Buttermilk: Koromo
Prompt:
Koro beamed proudly excited to see what will become of her sprout, it was getting so big but she still wasn't sure what it was yet. She really wanted to know so badly but at the same time she wanted to be surprised it was hard to decide which she wanted more. She sighed letting herself relaxed before she came over to Sorrel gently and smiled thoughtfully and blinked curiously, "Hey Sorrel what is your favourite plant?" She asked curiously, "Oh! Yes of course I will tell you what mine is because that is only fair. So my absolutely favourite plant is a flower actually and it is called Ipheion! Or ah... the Spring Starflower or up... the White Star I have also heard it be called. I really love it because it reminds me of my own little star marking. S-So ah.. that is why it is my favourite I suppose." She said, "Oh ah... if it is okay! I'd also really like to know if I can have a hint about my plant? I am really curious about it!" She hummed gently.
(184)

Extra 1:
Koro blinked as Sorrel took it away, she sighed softly as she wandered the greenhouse and blinked surprised to see the clipboard just sitting there again as Sorrel was carrying off a more heavy plant, "Ooooh!" She said excitedly she always wanted to know what was on it. She curiously picked it up and gazed upon it gently and gasped surprised, it seemed to be a list of every plant that was in the greenhouse! She shook her head, "O-Oh no!" She said and looked away softly before she glanced back at it, "Ooooooh... I could find out what mine is!" She said excitedly before she hesitated, "O-Oh but Sorrel would be so mad if I did and I know she so does want to surprise me..." She said gently before she tilted her head, "But... I really want to know." She said before she shook her head and placed down the clipboard, "Nope, I will not spoil it..." She said.
(161)

Extra 2:
Koro jumped when she heard Sorrel's voice right behind her, "A-Ah!" She said, she must have finished carrying the plant and came back for the clipboard, "I-I'm so sorry!" She sobbed sadly as she turned to Sorrel. "I didn't mean too, I just wanted to know what was on it... b-but ah! Don't worry really! I didn't look at it completely promise! I didn't look at what mine is so I can surprised, I only read like the title and one or two plants when I realized what it was. Honest! I didn't spoil myself! Oh please forgive me Sorrel." She practically begged her. "I- am sorry please don't be mad Sorrel, is there anything I can possibly do to make up for it?" She asked. She did not handle confrontations well and she was terrible at lying so usually just crumbled under the pressure. She perked her ears gently, "O-Oh ah how about I help you move some of the heavy pots? I don't mind a little hard work." She said softly.

    Buttermilk: Crowley
    Prompt:
Your buttermilk should go talk to Sorrel about their favorite plant and why it's their favorite plant. Maybe they can try to get some hints about their little growing friend while they're at it?

let the record show that the opinions expressed below are not indicative of how much I, paopu, love Sorrel Crowley's just a butthead

Crowley was pretty much done with Sorrel actually. She hadn't been helpful before so why would she be now? If she wanted to chat she would have to come to them. Otherwise Crowley was going to figure out this plant on his own. They found themselves vaguely hoping it was a devil's backbone. Those were cool plants, if not perhaps a bit on the nose for their aesthetic. They didn't think it was likely though - the leaves were all wrong for that.
    82 words

    Bonus 1:
Will your buttermilk go snooping for the clipboard to try to find out what plant they have? Does your buttermilk usually have a penchant for snooping, eavesdropping, and /or thieving?
Oh there's a clipboard is there? Excellent. Time to slip on by and take a little peak. Crowley was not new to this game. Their whole life they've been well aware of the power of knowledge and, well, yes, obtaining it was maybe a bit of a weakness for them. Between the information they themselves needed and the information a certain angel occasionally desired they had gotten very good at many of the arts required to steal such things.
    79 words

    Bonus 2:
Does your buttermilk try to play it off, or do they admit why they're sneaking around? If your
buttermilk chose not to sneak around and snoop, what are they looking around the greenhouse for? Tell me about
how your buttermilk typically handles sticky situations and confrontations - are they able to talk their way
out of them with smooth words, or do they crumble and admit to everything?

In this particular case, Crowley had no issue owning up to their methods. They have never been the type for apologies either though. Sorrel was withholding information intentionally and that was something that Crowley had no issues being unapologetic about. Not to mention, despite being a decent liar, they're not particularly fond of doing so. If they can avoid it, they will. Besides what was this heifer gonna do? Worse case scenario she threw them out of the greenhouse, which, well, her lost honestly.

Buttermilk: Bloom
Prompt:
Bloom arrived at the warm, humid greenhouse anxious to see how much her plant had grown this time. Today, she came a little bit later in the day after trying to do some research into what her plant might be. She approached the plant, and was overjoyed to see that it had grown a lot more, and was fairly big now! It had seemingly been only a few days since she planted the little seeds into the soil. Bloom was grateful to Sorrel for giving her further direction on how to care for the plant, even if she wouldn't tell her what exactly it was growing into. Because of this, she decided not to pester her anymore about it.

