the little voices in my head, voices that never seemed to leave me. and maybe, they are right. maybe i am taking
everything too seriously.
maybe i’m not.
because she’s so.. real. she’s a queen. she’s an angel. she’s everything i could ever want.

but she isn’t mine, and maybe she will never be. not now. not ever.
not while another’s kisses are braided along her invisible crown. not while she was close enough to hear another’s heartbeat.

"I think I found the culprit." Came the sudden words from around the corner, causing the tabby to pause. Something about this didn't seem particularly right. Talonface arose, an eager look in his eyes. "Do tell, I cannot waste more time with failed missions! Menes will be highly displeased if yet another plan has f-"
XXXX"It's Briarpath." The reply made the tom in question's heart leap. Talonface stared at him blankly. "Don't joke with me. This is serious, Rattooth! Hah! Briarpath would never-" Once more, the tom was cut off by Rattooth. "I heard him. He mentioned us, vaguely, but still. Now, the soldiers are onto us, thus keeping us from completing our missions. Such is why they're always one step ahead. It's hard to believe I know, but..."
XXXX Silence. Deadly silence. Anger clearly began to grow upon the tom's face, tail lashing angrily as heated words fell from his mouth. "Impossible! If that were true- was true- then, that means-" A nod. "He's a traitor, Talonface. And we have no room for such things. Those of Menes would be highly displeased if we failed our task over old feelings..."

Briarpath hid. He's been watching me. They know. But he hadn't betrayed them! Right...? "Enough. Enough." Talonface cried. "If he wants to play dirty, then I'll do the same. I have no qualms against destroying another cat's life...even his." A long pause. "Find him for me, Rattooth. I must speak to him personally."
XXXXUh oh. There was no time to waste. He had to get out of here. And quickly. But before he could even begin to move, dreaded words met his ears. "Oh, but Talonface...I believe he's fairly close. Fairly close, indeed."

An audible gulp. I'm dead.
