Prompt:///"There's nothing coming, just cross!"
///Adair hissed. He hated this with a passion that burned nearly as hot as the pavement in the summer sun which burned his paws as he sprinted across. Snarling at a car that passed nearby, honking at the two of them, he slunk over to the calico's side.
///Sophie rolled her eyes. "It's really not
that bad," she nagged.
///Adair hissed at her too, now. "I never agreed to this," he snapped. "I agreed to hunting alongside you lot and your fox. I never agreed to being
run over."///"Well, good news! You weren't." She turned and flicked her tail; whether she was intentionally aiming to hit him square in the nose, Adair didn't know, but she succeeded with flying colors regardless. "Now, come on. If you're good, I'll even show you how to beg for food from humans."
///"If I have to interact with them at all, I think I'd rather steal."
///He knew from the start that the group was out in search of the little cream girl's...
owner. What he hadn't known was that, in this group, hunting duty meant he would be going into the cities just like she did, albeit in search of food rather than folks.
///Hate may be a strong word, but it was one that suited his feelings. Truly, he loathed the cities and towns. The adults so preoccupied with their business that they nearly trampled him, the children so happy to either pelt him with pebbles or chase him down to give him "pets", yanking his tail in the process... and good lord, don't get him started on the cars that could easily outrun and crush him! Not to mention the hot, hardened tar, and the brashness of the gulls and rats and other not-so-wild wildlife, and the horrible, loud noise...
///He had no idea why Beatrix wanted to go back. One couldn't pay him enough to live in this horrible urban world.
///To be frank, he hoped he could convince her to stay in the safety of the woods as well.