The flop-eared cow continued to care for her not-so-little plant as Sorrel had instructed, but when she was done for the day she wasn't quite ready to leave the greenhouse. Instead, she decided to go and talk with Sorrel for a bit, so after looking over her plant once more and nuzzling it gently, she trotted off to go find the heifer.

Once Bloom had found her, they engaged in conversation, mostly about plans. How shocking. Sorrel was talking about her favourite plants before asking Bloom about hers. She didn't need to think for more than a few seconds before she began, "Well, I would have to say that my favourite flower is a rose." She hadn't been entirely sure why until Sorrel curiously asked her and she gave it some thought. "I think maybe because it was one of the first flowers I came to know the name of, and I think their reputation is interesting compared to most. They are known to be romantic and are also used in many different metaphors. It's just fascinating to me how so much character can be put on one type of flower," she continued.

"I like all the different colours they can come in, and I also love the idea that they represent," she rambled, "such a beautiful flower, representing good, while having a stem covered in thorns, representing some bad. In some ways, it can be similar to a yin-yang." She paused for a moment, contemplating, "But you can also look at it in a different way. That maybe some things, while they are beautiful and you may want them, are sometimes better approached with caution or left alone unless you want the consequences. Much like how you shouldn't pick roses from a bush full of thorns without some protection, or better yet, not at all. I like that about them. I don't know any other flower that tells a story quite like a rose does."

"Sorry for rambling," Bloom's cheeks blushed pink, she didn't mean to go on so much and was sure Sorrel had become bored. The two plant-loving cows continued to talk for a while longer before Sorrel had to go to continue tending to her plants. After she departed, Bloom took to wandering the greenhouse again. She had been so preoccupied caring for her plant that she never had a chance to fully explore the building. Upon turning a corner she noticed a clipboard sitting on a pot, maybe Sorrel left this by accident? She sauntered over to it just as she heard the familiar voice behind her again, "Where did I put that?"

"Oh! I didn't mean to leave that out, silly me!" the other heifer said, snatching up the clipboard and disappearing again. The title had read "Greenhouse Volunteer Plants", that must have the answers! As much as Bloom's curiosity was killing her, she ultimately decided against snooping for it, instead choosing to respect Sorrel's privacy. Besides, it wasn't fun when you spoiled a surprise someone was planning. Besides that, Bloom just always had a weird feeling whenever she even considered doing something like eavesdropping or being nosey, it just felt wrong.

As she continued her wandering, a voice called behind her, "What are you doing?" It was Sorrel again. "Uh, I-" Bloom stammered, turning around slowly to face her, "I hope you're not trying to spoil the surprise!" "I- I'm not! I just wanted to look around the greenhouse some more and admire your work. I haven't gotten to see much of the building," Bloom stumbled over her words. She hoped it sounded believable and wasn't going to get in trouble for something she wasn't doing, it was the truth after all. Bloom had just wanted to see the variety of plants that Sorrel was creating. She tended to have great curiosity when it came to plants in general.

"Alright then, carry on," Sorrel said with a smile. Phew. Bloom had never been good with confrontation. She wasn't a troublesome cow and hardly ever got into or caused trouble, but somehow she found herself in confrontational situations in which she was being accused of something she didn't do. Or maybe it just felt that way. Whenever this happened, she was like a deer in the headlights.

Bloom didn't want to cause any more issues and didn't want Sorrel to be paranoid or anything over her surprise, so she decided that it was time to start heading home for the day, and that's just what she did. After passing by and checking on her plant once more, she left through the door, feeling a little jumpy. But her mind continued to wander through the greenhouse.

Buttermilk: Abby
Prompt: Abby's keen to find out what Sorrel's keeping from her. She wants to ask about what Sorrel's got in mind- what if it was Abby's favorite plant? What if it was her favorite flower- as it was already known to be a flower? Smiling quietly at the little buds, the young girl sighs and stares dreamily. What if it were a poppy of sorts- her favorite types of flowers. Maybe it was something that would eventually grow even into one of those california poppies? The yellow-orange ones that bloom into large fields that blanket the entire mountain side in a good year for the flower. "So... is there any way you could give me even the slightest hint of what it could be... maybe? Oh, I would really love if it could turn into a poppy... that's my favorite type of plant" the young girl tries with her might, hoping that she could swindle the other into giving in. [159 words]

extra one:
When no answer is given, Abby immediately goes to look for her own hints. She has definitely snuck around quite a bit in her youth, easily getting herself into quite the lot of trouble whenever she would go looking around for whatever her parents were hiding from her. Of course, this time was no different as she began searching for that pesky clipboard... [63 words]

extra two:
"oh uh- I was just looking for some more feed for the little plant!" Abby is quick to play it off, eager to get out of the situation with some smooth talking. She's definitely been in a sticky situation with her parents before and has gotten exceptionally good at playing off whatever was going on as if nothing was happening. She was a good liar to be honest- or at least- one without a conscious. [75 words]

