Blue, to say the least, was absoultely elated to find willow bark. It was the only herb she'd recognized in this godforsaken jungle, and she couldn't be prouder to take it home. And so, she'd collected the best strip of bark she could peel off and scanned the canopy for the biggest tree she could see in the vicinity. After picking a spot, Blue had smushed the bark into a ball and shoved it beneath one of the large roots. With a new skip in her step, the Starwalker set off once again into the undergrowth, determined to finally track down some prey. Blue's stomach was beginning to grumble; the lizard she'd caught last night hadn't filled her up quite completely. The she-cat was beginning to grow quite tired as well, and did her best not to dwell upon how long the walk home was. Instead, she focused her entire being on creeping silently through the greenery, her ears perked as she tasted the air in hopes of tracking something down.

Milo was quite satisfied with himself. He'd managed to place scent markers, catch a shrew, and even gather a leafy bundle of who-knows-what. He was so excited with his findings on just the first day, he'd decided he'd go back out again. "I'll never get used to the beauty of this new territory. I don't even know if I can cover it all!" He shook his head, sighing. "And I hope I find another cat soon." He bounded through the forest, sniffing eagerly at every new thing. So much to explore, so much to see. He stopped himself at a giant tree, staring up at it. "It must go to the sky." He breathed out in awe. He took a few moments, gazing at its' branches before continuing on his way. (131 words)

Roseclan

Snowbird looked around for junipercloud with a big smile. It didnt take long for her to locate the Smokey black tom by the nursery. She bounded over to him and playfully nudged his flank with her paw
"Hey what are you loafing about for? Mossberry asked me to bring along a warrior to search for mint leaves, we are running pretty low in storage right now and..."Snowbird frowned as she watched junipercloud. Had he been listening at all? Rolling her eyes the she-cat wisked her tail in front of his face. Junipercloud jumped with a start before realizing it was snowbird. "Oh hey, how long have you been standing there?" He asked. Snowbird decided to ignore the question and beckoned him to get up and leave with her which he did. Snowbird watched as her usually peppy friend seemed to have something on his mind. Once they got to the stream that surrounded roseclan she sat down and tucked her tail around her pale white paws. Junipercloud hardly noticed but unconciously sat beside her. The two cats had been friend since kit-hood and it was fairly easy to see when junipercloud was a big ball of mess. She tilted her head to look at him and he looked back blankly. Snowbird finally mustered up the gall to ask what was wrong. Junipercloud sighed loudly before he spoke
"It's just that...stonestare is having cinderfleck's kits." Junipercloud's voice was quivering now
"I thought she liked me the same way I liked her. Why cant she see he is using her?" Snowbird flinched. was junipercloud really that oblivious to not see snowbird loved him? Was cinderfleck really using stonestare, and for what? snowbird stared at her paws for several heartbeats before junipercloud said anything else.
"I know what you're thinking" he meowed as he turned to look at her with his sad amber eyes. Snowbird quickly looked up at him
"You do?" She asked, her heart fluttering.
"Yeah, you're thinking that stonestare is a cruel heartless cat who only cares about herself. And yes she is...but not with me. Not ever since that one leaf-bare when she got Stuck in a pumpkin." Junipercloud continued to ramble on about stonestare but snowbird wasnt listening anymore. It was like he was talking through water and she was drowning. Snowbird turned away from him to hide her sadness. The two young cats sat in silence for a long time. Junipercloud waiting for snowbird to say something and snowbird not realizing he had finished talking. Snowbird shook her head what was she thinking? Of course they could only ever be friends! She was the medicine cat apprentice after all. Mossberry would be so disapointed in her if he knew. she thought. Snowbird turned back to junipercloud and leaned into his black fur. It made her heart shatter knowing this was the closest she would ever get to him. Snowbird smiled
"The best thing you can do is tell her how happy you are for her having kits. Who knows maybe you'll be a mentor to one of them someday." Junipercloud sighed
"But im not happy for her." He meowed queitly and turned to snowbird. Snowbird felt her pelt growing hot from his look
"Even if you dont feel it, you say it." Junipercloud stared at her crystal blue eyes for a moment then licked her cheek
"Thanks snowbird, you're a great friend". Junipercloud stood and walked off into the forest. Snowbird looked into the water before following him after all they still needed to find some mint.

Milo once again entered the brush, but before he could venture further out, a small sound caught his attention. He immediately turned to look back the way he came, ears perked. As the tomcat realized the sound had actually come from a bird and not something that wanted to eat him, a wide grin spread across his face. A thrush hopped along the ground underneath the sky-reaching tree, the bird scouring around the forest floor for food.
Milo immediately dropped into a hunter's crouch, doing his absolute best to contain his excitement as he began to creep closer. And closer. And closer. With a joyful wiggle of his haunches, Milo leapt toward the unaware bird, pinning it quickly and delivering the killing bite before it could make a sound. +1 thrush, +2FP, +2xp
Reveling in his victory, Milo quickly buried the prey underneath the tree before setting out. Milo did his best to remain attentive, but the forest around him was so beautiful. As the tomcat's eyes scoured the vegetation in awe, a certain bush caught his eye. Raspberries! Their leaves had medicinal properties, right? Deciding to be safe rather than sorry, Milo quickly grabbed a bundle before heading on his way, his nostrils flaring as he scented for prey. +1 raspberry leaves, +1xp
However, it wasn't prey that he smelled. A fox. Will Milo ignore the creature, or will he chase the fox out of his forest?

