"listen to me!" the emperor spouted, but the noise was half squeak like and made the crowd of cats snicker. "I'm you king and I demand that you take me seriously." It wasn't working. Usahgi's legs were short, her body stouted, and her face couldn't quite reach above the bar where she looked over her people. Even her wife was small now, so no one would listen to her either. It was a predicament.

"Your not Emporer Usahgi!" A voice shouted from the crowd of cats. "She isn't a child." this only made matters worse, as the croud rioted for the chance to view her majesty.

The two now teenage cats bolted into there abode of safety sighing as they went. "I believe you your majesty." It was a familiar voice coming from Usahgi's personal servant Kiri. He was still tall, and fluffy. Mature green eyes looked down to his master, but only due to height. "I saw you change in the middle of the night."

"How!" Usahgi shouted, not out of anger, but surprise. She contained herself, coughed in her throat, and repeated herself calmly. "how?"

"I... do not know. It just happened."

early mornings were always peaceful and quiet in the groves, many expected to wake up the same to the soft glow of morning and the sounds of their tribe mates moving about mother tree. though the tribe was awoken by one loud rather high pitch scream, cats scrambled out of the dens fur fluffed up in defense. the matriarch scrambled from her den being the one closest to the source of the scream.

echo scrambled down the trunk of mother tree her claws seeming a little clumsy and miss placed as she tried to gain her footing. she was met with the bewildered and clearly shaken sapling though this sapling looked exactly like snow one of the tribes guardians. the sapling squeaked out, "w-what's going on??" echo tensed as she leaned in to sniff the sapling, it was in fact the guardian snow. she looked about her members and her heart sank, she looked at her own paws seeing they had shrunk overnight. the rest of the tribe began to realize they had all reverted back to saplings. cats began to panic though echo stood firm, "everyone listen!" she leapt to a higher point on mother tree in order to gather everyone's attention, "we will figure this out a tribe, perhaps this is the ancestors way of testing us." she meowed trying her best to give a reasonable explanation in order to calm their nerves. "has anyone seen the shaman?!" as soon as these words left her maw a tall white figure appeared, the shaman. a mischievous smile coming across his maw as he looked about the saplings surrounding him, "what has happened here?"

echo bounded up to him, finding it slightly annoying that she had to look up at him, his pure amusement shining in his eyes though as usual they seemed to look right through her. "i was hoping you would be able to help find out though i thought you would be changed as well.." she mewed suspiciously. he crouched to get to her eye level, "those old ghosts wouldn't dare test me.." he then stood up and turned on a dime, his tail swishing about barely brushing against echo's muzzle. "but for my tribe i will do anything, dear matriarch follow me. the rest of you stay out of trouble." he meowed looking over the disheveled tribe. the white figure then disappeared with echo following beside him. hopefully the two can overcome this trail.

Moosestar froze as they woke up, staring at Kestrelcall next to him before laughing, gently nudging his mate to wake up.

"... What? It's early, I shouldn't be awake yet." Kestrelcall grumbled, covering his face with his paws. Moosestar snorted, looking at what seemed to be the younger version of his mate, not so fluffy and a whole lot less scarred. And his bandana was way too big for him.

"I think you'll want to see this." Moosestar meowed, prodding Kestrelcall once more. The tom opened an eye to glare at Moose before freezing and opening both eyes to stare at them.

"You're- you're lighter? And where did your scar go?!" Kestrelcall meowed, gently batting at Moosestar's nose. As the tom did so he saw how small his own paws were and helped, looking over his shoulder at himself. "I'm an apprentice again! We're both apprentices again! This is horrible, I hated being an apprentice."

"Oh, it's alright. We're still us, just smaller." Moosestar laughed softly, bumping their noses together. "Let's go see if it's just us or if the rest of the clan is struggling too."

The two cats padded out of their den and into the clearing, both startling as Braveflight (who was supposed to be on dawn patrol) went wailing past- yelling something about his mane and how it was gone. Soon after that other cats came streaming out of their dens, shouting and looking at themselves and their clan mates with confusion. Except for Mushroompaw, they mostly just seemed amused.

Kestrelcall and Moosestar shared a look before weaving in and out of the crowd to try and get everybody to settle down. Today was going to be a long day.

Mousepaw giggled as she looked at all the cats the same rank as her. She did not know why this happened but she found it funny. Luckily because none of the cats younger than the warriors and queens and elders and deputy and leader did not get transformed. Mousepaw smiled looking at the leader who was now the size of her. The whole clan was confused and loud with anger and confusion. The normal apprentice was finally able to quiet the clan so they could find a solution.

oynxstar was the only known case of full grown cats being turned back into their apprentice self. most tried to stay away from him due to fear it could spread and the medics tried to get him to notice. but, he never did bat an eye at it nor really notice it too much. due to his role, he is only focused on the spiritual side of the clan and seeking out prophecies and omens, so one could say that his head was in the clouds too much. so, he never truly noticed much outside of his voice which wasn’t deep as usual and happened to just shrug it off as a cold. it was uneventful outside of cats being unwilling to come towards him, so he didn’t care at all.
