Lykaio's name: Osh
Gender: male
Do they like/dislike their glowyness? Why?:
The sleek-furred creature swims through murky darkness. For all his 'glowy bits' (as he likes to call them), he still can't see well.
(For all the humans out there, it's like a flashlight in the fog—all the light just bounces back, and now it's brighter, but just as blurry.)
Sometimes, Osh wishes that his glowy bits shined brighter, like when he loses his favorite shell while hunting in the dark, deep sea. At best, they present just enough light to make things visible, and while that is pretty bright, they could be way brighter—bright as the sun, that golden, eye-searing orb in the sky.
Other times, Osh wishes his glowy bits could change color. Depending on the night, the moon shines white or grey or blue... occasionally, even red! Osh's glow is light grey, and it's always light grey. Even the fish he eats emit more color.
Right now, Osh wishes his glowy bits would just turn off. It's impossible to play hide-and-seek when you perpetually glow. He's hiding in the murk, tangled in seaweed. Osh can barely see, can barely move, but his friends... well, they don't need good eyesight to find him.
(Though that doesn't matter anyway... he's bright purple! He's lucky his favorite choices of prey don't rely on vision... he'd never catch any!)
There are times Osh wishes that his glowy bits were different or more controllable, but those times are outnumbered by the times he's grateful. When he stays deep down too late and it's already night when he resurfaces... without the glow, Osh would never be able to navigate! Or when other creatures compliment his bioluminescence—that makes him really happy.
It's more complicated than like or dislike, but in the end, Osh doesn't actually want to change. He's satisfied with his glowy bits just the way they are.
