Prompt:Houndtooth never thought that they would end up where they were, but here he was and apparently, here he would stay for a while. Being the second in command to a supernatural cult was certainly... Something. He wouldn't change it for anything though, the park and the cruel magic that ran through it was home now.
The tom was pulled out of his thoughts by the low buzz of electrical equipment, a familiar sound at this point- that meant it was time to get going. He had been with The Unknown for over a year now, and the sound of the park starting up every night was honestly a welcome sound.
Houndtooth pulled himself out of his nest and onto his paws, ducking out from underneath the fallen sign that he slept under. He glanced over his shoulder at the sign as he left, tail flicking as he read the words still readable- "un ouse". Houndtooth smiled as the words flickered to life, turning a bright neon red and yellow. The night had begun, and so did his work.
Houndtooth made his way over to the broken ferris wheel, somehow the colossal ride still stood, but the control booth was missing entirely, and the ride stood completely still. He leaped into the first swinging booth, letting it settle with a loud creak as his weight made it rock back and forth for a few seconds. Only then did he lunge for the support beams, digging his claws into the plants that had begun to grow on the metal. The park had been abandoned long enough ago for nature to start taking over once more. The way to the top of the carousel was a slow one, he had to make sure he put his paws in the right spots so there wasn't a chance for him to slip. Not that he'd die either way. Their gods made sure that didn't happen.
Eventually Houndtooth reached the top, leaping into the seat that had been stopped almost right at the top when the ride shut down for the last time. He looked out over the land outside of the park in all directions, surveying, planning where to send patrols. It was a new place, one they hadn't appeared in yet. That meant no suspicion from the humans and cats alike in the area, they could pick their prey as they pleased.
Houndtooth was startled as there was a huge creak from the ride he was standing on- suddenly the lights along it's beams flared to life, and so did the tinny music that played from every ride here. The night had officially started, and he was due to send out their collectors. Houndtooth yowled as loud as he could, the harsh noise echoing through rusted metal and broken plastic. There- that would bring his clan to him for their assignments.
The ferris wheel started to move, bringing the seat he was in back towards the ground, and Houndtooth happily waited until he could jump off and be back on solid ground. There was already a group of cats assembling at the base of the steps that led up to the ride as he hopped off.
"Welcome one and all to The Unknown! Now, are we ready to bring in some lovely new lives to our great and glorious cause?" The question was met with yowls and cheers, and Houndtooth gave a sharp grin. This would be a good night for hunting.
