"C'mon! It's gonna dry out before you get your lazy tail up and going!" Ottersqueak shoved her shoulder under the form of the much bigger cat, pushing with all of her might until the other cat was on their paws and following. "You're gonna love this one." There were rolled eyes, but still both cats made their way out of the camp tunnels towards the shallow pool under the nearby waterfall.

"Over here, look!" The small fisher cat bounded across stepping stones, completely comfortable with the water, and waited next to her masterpiece for her friend to join her. Once together again, Ottersqueak stepped aside to reveal her work, showing off a dirt bank with mud of different colors smeared over it in a crude rendition of a field of flowers. Fish scales and colorful, flat river stones accented with pops of color, but the textured raises and shapes of the mud itself were the real works of art.

The cat she'd dragged out to see this, to cheer up, blinked and then sighed out and pressed against Ottersqueak gratefully with a murmured thanks. "You're welcome! Being sad is part of life but that doesn't mean I can't try to help."

Because many of his clanmates have times when they feel sad or are bummed out, Reedwhisker likes to find ways to cheer them up through little tasks. Many love the jokes he makes or just thoughtful things he does, like hunting or patrolling for them for the day or for the mothers of the clan, entertaining the kits with tales of adventure and gentle roughhousing that usually ends up with him on his back covered in them. Because of his cheerful and friendly demeanor, he is often the teacher and mentor of upcoming kits, able to be strict when he needs to but often the fun friend that can teach you neat tricks, sometimes things that can be mischievous too. His favorite way to cheer up some of the gentler adults is to bring them the rarer berries and talk of what they have been doing today while sunbathing, a subtle way to comfort.

Black Raspberries are the choice of berry to bring to other cats that Reedwhisker wants to comfort. While much sweeter than their red cousin, they are harder to find, and many cats are grateful for such a hard-aquired gift. Reedwhisker always thinks the effort is worth the happiness on their faces and joy when they eat it.
