If Rookthorn had to be honest, he'd probably say his favorite color is orange. He enjoys the way the trees turn all sorts of shades of it during leaf-fall; red, orange, yellow.. In his eyes, it's far better than during new-leaf. Oh, the sunrise too! A start of a new day, new duties.. The warmth of the rising sun beating down on the camp with a faint breeze is a feeling unrivaled.. aaaand it's perfect for laying out to bask in it.

If he wasn't being honest, well. It'd still be orange. The reasoning would just be far less.. sweet, idly commenting that it reminds him of his favorite prey and nothing more.

ferngully's favorite color is the bright orange that sparks when she lights a patch of dried thickets ablaze. she is one of the clan's three shamans, personally appointed by the trinity of the world - it is her duty to speak with the gods, and to keep their good favor in mind in order to ensure the clan's safety. she loves her job; loves the warmth and glow of the fire as she communes with the gods. but lately, the gods have not been speaking with her - ferngully's flames die out shortly after being lit. she fears she has displeased them somehow. yet still, she strikes the thickets with the familiar orange hue she's come to love so much. she can't afford to lose what she's worked for so many moons to gain.

"Oh... they are green. Like new-leaf. How pretty." Lizardscale nosed the shaggy fur of his elderly mother and purred, the sound rough with emotion. "So are yours." He mewed back, shifting to draw his tongue over the space between her foggy, deep green eyes as she closed them and leaned into his touch. He'd heard that same phrase nearly every day, his mother in a perpetual cycle of forgetting what he looked like, age addling her mind. He knew she'd always liked the color green, though, and the joy she'd had when his eyes faded from kit blue to the bright green he proudly bore now. The color had quickly become his favorite as well, and he often brought her scraps of it whenever he visited her home with her twolegs; a feather, fading green to teal and back, or a green bead he'd found in the dirt outside, even green ferns and leaves to tuck in around her bedding and replace the ones from days prior that had turned brown.
