SunStar had no idea what herbs even looked like. Not that it mattered to much to him. His focus was food, and that was what he was going to take care of. With a proud stance he hauled the mouse to a secure location and berried it beneath the soft dirt. His face distorted in an unpleased manner. The weather was making it difficult. The slight breeze was going in the wrong direction for hunting, and the lighting gave the prey an advantage over him. He would continue on however. Keeping low and quiet as he prowled a crossed the landscape.

Something caught his attention. A figure on the hill above him. He sprung to an alert position, prepared to fight if it was an enemy cat. Most of the neighboring territories were far enough away that he didn't believe he could run into one of their warriors, but it didn't mean it was impossible. The shadowy cat came closer in a pacifistic motion. They were being submissive to SunStar, and once they were in view it was obvious why.

The cat was a black cat, heavily striped, and beautiful to SunStar's eyes. It was his deputy CrowMask. SunStar Proceeded to drop his guard for his comrade, and friend. His tail rising upwards to show his pride and content with seeing Crow. Crow did the same up to the point where they were next to each other. They touched noses.

Sun spoke up, concern in his voice. "Shouldn't you be watching the clan?" He asked his comrade.

Crow's face went sour. It was clear that something was wrong. "Food is short, I came to help." So the two of them proceeded to hunt together. Splitting up to cover more ground.

They came upon the Sun Rocks shortly, moonlight lighting up the large flat tops of the dark stones. Minnowstrike paused to scent the air, Cinnamonstick following in her lead, but the rocks seemed relatively empty tonight. The only scents they found were stale, probably at least half a day old.

Cinnamonstick leapt up onto one of the large stones, the rock cold beneath her feet, and Minnowstrike followed behind. "Woah... you can see so much of the sky from here!" Cinnamonstick murmured, and Minnowstrike nodded. It was a clear night, and the stars shone bright and twinkling- the halfmoon hanging just between two peaks of the mountains around them. Cinnamonstick grinned in awe as she took in the view- this was all still so new to her, and she couldn't get enough of it. Minnowstrike sat a little behind her, watched Cinnamon instead of the sky.

After a few minutes, Minnowstrike stood up. "Alright, come on, Cinn- these rocks seem to be deserted for now. We should head back to camp, see if we can't catch anything on our way back."

Cinnamon turned to look at Minnowstrike as the silvery tabby leapt easily down the rock onto the soft grassy ground below, and gave a big nod as she stood up. "Ah, that sounds good to me! I'll follow your lead!" She jumped down after Minnowstrike, and the two began the trek back to camp.

The two were relatively quiet as as they padded up through the forest, and the mouse Cinnamonstick caught earlier still seemed to be the only prey out tonight. A willow tree grew next to a small stream they waded through, and Minnowstrike paused to tear some of the loosely clinging bark from its trunk. She knew Salem could make good use of that, and told Cinnamonstick such: "This tree, a willow, can be used by our healer. I believe its bark helps to lessen pain, and the leaves might be useful too. We'll take this back to Salem, see what they can make of it."

As they were nearing where they had buried the mouse, the wind picked up, whistling through the trees. Cinnamonstick went to dig up her prey, but Minnowstrike stopped still, fur bristling, tail twitching anxiously. The cinnamon warrior paused for a moment, asking softly, "Minnow? What's wrong?"

Minnowstrike looked at Cinnamonstick, eyes wide. "I smell badgers, coming from the direction of the camp. Cinn, grab that mouse, we need to go." She meowed hurriedly, already shaking out of her shocked stupor and beginning to race back toward the camp.

Cinnamonstick uncovered and grabbed the mouse between her teeth, taking off after the blue golden tabby. She had never seen a badger before, only heard of them vaguely, but if Minnowstrike was this worried then they must be just as bad as she'd heard. She could smell them now, too, and the scent made her want to curl her nose.

The two ran as fast as they could back to camp, not wanting to leave the other cats alone there. The clan was still small, and a badger or two would be quite the problem.

A falcon attacks emberglow +5XP. As the attacking falcon was low to the ground, badgernose and seawhisper jump onto the back of the bird and together kill it. Emberglow escapes with no injuries and the clan has good prey! +1falcon, +4FP, +4XP
After the frightening encounter they had just had with the hawk none of the cats were able to remember to look for herbs!

Shadestar padded through the moist earth, mud sticking to his paws each step he made. Currently, he was patrolling just to make sure Marshclan's territory wouldn't get another badger visit. Though last time that badger he encountered didn't do much to him, just a minor leg wound which had since healed. Maybe Shadestar would hunt after this?

MIlo let out a sigh. It was nice to get a break from Hakan and Minda; those two seriously never stopped fighting. It made him realize that he was lucky to have such a great relationship with Dipper. Purring at the thought, he looked up at the seal point tom affectionately.

Dipper turned to gaze back at him. "What?" He laughed. whiskers twitching.

"Oh, it's nothing." Milo mewed, brushing against Dipper's flank.

And anyways, they were here to show Mansi the ropes. The area, where prey like to live, what herbs can be used. It would've been best to have Skye explain all the herb stuff; she was good at that stuff. But her energy could be, well, a little much at times.

The golden she-cat had been trailing behind Milo and Dipper, watching them. "You share a great love." She finally said.

"Oh, uh, thank you." Dipper blinked. "That's sweet." Milo added.

"I used to have this once, too." She mumbled, looking at her paws.

The rest of the patrol was fairly quiet after that. Maybe they should've brought Skye after all. (183 words)

Ivystar wandered her territory, even though she had her own clan, she was the only one in it so far. That didn't mean she didn't need to stock up on prey. She'd need it to survive, after all. Even though she had no other cat's in her clan, it was still a good idea to explore to see what was out there, and maybe hunt if given the chance.
