would take the stage and her performance would begin. it would be nearly two hours until it was done, until she would take her final bow. she still had the entire ballet memorized, despite how many years it had been since. she remembers how accomplished she felt when she walked off stage, how ecstatic she was with how perfectly it had gone. but more than that, she remembers the tiniest twinge of emptiness in her heart.
eros had found her almost immediately after it was done, embraced her with tears in her eyes as she showered her in praise. she recalls the exact way eros looked at her, with all the pride and love her heart could hold. and she recalled what she said as well. "anya," she had said, as softly and sweetly as one ever could. "you were amazing."
anya had known how much she meant it, but there was something about hearing it from her that made her unsure. it was a feeling she had felt before many times after her performances, but never so strong as she had then. her newfound insecurity must have shown in her face as well, because she could clearly recall how eros looked at her then. with confusion, concern.
"annushka, is everything alright?" she had grasped her hands in her own, stared at her with her shining eyes with so much sincerity it almost hurt to look back. eros had not called her by her full name in years. that was the moment she realized something she had already known.
"eros, tonight was the most amazing performance of my life. it was my dream," she had paused for a moment, trying to find the right words. "but I do not think this is right for me anymore."
"anya, мой дорогой.. you can't be serious, can you?" eros' eyes betrayed how hurt she felt. it had been her who convinced anya to come to america to train together, who had encouraged her a hundred times to keep going..
there was a long pause in their conversation then. she wasn't quite sure what to say next, or if there was anything she even could say - but as she had been struggling to find her words, eros ran to embrace her again. they stood there for a long while, just holding onto one another, before eros finally broke the silence.
"anya, мой дорогой, I will support you no matter what."

soviet 739226 🌧 jack 🗲 500 words 🌧 he/they 🗲 intern meteorologist
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
🌧“Thank you for donating blood today!”
🌧Donating blood every other month had become tradition. He picked up the habit after his high school hosted a blood drive, and for years into adulthood he continued to drive to a health center for his blood to be drawn, packaged, and shipped away. Even if the donated blood never saw the fluorescent lights of an emergency room, driving into town along scenic country roads on a slow-moving day was enough for Jack.
🌧After leaving the clinic, the sky had turned a disgusting, green-blue color with speckles of clouds. Jack didn’t think much of it, considering weather of the midwest can be rather untame. A fast, warm breeze blew through his bangs as he stepped up onto the muddy side bars of his truck before hopping in and departing from the clinic parking lot.
🌧As he approached the winding roads headed back to his desolate work office, Jack rolled down the windows of his truck. It was a nice April day to be riding with her - the smell of rain in the air, the warm winds blowing his fur, the rumble of tires pushing against horribly paved city limit roads. Jack’s truck - “Dorothy”, as he called her - was more like a tank in appearance. Riding on the roads where the forests and plains meet with his beloved Dorothy is better than sitting idle in the weather service office where he worked. Nothing’s worse than a slow day at work, and he had just spent his lunch break at the health clinic. Jack longed for the grind of a busy city, but he could never convince himself to leave his hometown.
🌧A drop of rain dripped on his arm as it hung out of the window. As he reeled his arm back in and the window drew up, another raindrop dribbled onto the glass. Another, this time harder… The sea-green sky was feathered with dark gray clouds resting at various depths in the atmosphere, and the wind picked up.
🌧In a matter of seconds, the world darkened. Something in Jack stirred, his paws gripping tighter around the steering wheel, switching his gaze from the road to the sky.
🌧“Aw, hell no. We’re not doing this again.”
🌧With the press of a button on the center console, a siren sound emanated from the roof of the truck. Dorothy’s tires may growl like hell, but her roar is a hell of a lot worse.
Jack sank his claws into the steering wheel and jerked to the left, swinging the massive truck along the slick road. Jack turned onto a dirt road which lead to a little village in the sticks. Siren blaring, he approached a small conglomerate of low-income houses as he leaned out the window and shouted.
🌧“Take shelter! Tornado!”
🌧As residents scattered, Jack peeled out and headed to the next country commune, yelling the whole way. He’d seen his little town destroyed once before when he was young, and he vowed to protect it since.

literal dreamy kolya omg!! whatever you did different with this guy, it turned out fantastic ^_^ good luck to everyone entering!!
