In a surprise twist of events, Cherrypaw was absolutely delighted to hear the news!

After coming down with a cold, some kind two-legs in town worked to get her treated with some yucky medicine. At first, they offered it to her wrapped in a slice of cheese. The only problem? It was the most disgusting cheese she'd ever tasted. Understanding that they meant well, Cherrypaw forced herself to stomach not only the medicine but also the cheese. Thankfully, the two-legs soon realized she was lactose intolerant and began to offer her some yummy canned food instead. It was the best news she'd heard in a long time, and she started to feel better in no time!

"Whhhhy? Why meeeee?" Came the wail from the dens. A sizable audience was forming now, as the yowling continued. "This cannot be happening to me! It's a lie! A liiiiiie!" One of the older cats blinked, staring.

"What on..."

"Just wait," another cat said with a wink. "We're just getting started...."

"It can't be true! I won't let it be true! You cannot take away what I love most in this world! I will not allow it! Give it back!" The clan leader by now was just staring as well, unsure what to make of this spectacle.

"I'll give you my favorite toy to change your mind! You can... you can have my next supper! Just please, please let me have this! Pleeeeease!" Peering into the medicine cat's lair, Emberstar discovered a young kitten yowling on the ground as if in pain. But there were no injuries. What could be so important as to cause all of this fuss?

"My life is oooooover! Waaaaah, how shall I ever feel complete again? Whatever will I... alas! How will I ever go on?" Emberstar watched in disbelief as the kitten, in an over-dramatic fashion, rolled over with a paw over their eyes as if playing dead. And yet, their medicine cat did not budge one inch. Did not even say a word as they batted a piece of cheese around in their paws. Wait, surely this was not over...

"I guess that is it then. I can never have cheese again. I will never be the same cat, please, remember me as I was..." Emberstar sighed.

"You realize ALL cats are at least a bit lactose intolerant yes?" He asked the kitten, who owlishly blinked and then looked to the medicine cat for confirmation. The Medicine Cat merely grinned, amused. The kitten meanwhile just flopped over, groaning. She hated the adults sometimes.
