``And that's why I can't have you running your mouth around Twistedstar, it's very important you don't tell them``, the old she-cat rasped out. She gave a sniff to the paw and gave Echostep a nod, ``Watch where you're walking around the city, twolegs leave junk everywhere. Come back if there's any swelling.`` Echostep nodded and walked out of the Star Reader's den, making sure not to put too much pressure on their paw. They had gotten something stuck in it, but with the help of Cloudedmoon their paw should heal up in no time. That wasn't what was worrying Echostep though, they were worried about the secret that Cloudedmoon told them.

``I was exiled from my previous clan, that's why I'm here. However, no one knows just why I was exiled. I trust you though, and I'll let you know. I have kits, and I'm still looking for them. My old clan took away my kits and my pride.``

Echostep was shocked when they first heard the words, wincing as Cloudedmoon licked the twoleg junk from their paw and began rubbing a stinging poultice into the wound. ``It's not that im ashamed that I have kits, it's just that i'm not willing to be exiled from another clan. Ever since my exile it's been hard to face Starclan or my new leader. That's another thing you can't go telling Twistedstar, either``, she mumbled. Echostep was surprised that clan cats had so many secrets!

Every cat knows what happened on that day. They all woke up to find their humans missing. Not dead, not "got up in the middle of the night and left" - simply vanished into thin air. No one knew quite what had happened to them - only that they were gone.

Naturally, a panic broke out. House cats trapped in their homes had to be rescued by local ferals, and house cats fortunate enough to have a way in and out of their house without their humans. Cats who had previously been loners banded together for better chances at food, as even feral cats had sometimes depended on humans for extra food. The gathering cats made their way to the Factory, quite ruining things for poor Charlie, who, as this had long been his territory, was chosen as leader.

There, the cats would stay, working together in the hopes that they'd be able to solve this great mystery, and bring their humans back.

"...Then, in the sight of StarClan, I give you your true name as a Medicine Cat." Sandwillow's words ring out softly around the Moonglass's hollow, the light of the half-moon reflecting against his fur and almost blinding Coalpaw with its dazzling appearance.

Coalpaw couldn't think with their blood roaring in their ears, Slyspots' quiet confession a whisper in their ears even in the waking world. "Luckysong... is my descendant, kid. The luck he's got ain't no coincidence, 'n it's the only proof he's got of our times. We were swingin' with the wrong cats, but nobody listened to the deputy. Now I guess I have to live with the fact not even Deadstar knows one'a my kits kept it cool in East Twolegplace, 'cause if he knew... dang. He'd see it as such a high betrayal, that I didn't do anythin' to fix up the clan earlier." How could they be trusted to keep something like that a secret from the rest of StarClan? Let alone their clanmates?

This was wrong. They shouldn't be receiving their full medcat name; they should be exiled, no better than the betrayers of the past express.

"From this day onward, you will be known as Coalwhisper," 'Stop!' they wailed mentally, flexing their claws into the dirt in guilt. 'I don't deserve this!'

"please, dusk. you have to promise you won't tell," sage begged, her face wet with tears. dusk felt the need to comfort her. but they held back, taking a few steps away from the crouched molly.

"these belong to another cat," dusk mewed. they glanced down at the bundles of fur clamped to her side and felt irritation rise in their throat. "how could you do this?" they growled after a moment.

sage brought her kits closer. "i-i..." she began, but trailed off as one let out a squeak. she bent down to lick its head. dusk began to turn away.

"wait!" sage cried. "please, if he finds out, he'll surely kill them." dusk knew she was right. their brother was merciless, and wouldn't hesitate to harm either one of them. dusk was trapped between the truth and a monstrous lie. what were they to do?

after a long moment, they let out a sigh. "your secret is safe." were they making a mistake? "just keep those kits close to you. and hope he doesn't notice the fur color." were they sending these kits to their death?

dusk didn't hear sage's reply. they were thinking about their brother's reaction to seeing the kits. would he be suspicious, or would he greet them with open arms? it was hard to know. dusk would have to put all their trust in sage. if dusk held onto this secret, surely she would hold her end up. right?

She’d found Nightshade sneaking back into camp one night, the black & white cat seeming a little off. She knew better than to just sit and wonder, so the next time she spoke with him she asked him what he was doing.
He admitted, offhandedly, that he had been spending time with a rogue outside of the territory, and to not tell Triptych. She agreed. As long as he was doing what he needed to help the clan, she would keep her mouth shut.
Then Triptych & Starlight had a litter.
And then one of their children was stolen.
Proxy saw Nightshade slip off more frequently, and this time, this one time, he came back.
And he had a kitten with him.

“She’s mine.” Nightshade said, under a hushed tone. “But you can’t tell them.”
“Why?” Her eyes narrowed to fix on the other cat.
“I’m going to say I found her off in the forest and that I couldn’t find her parents.” He replied. “My brother would kill me if he found out she was mine.”
She saw his tail twitch momentarily. “And I’m going to give her to Starlight & Triptych to raise.”
She looked a little surprised. “You know that won’t replace their kid who got stolen, right?”
“Of course, I’m not stupid.” He snapped back. “But they seem like a good fit. You can’t tell them she’s my daughter. Understood?”
She paused. Would it be worth lying to her leader about?
“Understood. My lips are sealed.”

Crow stood before a forest he hadnt explored before. It looked promising, so he took a step forward into the canopy. Almost immediately, he was knocked back by a shadow.

When he righted himself he saw a marbled tabby. Thinking this was going to be a fight, he haunched down, but the cat only stared at him motionlessly.

"I see the crow has finally come to the valley," they mewed calmly, and the mention of his name stopped Crow in his tracks.
"H-how do you know who I am?" he hissed, still haunched defensively in case the tabby got any ideas.

"Starclan showed that me you would be here, to help bring life back to this place," the strange cat explained, "but they also showed me that I must keep this forest sacred, and protect it to those who cannot see Starclan's gifts."

Crow contemplated this for a moment. He'd met a few cats in his life that recieved messages from Starclan; they had a certain wisdom about them that this cat also seemed to carry.

"Whats so important about this forest that you need to protect?" Crow asked, finally lowering his defensive stance to one more conversational.

"My friend, this forest contains the heart of this valley. A lake that is touched by the paws of Starclan themselves."
The marbled tabby continued, "return to your clan, and tell them that only those with the eyes to see Starclan's gifts may enter my forest."

Azure trekked through the forest determined. Azure grumbled, still burning with anger from the fact he had just missed his catch thanks to the little charm jingling on his collar. Azure sighed heavily, realizing some tension in his upset expression, and sat down for a moment to figuratively cool off. Azure has a sudden flashback of earlier. Tansypetal approached him with a nervous expression, shifting her paws in an awkward, scared sort of way. Azure remembered his curiosity was quite peaked when she asked him to keep a secret from Thrushslip and the rest of the clan.

Azure recalled feeling left a little disappointed but determined to keep her secret. Back to him sitting and cooling off, he still didn't understand why she was so eager to keep this secret from her excited mate and the rest of her loyal clan. Maybe it'd be something against the warrior code he'd just learned about only several days ago when he joined Ocean Clan. Azure sighed in slight frustration, Some many questions yet so little answers.. He thought on edge. Maybe he shouldn't keep this secret, what was so bad about it? He shook his head and concluded, Clan cats are odd.. Azure nodded to himself and stood, dashing off back home to Ocean Clan. Ah well, maybe it was best just to keep the secret even if he never understood it.
