Halsey met him on a cold winter morning while out on a walk through the steppe. They stopped only a few feet apart, staring at each other while their freezing breaths formed white clouds, dancing between them. After the initial surprise about their weirdly perfect matching coats they started chatting, and since he turned out to be a pretty decent and very funny guy, they could be seen walking the steppe together a lot in the months that followed. They grew closer and closer, and Halsey thought she might even be able to fall in love with him even though that has never felt like something for her before.
But the constant chatter of the other zebras was taking a toll on her more and more. There were those that said they have to be together forever because they complement each other visually. As if their coat pattern and color, something they had not chosen for themselves, would be more important for the choice of partner than their characters, she thought, but it still incited some kind of rebellious spark in her, to dump him just to proove them wrong. Others were telling her she was only giving him a chance because of their looks in the first place, since she never really connected deeply to someone before, and that bugged her even more. Could it be that she was really that superficial? Or was it a pure, if somewhat bordering on the absurd, coincidence that her perfect match in minds was also her perfect match in appearance? In all the endless prattle, she found it quite difficult to figure out how she herself really felt about him and what was the influnece of those around her. In the end, she really doesn't want to throw away a good thing, when the only thing that really mattered is what works for her and him...

Apologies for the delay in judging! Congrats and enjoy Halsey- I really love this idea, that she likes him, but feels pressured at the same time! It's a neat twist and I like the conflict it gives her ^^
