Blizzardsnow's family is the ice and snow, the cold wind, the icicles that hang from trees. No-leaf is her family, because there she can do anything she wants to, instead of following the rules of all the clans around her. She wanders in blossom-leaf, settles at a lake in dry-leaf, and goes out for the arctic in ground-leaf. Blizzardsnow attempts to commune with the snow hares and arctic foxes, but they don't understand her. She doesn't care, though; she still acts like they're family, and forever will.

Prompt: Desdemona has never really had much of a family. She's distantly related to the Queen, sure, but that family has never been much of a family to her. The cats within their house respected her, yes, but only because she was a Duchess. They respected her because of the power she held over them, and that barricade had stopped her from personally knowing any of the cats she lived with. From a young age, the others were taught to respect those above them, to speak only when spoken to, and to look them in the eyes for no longer than a glance. The only cat who had ever gotten to know Desdemona was -- god, even after all this time she still can't mention her name. ...Ella. It was Ella. Ella had been outgoing, and energetic, and adventurous -- everything Desdemona was not. Ella was the one to see more to Desdemona than a royal title, and she got killed for it. Not directly, but... Desdemona had always been suspicious about the circumstances of her death. Maybe it was grief, that part of her that was so reluctant to believe her death just happened. Maybe it was some twisted form of denial, the want to blame someone. Either way, Ella was gone, and she wasn't coming back. The only cat she had ever considered anything close to a family, and she was gone. It was alright, though. Desdemona had spent most of her life without a sense of family; she would get used to it again.

"A flower in the wind, caught by the flaming sun, is what she used to say." The curious kits turn to the she-cat speaking, a cat named Goldenflame.

She continues. "We were happy, my mother and I. We had dreams of someday living in a clan together, suronded by cats who appreciated us." She turns to the kits again. "My father was a clan cat. But he never loved us, and kept us secret from his clan." She bared her teeth. "He never once came to visit our family again. The moment I was born, he left us out in the wild, with my mother being unable to hunt to feed us."

"All I remember was his voice, the way he showed no emotion as he stalked away."

Again turning to the kits, who had now been joined by the apprentices and the queens, she explained how Roseclan had saved them. "They took us in, but my mother became ill. It was leaf-bare, afterall. We were weak, and she only became weaker. With every passing day she was losing touch with the world, with me."

"I grew up with a foster family, and they took great care of me! I only hope I can help kits like that when I'm older."

She looked at the cats, pride welling up inside her. "That is what family is, afterall, isn't it?"
