The storm is so bad the ever-burning torches and lamps had gone out, too soaked to continue providing light in this horrid downpour. Occasionally, thunder and lightning split open the heavens.

"He should be here! What happened to him?!"

This type of rain is strong enough to create flash floods. Concerned for the soldier on watch, the pair of lions keep pushing out into the darkness, eyes narrowed against the pelting raindrops.

"Merle--?" They bump into Merle a half-second before the sopping wet guard shouts at them over the rain.
