It is also for the rather large (like this puppo) Mars rover Curiosity, who also uses female pronouns and "sang" the birthday song on her birthday. I think this name is a cute tribute to the rover who has discovered so much about Mars. This girl's legs also reminded me of the red dust on that planet, like she has bounded through the Martian sand.
Call name is for the first woman of color in space, and the first real astronaut to appear on Star Trek, Mae C. Jemison. This pupper’s face reminds me of an astronaut’s helmet and so I decided to name her after one of my personal favorite astronauts.
