Stars and their prophecies… are all ancient and cryptic sounding.

I wonder if the Stars even exist… or if they just like to look down on us with frowns, waving their starry paws in disdain at our folly. And maybe if they feel like lifting their bottoms from their starry throne, they’ll dole out a prophecy and watch chaos ensue. I mean if I were them, even I would find it interesting.

I have one… a prophecy.

The youngest daughter from the Roséanné bloodline will fall to the eldest of the carvers.

My future dictates that I’ll one day die to some… tom.

Wow.

I think it’s a huge joke.

His name is Erias. He’s literally the sweetest soul with permanently flushed cheeks and sky blue eyes. An angel who loves making tiny wooden carvings. I have a whole collection from him… a phoenix, a pegasus and he says he’ll make a dove for me, too!

And apparently, I’ll ‘fall’ to him… and die.

Dad is convinced this will happen. He bars me from even seeing him. I don’t know, maybe I’ll die from mere eye contact.

Sure, the prophecies are usually true. The last tailor did drown. The last princess was never found. And the healer did end up accidentally poisoning herself. But still!

As for me… cats are always asking about my future. My ‘prophesied’ death. I can never say anything, before they start offering me their pity. Ridiculous.

So for the record, I denounce my future. The prophecy. I will not die to Erias and this will not stop me from spending time with him. I will romp around, explore the world, and he’ll teach me how to carve. We’ll be friends.

I will choose my own path, one the stars have not decreed. That’s it.
