Zebra Name: Lieutenant
Prompt: Lieutenant first learned to deal with his blindness from his mother, who helped him to walk and learn his surroundings when he was just a foal. Once captured (at a very young age) by humans, he was at first extremely resentful and fearful of humans and refused any help offered to him, learning his surroundings and how things worked by his own grit and determination. Eventually with time, he calmed down and allowed his human caretakers to help him. All his fences have a thin line around them with bells attached, so he knows where the edge of his paddock is whenever he brushes the line, and a small chirping call set on a recorder stands by his water trough so he can always locate it. He knows where his hay and feed is by a similar chirper, set to a different tone. Through time, he has come to learn ways to put his head in buckets and hay feeders without hitting his face, using his whiskers to help him. He remains extremely head-shy and sensitive, and is spooked by being touched without his handlers letting him know beforehand. He has never known a life with sight, and so he does not resent his condition, but rather simply accepts it as part of life; he doesn't even realize he is different from any other zebra, and he's happy that way.
