the moon gazed down across the forest as a petite she-cat paced gingerly along the icy riverbank. they had been hit with a rather devastating snowstorm a couple days prior, completely freezing the river over. however, news that it had slowly began to thaw had spread through the clan, resulting in moth sending out cats daily to investigate. that's what beetle was doing at that moment; carefully pacing around the edges of the icy abyss, looking out for any sign of running water. she almost blended in with her surroundings - speckles of freshly fallen snow had scattered along her back, refusing to budge no matter how much she shook her pelt out. she'd have to deal with it later, the river was more important at this point in time.

whilst walking beetle would occasionally place a paw on the ice, testing the strength of it. each time her warm paws would suddenly withdraw once the icy water touched them. cats on an earlier patrol had reported similar findings, that traces of water had began to form around the edges of the river, undoubtedly due to the other wildlife scurrying across the edges. beetle had been too preoccupied with her findings that she had failed to hear the rustling of the foliage behind her.

as expected, beetle became painfully aware of her sudden company as a looming shadow was suddenly cast of her. glancing up in curiosity, beetle froze, stumbling forward onto the ice and bristling her fur up. this only gained the attention of her new found companion, who raised his head, his eyes glowing under the rays of the moonlight, illuminating the antlers that stood raised above his head. beetle locked eyes with the stag, digging her claws into the sheet of ice below her and yowling in an attempt to look intimidating. her weight was uneventfully distributed throughout the ice sheet, resulting in small cracks forming below her.

the stag broke it's gaze as the wind rustled the branches behind it, startling it slightly and resulting in it retreating away from the water's edge, leaving beetle in her position. the cat remained there, stunned at the experience. she had only ever heard stories of the beasts that lurked in the woods, yet had never come face to face with one. legs trembling, beetle slowly made her way back to camp. the river could wait.

her friend's death will never be forgotten...

it start in a sunny day, they were playing together... then they forgot, they passed the clan border... then out of nowhere 2 cats rushes towards them, willowshine and her friend fight the 2 cats un till... they ran away, willowshine sighted with grief but then, untill she saw her friend were badly injured, willowshine panicked cuz she dont know what to do, she see medicine cats use cobwebs to heal injuries and one other herb that she couldn't remember.

after willowshine puts cobwebs on her friends injuries she said "hope this will do... for a while" then she carries her friend back to the camp, the med cat immediately on it, after a while waiting... the med cat tells willowshine... that her friend cannot be saved, willowshine's eye have broken to tears hearing that her best friend... is gone.

the med cat told her the cause of her death, then suddenly willowshine said "can i please be your Apprentice? its not to late right!? i dont this to happened again!". the medicine cat smiled " its not to late dear, but are u sure u want to be a med cat? " she purred "Im sure! No mater how boring it might be... i wont let u down" she meowed confidently.

It had all happened so fast.

Her clan had been on a hunt, same as any other day. They had not meant to find what they had, to stir up the trouble they did. The local canine pack had widened their territory, and the clan had failed to notice until the lines were already crossed. Blossomcrown was resting beside the medicine cat when the hunting party came back... with every single member in critical condition.

They had to act fast, but they were only two cats! Blossomkit, a new apprentice, quickly found herself overwhelmed. What should she do? What could she do? Her mentor assigned her to a younger warrior, newly pledged but two moons ago. The tabby cat was breathing hard, crimson matting their fur in all of the wrong places. "What... what can I do for you? How can I help?" The young one asked, her voice in a panic. The warrior placed a shaking paw on hers, a toothy smile forming.

"You're doin' it now, keeping me company. I ain't gonna die alone. Is it okay if I tell ya a few stories, to pass the time?"

"Yeah... yeah sure. I'm here just... take it easy. What stories would you like to tell?" She listened with every fiber in her being... until the warrior simply smiled and fell asleep forever against her side. Tears started to sting at her eyes, tears that did not stop until the next moon, and even then would come back for every life lost. She pledged to listen to all of their stories, but the life and death of that warrior she would never forget.

She tries to sleep but the memory engulfs her again, like it always has.
She can hear the fevered whispers around her as her uncle drags her out t the center of the small camp. The cats of the alley are raising their voices more and more and her senses are over whelmed. She is forced to stand between her two cousins, who cast her a look of contempt.

"Lark of Singing Bird, do you still plead your innocence?"
"What good will it do me to repeat myself?" She hardly recognizes her own voice as it comes out. Her uncle sits before her and scoffs.
"None; mere formality to ask. And you will answer."
"Yes. I did not hurt that family."
"But can you explain where you were when the deed was done?"
"No."
"And why you were injured?"
"No. But it has nothing to do with them. I would never-"

The crowd shouts. Her uncle makes a motion with his paw - silencing them and her.
"Well- you know what comes next. We'll send you over and you can't return. A shame you wouldn't at least be honest before this."

She flinches away as he places a pay over her head and says. "I strip you of your name and heritage with us. You are cat and kin no longer, if we see you we will have no recognition of your rights."
"You mean I am to be killed? Uncle, speak clearly for once in your li-"
Her uncle snarls and draws his paw away. He looked like he wanted to smack her across the face with his claws, but that wasn't part of tradition.

She gets taken away. It's like it's happening all over again as she tries to sleep. They take her to the wall , they climb the steps up, up to the top, and then she is rudely shoved off, just barely managing to land on her feet. Her cousins, her escorts and former friends, jeer and spit after her as she turns and stalks into the unknown.

She'd been in training for maybe a moon already, and things weren't looking too great. The full Doctors and Nurses were frustrated with her constantly, and she was always clashing with Ciderpaw, who seemed to be a natural with remedies and poultices. She could never remember the ins and outs of the city, never able to find her way back home.

In pure frusteration, one day she set out on her own to go to a spot she'd been shown the prior day, where catmint grew on a twoleg's balcony. Her mentors were talking about how they would need to go gather more soon, and by Starclan she would use it to prove it to them that she wasn't just some mouse-brain with no sense of direction!

After an hour of travelling, she'd made it. Proudly, she plucked some of the leaves, going over in her mind the method to do so.

'Now they'll know to stop treating me like a kit,' she thought proudly, tail held high and face beaming.

But it was getting dark, and she needed to head back to the store.

Which way was it? She hesitated. Maybe she should go straight?

She was standing on the balcony for maybe thirty minutes before suddenly she felt a rush of air come from her side, and a Twoleg was at the window shooing her angrily. Without thinking, she yelped, the herbs tumbling out of her mouth as she leapt off the balcony down to the street below, praying to Starclan she would land on her feet- and not on a twoleg or a car.

Starclan seemed angry at her, and she found herself on top of a car in motion, the startled twoleg at the wheel pushing the breaks and honking the horn as she thudded onto the window, scrambling against the cold glass, barely jumping off in time before a different car collided with the one she'd landed on, running on adrenline as she escaped the scene, not wanting to deal with the wrath of the twolegs as the sounds of more wheels scraping and metal colliding faded into the background the farther she ran.

Shaking like a leaf, she took shelter in an alleyway, praying no one would hurt her, and curled up to sleep. Even if she could find her way back home, she was too scared and ashamed to leave.
