Welcome to the Ferox Spring Event! It's Spring here, and there's been an unexpected baby boom this year - we're absolutely overrun with foals! All these babies are in need of new homes... maybe you could take a couple home with you?

Walking about the property, intent on checking out all the newly arrived foals, you spy a wide brimmed sunhat peeking out from a fenced-in garden. The woman beneath is sees you approach, and gives you one dazzling smile as she rises from where she had been kneeling to lean against the fence near you.

Welcome to the garden of prompts, it's so good to have you with us.
Not only are there a bunch of babies running about, but the garden is being a bit stubborn this year!
We have to get all these carrots somehow, and I know just the thing!

This garden is a lover of the arts, you see!
Yes, yes, odd for a garden but its the truth nonetheless.
So, to get it to give up those carrots, why don't you tell or show the garden some of your work?
As a matter of fact, I've even got a handy list I was going to give to my kids for some practice work.
They had other chores, though, with all these new foals.
Let me go over some guidelines to keep the garden happy first, though, okay?



Rules;;
• There will be no toleration of mocking, teasing, taunting or otherwise to any participants whatsoever.
• Prompts will be released every second or third day. An update post will be made at these times.
• You may enter any released prompt at any time. Take your time if you'd like, there's no big rush!
• You may enter with both art and writing, but you cannot enter the same type for one prompt.
xxex. You can have one writing piece and one art piece, but not two art pieces.
• All work must be your own! Don't be discouraged by others, though, just try your hardest. ♥
• Various tiers will be able to be met per entry type; the minimum must be reached to award carrots.
• There are predetermined carrots assigned to different types of work per achieved requirements.
• Bonus carrots may or may not be rewarded for your work.

Bonuses!
Answering 5 prompts from alternating days (Day 1, Day 2, etc) will reward you a special event item, the Serum Type E!
Answering 10 prompts from alternating days (Day 1, Day 2, etc) will reward you a special event item, Custom Foal Ticket!
Posting 20 completed prompts overall (mix of both) will reward you with both a Custom Foal Ticket and Serum Type E!*

*To achieve this, you must post a total of twenty complete entries made throughout the entire booth.
These entries will be made using the same prompt, but must be one of each type. (Art and writing.)
Entering with both types will award this prize,
as there may not be twenty prompts released throughout the entirety of the event.
You are not required to enter with both types every day, but it will be needed to get this bonus!

This will be done for all writing entries that are not the prompted poetry types.

There will be two prompts that are only open for poetry submissions!
One will be a haiku, the other a freely written poem of your type choice.
Art will not be accepted for these two prompts, nor will any other type of writing.
These prompts can be entered for twice, to make up for the loss of an art entry on these prompts.

These poetry prompts will not be assigned a grade level bonus, but instead each entry will be sent
through the RNG to award a range of carrots from 0-5 per entry.

The soft, springtime grass danced gently in the breeze, sending a chorus of soft swishes into the air. Mason took in a deep breath, remarking in the quiet of his home. Oaie and his father stood not too far off, separated from him by their fences, but all stallions grazed in animosity.
Oaie was too patient to allow Mason to rile him up the way that the overo stallion would like to, and so he grew bored of trying to play long ago. And his father, while he would normally indulge him, was too focused on the sweet grasses beneath their hooves.
And, worse again, his best friend Zirael and his mother were away, training with her humans.

Speaking of.

Mason raised his head, looking in the direction of the stables. Sure, he had been lead out to the pasture this morning, but where was his human - the young girl who always appeared with a grin on her face and a treat in her palm. She hadn’t come to greet him this morning, and, an even worse sin, she hadn’t given him his daily treat!

Stomping a hoof, suddenly annoyed at his lack of attention, Mason lashed his pale tail against his sides. Well, one thing was for certain - once the human girl arrived, she’d be getting a generous helping of cold shoulder.

But then he wouldn’t get his treat...
He turned his head, opening his mouth to call out to Oaie, to ask him if he knew the fate of the humans, but as he did so, a commotion rose from within the stable area. Mason trotted to the nearest fence post, poking his nose over to see what on earth the whole fuss was about.
And to find out why on earth it wasn’t about him.

A number of the humans - mostly female - were crooning, oohing and aahing with their phones in front of their faces, taking pictures of whatever it was that held their attention so deeply.

Huffing impatiently, Mason stomped a hoof, blue eyes searching desperately for the reason that he was not the current centre of attention - and landing firmly on his human girl, who was gleefully offering attention to someone who wasn’t him.
Calling out to her, a high, pitchy whinny that would irritate anyone nearby split the air, but to his dismay, he was ignored.
Pinning his ears, he tried again, but this time there was a non-human answer.

A shrill, high whinny - higher even than his own! - echoed through the air, and the humans all melted into a mess of coos and baby talk.

A foal.

Mason was shocked.

He was the only foal allowed in the stables. He was the first foal - and only one since, mind you! - born to the GnL Ferox herd, and now they had brought in some... some stranger to take that title away from him?!

The human crowd dissipated slightly, and the long-legged colt that had gathered such an audience suddenly became visible to him.
The colt was unlike he had ever seen - not that he had seen many - with black, almost tar-like patterns dancing across his coat. Mason pulled his head back, unnerved by the strangeness of the colt’s appearance, but the colt still acted like a foal, raising his head with another shrill whinny.

Mason snorted, turning his shoulder to the commotion and lowering his muzzle to graze half-heartedly, but soon enough, approaching footsteps caught his attention.
“Hey buddy!” His human, her voice so familiar, had approached the fence, and, even more familiar, the smell of cookies reached his nostrils. Mason cast her a glance, as thought contemplating not approaching, but the sweet scent of the treat was too enticing.
Standing properly, he turned back to his human, scooping the treat with utmost precision with his rubbery lips. He half-closed his eyes, enjoying the taste and the scratches, but soon, his blue eyes shot right open again, ears pinning back to his mane.

That foal.

The colt had been brought over by his human.

Mason snorted disapprovingly, moving to walk away from the fence, but the colt, gazing up at him with large, wide eyes, uttered a soft, sad whicker, causing the older male to pause.
The colt immediately brightened, bouncing his nose up and down, causing Mason to tilt his head, puzzled. The colt, beginning to chomp silently, showing Mason that he was not a threat, raised his nose, and Mason lowered his. The sudden movement of the stallion’s nose caused the pair to bump muzzles, and both froze, regarding each other with wide eyes, both startled by the sudden physical contact.

There was a heartbeat, a second’s pause while they watched each other, and then, both almost in perfect synch, both stallion and colt began to frolic, playing with each other on opposite sides of their fences. The girl laughed, and the crowd appeared to snap photos and ooh and aah again.
But, all-too-soon, a leadrope was snapped onto the colt’s collar, and he was led off again, trailered beside a mare who Mason could only assume was his mother.
The stallion called out for his new best friend, but the colt could do nothing.

His human reached up, scratching at his favourite spot. She explained that he had only been visiting the stables for some photographs, that he had to be brought home.
But maybe, just maybe, he’d see his new best friend again soon.
