The summer heat is a real bummer, when it’s too hot all you wanna do it melt. Popsicles and ice cream understand, they melt any chance they get. And cold drinks like slushies? Well they condensate and sweat all over you, like c’mon really? But just because they melt doesn’t mean you have to! Bà really enjoys all these cold treats. Sitting in her room in front of the fan trying not to roast you’ll often see her with a popsicle or ice cream cone. Sometimes she doesn’t eat them fast enough and they drip everywhere, it’s a mess. She loves going on road trips and stopping at the gas station to get a slushie, slurping them down so fast she gets a brain freeze. She even has a mini money stockpile to buy the yummy treats with, saving her money all year just for some frozen relief. So just because it’s hot enough to melt into a puddle, Bà stays cool in body and mind.

Lydia woke up with gentle sun rays warming her cheeks, the light filtering through her lace curtains, leaving small floral patterned shadows around the room. She rubbed her eyes and sat up, grabbing her phone to check the time and the weather per usual. It was strange that she had woken up before her plethora of alarms with different lengths, noises, and volumes, as she tended to be particularly lazy, especially in the mornings. However today was different and Lydia was rather excited to start her day! She was going to drive the couple of hours down to the beach with some of her friends and together they were going to spend a week away taking in the salty air.
She was the last of her friends to get picked up and while she only had a small suitcase and her beach bag, she felt like she was playing Tetris trying to squeeze her belongings into the already stuffed trunk of Howdy's jeep. Rhodos was in the passenger seat, long blond highlighted hair slightly hidden under a big sun hat. "Good morning Lyd, I'm surprised I didn't have to come use your spare key to wake you up...again..." Lydia blushed slightly as she pulled herself up into the jeep, smiling at Orbeez who was kicking her dangling feet against the bottom of her booster seat. The small child gleamed up at her and waved before going back to reading her book which from a glance looked like it was about different mythical creatures. Rhodos and Howdy sure did have a very unique parenting style, but honestly Orbeez was on of the most polite children she had ever met, and the kid kept mostly to herself.
Lydia squeezed herself over the girl to the middle seat open next to her, blushing even darker as she realizes Tempest sitting in the other window seat. "Hey Lydia! Rhodos invited me last minute and I wasn't too busy so I hope you don't mind sitting next to me?" Lydia froze for a second, begging herself not to stutter when she met the eyes of a snickering Rhodos and Howdy in the front. "O-Of course I don't mind!" She settled herself down and anxiously pressed her knees together. She could tell this was gonna be a long trip.
~~
The first day there, the group went down to the beach and sat on the sand for hours catching up and talking. Now that they were getting older and Rhodos and Howdy were parents, it was harder for them to get out of the house, but honestly having Orbeez there was some refreshing fun as well. While they were down at the beach, Tempest has taken her down to the ocean and was teaching her how to jump the waves. Today however, they were going to participate in Lydia's favorite summer activity. She got dressed up a bit (totally not because she wanted to impress Tempest) and packed her skates in her bag.
Once they all gathered together, Lydia walked them to her favorite spot, a park with smooth pavement that still had an incredible view of the ocean. She finished lacing up her pastel pink skates and looked over to see Rhodos struggling to get Orbeez to sit still to put sunscreen on her face. The sound of quiet giggling made her look to her side, seeing Tempest rolling to a stop beside her, lavender skates decked out in a bunch of cute stickers. It made Lydia's heart melt and she sighed contentedly as they laughed at the sight in front of them. "God remind me to never have kids. They're fun for a bit but I totally wouldn't have the energy for it long time." Lydia stood and skated closer to Tempest. "Only if you remind me too!" She nudged Tempest with her elbow as Rhodos walked over with Orbeez, dawned with a helmet and knee pads, barely able to keep upright.
"You look like a baby deer..." Tempest snorted at Lydia's comment as she skated over to help the girl stabilize. "Don't worry, we're not gonna let anything happen to you ok Orbz?" They all started really slow at first and though Lydia was itching to skate faster and take in the sights of the ocean, she was having a lot of fun teaching with Tempest. It took quite a while but eventually Orbeez was able to let go of them and skate a bit on her own. She had gone back to her parents, who were spending time together eating dinner in the jeep. They made sure she was safe before going off to skate on their own.
Lydia was ecstatic to finally be able to skate freely, spinning around and skating backwards, closing her eyes, content to feel the cool ocean breeze on her face. She glances over at Tempest who looked just as at peace as she felt and her heart swelled in her chest again. The skated alongside each other in comfortable silence only stopping to watch the sunset paint the sky in glorious pink and orange. They stayed close to each other, talking about anything and everything that came to mind. Eventually they skated back together as well, paying no mind to the soreness that would surely hit them tomorrow. Lydia was in her happiest head space and she wished that she could stay there forever.

name: Madara (speckles in Japanese)
gender: Female
collar: Blue, matching the color of her eyes, with white swirl patterns similar to those of her coat. The bell is a light yellow, lik the color of the sun.
prompt:
Madara loves to spend summers next to rivers and lakes. In order to keep the scorching heat at bay, she regularly goes for swims in them to help her cool down.
During the morning, she usually wakes up early to collect several types of summer flowers and herbs, trying to get as wide of a variety as possible. Later, in the afternoon, she lays down on the shade and makes necklaces, bracelets and accessories from them to gift to her friends. Finally, once the sun sets down, she likes to go for walks in the refreshing night air while making up names for the multiple fascinating constellations she finds in the sky.
In terms of food, she really enjoys all the fruits and vegetables summer has to offer: juicy watermelons, cooling cucumbers, tasty squash, sweet berries and, of course, the nourrishing greens that grow in the meadows!

On hot summer nights after spending long days in the summer heat, Fudge loves to go out for icecream. It's not the fact that she's getting a sweet treat that's her favorite, even though it is rather nice. But instead, it is the opportunity to sit around and chat with her friends that make this her favorite part about the summer. It has become a tradition for her and her friends to meet up at their favorite icecream shop to spend some time together. And that is her favorite part. Bonding as they all sit around eating a delicious treat. It's such a simple thing that makes her love summer. But Fudge finds that she doesn't need something big to happen to fall in love with the season.