Milo froze. Frozen like a deer in the headlights. "Fox." He whispered. "Fox, fox, fox, oh no. Ben would know what to do." Milo took a deep breath. It's okay. No, it wasn't okay. Milo was supposed to be the predator. He killed that thrush. He killed things. Not because he wanted to, but he need to. To survive. He was a carnivore. Now he was being hunted. Like a bird. Because the fox needed to kill him to survive. "Just pretend it's not there." Milo mewed, shaking, the fur rising up on his back. "You'll be okay. Pretend it's not there." (102 words)

Snowbird and Junipercloud padded together in companionable silence for a while, the she-cat glancing toward her friend frequently. Every single time she looked at him it was as if her heart broke more. She couldn't bear the melancholic sight of Junipercloud, with his slouched shoulders and limp tail dragging behind him. Snowbird was about to open her mouth to try and cheer him up with an inside joke, but a snapping twig to the left of them stopped her. She glanced at Junipercloud who was now on high alert, his ears perked as he scented the air. The both of them had been too busy with their thoughts to notice a loner in the vicinity. The cat soon emerged from the vegetation, it's head tilting as it stood before Snowbird and Junipercloud. "Who are you?" +1 common myo

The warriors had quickly gotten matters settled with the loner, who had heard rumors of a group of cats living in the forest and wanted to join. The three of them eventually ran into another clan member, who'd kindly offered to escort the new face back to camp so the two cats could properly focus on finding herbs. The loner would be one more mouth to feed, some would say, but that wasn't the way Junipercloud and Snowbird saw it. Every new face in camp called for celebration, and they were simply glad to see Roseclan growing stronger than ever.

In the end, the two didn't end up finding any herbs whatsoever, but they did find another clan member and a magpie that Junipercloud had dispatched. The tom seemed to be feeling a tiny bit better after the day's events, and even though Snowbird's heart ached for him still, it's all she could ask for. +1 magpie, +2FP, +2xp

Luckycharm and Creamflower padded through the wildflowers, both of them breathing in the peace of the world around them. Creamflower, with an excellent nose for herbs, ended up finding some deadly nightshade and decided it'd be better to take it back to camp rather than leave it. The she-cat carefully placed the berries in a bay leaf for easy transportation, with her sister watching fretfully and doing her best not to micromanage the endeavor. The herb had 'deadly' in its name for a reason, after all. +1 deadly nightshade, +1xp

Once they had the herbs and continued on their way, Luckycharm ended up finding some scraps. She was a little dejected she hadn't found prey instead, but food was food, right? +1 scraps, +1 FP, +1xp

The fox left. Milo finally allowed himself to breathe, his heart pounding through his chest. For a moment he'd forgotten predators existed. His forest was bountiful and lovely, yes, but dangerous as well. He'd have to be more careful. When the tom finally gathered his wits and courage, he once again headed into the trees. His stomach would start growling soon.

After awhile Milo eventually stumbled across some scraps and buried them to take back to camp later. Milo didn't find anything else during his patrol, but he did become more mindful of the world around him. As the sun began to set, the tomcat gathered up his scraps and headed home. +1 scraps, +1FP, +1xp

Wrenclaw flexed his muscles, the warm spring air rousing his curiosity about what was happening on the outskirts of his clan's territory. nothing fun ever seemed to happen during the winter months, so hopefully there would be an interesting catch to be made or scent to follow.

he wisked around, hoping to spot larkwing in the camp clearing. and, to his surprise and relief, he saw her right away. it looked like she was about to rip off her own pelt having to sit in camp with nothing to do! "larkwing and .. uh.. goldengaze- let's go on a patrol!" larkwing's head shot up and she sprinted right over, while the other cat wrenclaw had called took their time. goldengaze, though having had grown up in the clan, was probably the slowest cat in the group. they always seemed to take their time making sure everything was a-okay. even if it was just some sort of funky herb that they needed to inspect, for whatever reason.

secretly, wrenclaw hoped that picking goldengaze would mean that larkwing would slow down and they would have a chance to talk. he admired her strength and absolute power when she spoke. everyone assumed she would replace cedarfang as next leader. "let's head toward the farms, there's probably some mice or rabbits out there",she meowed as soon as goldgaze had stepped close enough to hear. the group all seemed to nod together at once and headed out.

Terrifying as the experience was, Milo was thankful he had ran into he fox. He'd been bounding around like a little wide-eyed kit, tail waggling behind him. As oblivious and naive as ever, Milo. Great. From that point on, he was more careful. He treaded lightly. The forest was his now, but really, no one could claim such a beautiful thing. The forest also belonged to the foxes. The forest belonged to hawks. The forest belonged to mountain lions. There were even dangers he couldnt imagine. So, yes, he was thankful for the reminder. Of course, he was more thankful he wasn't eaten! (104 words)

Shoreclan

She heard a quiet rustling in the bushes behind her and turned her head, seeing a pair of eyes staring at her. "You can come out," Shellstar called to them gently and they obliged. She smiled and told them, "If you'd like, you can join my group of cats known as Shoreclan." The cat nodded their head.

On the way back, Shellstar heard a small splashing noise and headed over to the shore. Water droplets sprayed everywhere, and she didn't mind when they landed in her fur. She saw a small fish that had gotten caught between the rocks and watched it flounder for a few moments, then giving it mercy. Shellstar killed it swiftly and picked it up, intent on bringing it back to camp. Some of the cats might think of it as a tasty treat.

Despite this, she couldn't help but feel hopeless and desperate at the thought of another patrol without finding herbs. Cloverflame would be angry at this. Perhaps she'd have to send him out later since he was better at finding them.

Shellstar returned to the camp with the cat and set the fish down onto the prey pile, encouraging the starving feline to have something to eat. While they did, she padded over to Stormswirl and asked, "Will you go on a patrol with me?" She nodded her head in the direction of the new cat and smiled softly.

"It looks like we have more mouths to feed," Stormswirl mused and led the way out of camp.
