Prompt: "...forgive me, hazeleaf," the tom spoke with such a cool tone that for a split second, she'd almost forgotten how furious she'd been with him. "i just don't think you're cut out for this job. leave it to-"
"i'll leave it to no one but myself!" she spat harshly, ignoring the concerned stares thrown her way. nobody had ever raised their voice at a member of the trinity like that, but you know hazeleaf - always one for firsts.

the tom exhaled deeply, trying to steady his voice. she could tell she was grating on his nerves, but the stubborn little she-cat could care less. "why don't you trust me to do this, turtlestar?"
"it's not that i don't trust you, hazeleaf, it's that you're too hotheaded for this!" he sighed, narrowing his eyes at the young warrior. "to face off against one of the night terrors with neither hide nor hair of a plan is preposterous! you just want to march in there and take down a nest of them, like it's that easy? i'd beg you to try, but i won't - why? because you'll die, hazeleaf! you don't want that, now do you?"

hazeleaf turned away with a scoff. "i don't see why you're always trying to deter me from my goals, turtlestar," she grumbled bitterly. "i'm not a kit anymore - i'm a warrior! if you'd just give me a patrol-"
"no!"
"please, turtlestar! i'm-"
"NO, and that's final," the voice of the sky rumbled, turning his back to his sister. "you're too brash for this, hazeleaf. i order you to stay in camp. do NOT go to the night terror nest."
hazeleaf stood, mouth agape and eyes stinging with tears. "i'm... i'm not a kit, you mousebrain!" she shouted, turning swiftly and storming off to her den. "i don't need your protection! i'm a fully realized warrior, and... and..." her voice softened to a whisper as she collapsed in her bed, eyes hardening to a glare. "...and i can leave if i want to."

turtlestar sighed as the moon rose, glancing over in the direction of his sister's den every now and then. the voice of the sky had been a little harsh with her, admittedly, but hey - she was way too irrational to be making silly decisions like that! she could get hurt, or seriously endanger the patrol she'd requested. as one part of the trinity of the world, it'd be reckless if turtlestar had agreed to this. he was doing the right thing, whether she realized it or not.

when hazeleaf didn't come out for dinner, though, he knew something was wrong.
he rapped his knuckles on the entrance to her den. "hazeleaf?"
no response. he knocked again, this time sighing. the poor thing was probably mad at him still. "hazeleaf, i know you're still probably mad at me... i'm sorry, i just-"

as he entered her den, his eyes widened and turtlestar went speechless. the young she-cat was nowhere to be found - her bed was neatly made, and there was a note on her bedside table.

"don't wait up - hazeleaf"
