Prompt:
Dawncry was, like, really cute. It wasn't his fault he thought that, she just was. It wasn't Ashfall's fault that she dragged him out on a hunting patrol with her and Silverpool, her brother, either.
Just like it wasn't his fault that she decided to forgo hunting through the thick underbrush, and instead leaping from tree to tree, chasing birds and squirrels. He joined her, of course- it was his favorite way to hunt, regardless of whether or not it might impress her- while Silverpool stayed on the ground below them, ignoring their antics for the most part.
And, it wasn't Ashfall's fault that he stepped on the wrong branch, the crack sounding like thunder in his ears, competing with his already rabbit-fast heart, his stomach flipping as he began to fall (and the distance to the ground seemed so far, too far to be safe, he was going to break something he was sure of it-)
It definitely wasn't his fault when he yowled out in fear, making a pathetic little surprised sound when his momentum stopped abruptly, a pair of teeth clamped tightly but not hurtfully around the scruff of his neck. He looked up at his savior, and it wasn't his fault when his cheeks flushed, the rush in his ears drowning out the fear.
Dawncry helped him up back onto another, sturdier branch and he spent a moment huddled close to the wood, panting. She moved around him worriedly, asking question after question- was he hurt, was he okay, did he miss that branch, how far did he think it was to the ground, wasn't it funny Ashfall was the one falling, did he think he have been killed if he fell all the way?
It wasn't Ashfall's fault when he started laughing, leaning into Dawncry's side for balance, blushing harder than before. He hiccuped out a thank you, and Dawncry started laughing too, the pair huddled up in a tall pine, scaring off all the prey together.
Below them, Silverpool added another mouse to his pile and gave them a wry glance, shaking his head.