    Buttermilk: Hanahaki
Prompts: Hanahaki struggled with choosing a favorite plant, to be honest. He loved all plants, including the prickly ones. But his favorite had to be a simple iris. He wasn't much of a big, extravagant man and decided that something sweet and simple would bode over well with him. It was a top of the head choice as well; there's a lot of other plants that he adores with his whole heart. In fact, it's somewhat unfair that he was only allowed to pick one! Hanahaki loves various house plants as well, such as spider ferns, monstera and other sweet things to litter the house with when you don't have children or pets to worry about.
He clicked his tongue slightly, talking to Sorrel and explaining his lifelong fascination with his plants. Alas, as much as he wanted to talk, he had to get back home to water his sweets! As a final parting note with his goodbye, he bid her farewell and added: "I think I decided that I'm going to be naming my plant Swiss as well, instead of the original name." [183W]

Buttermilk: Thalia
Prompt:
"My favorite plant?" Thalia echoes, looking thoughtful. "In all honesty, I... have said this before, but I really don't know much about plants. Asking me about stuff like this will not yield a helpful answer, I can assure you of that."

"Although... I really do like the tulips my mom has planted back at our barn. Those are nice, colorful flowers. My little plant seems to have lighter colored buds, though- I don't know if white tulips are a thing; Beverly just has red and yellow ones at home. Are white tulips a thing? Does anyone here have white tulips? Could my plant be a white tulip, huh?"

Operation: fishing for hints... not going so great.

    - - - - -

Thieving? Eavesdropping? Certainly not! Thalia liked to think she was pretty honest as far as those things were concerned. Although in this instance... she couldn't deny that her curiosity had been piqued. It wasn't as though knowing the name of the type of plant she had would really serve to illuminate anything for her- she still didn't know much about flower types.

But if she could find Sorrel's clipboard... purely for informational purposes, she told herself. Maybe she'd learn a bit about the gardener's organization system! Yeah, that sounded totally innocent and fine.

Not. Upon further reflection, Thalia decided against it. She wasn't the most subtle of cows, and would rather not do anything to upset Sorrel at this point. best to just wait it out, she decided.

Buttermilk: meadowlark
Prompt: 162 words
"Oooh my favorite plant? It's quite hard for me to pick just one, there's so many lovely options, you know? I think because one of my favorite colors is purple, I've always preferred purple flowers. Crocuses are some of my favorites because they always signify the coming of spring. I'm not much of a winter girl, much too cold, and no flowers. When I see those little flowers peeking through the snow, I can't help but get so excited! I know they don't really mind the cold, but uh, does my plant... mind the cold? C'mon Sorrel, I'm begging you for a hint at this point!" She groaned, just wanting to know what was in store. She had a guess, but Sorrel really was not giving her anything to go off of. With a disgruntled huff, Meadowlark grabbed her pot in the most menacing way that someone so small could grab a lovely pot of flowers, and marched off impatiently.

Buttermilk: Carmie
Prompt: (normal prompt + both extras)
Carmie had gotten an idea whilst talking to her plant, which had grown a nice amount. Carmie slowly walked up to Sorrel, smiling slyly. "Hey, Sorrel!"
The heifer turned around. "Hmm?" She said.
Carmie grinned. "I just thought I'd tell you about my favorite plant!"
Sorrel nodded and turned back around to tend to a large, leafy plant that Carmie didn't recognize. "W-well, it's actually a flower. I really adore the Dahlia flower! Just the way it puffs up and the amount of variety and all the pretty color combos it can come in..."
Carmie realized that Sorrel wasn't giving away any hints. She just kept nodding and smiling sweetly. Carmie tried one more thing.
"Yep, Dahlia flowers are pretty amazing. I was wondering if you'd given any specific seeds to the greenhouse visitors? Like, say, cornflower seeds, marigold seeds, sunflower seeds, or even dahlia seeds?" Carmie watched Sorrel's face for any sign of a response, and from the corner of her eye she spotted a clipboard with the with the bolded letters 'Greenhouse Volunteer Plants' at the top of the paper that was in the board. Sorrel suddenly jumped in front of Carmie before the heifer got to read a letter. Sorrel held the clipboard close to her, front faced away so Carmie couldn't read the words. "Oh! I didn't mean to leave that out, silly me!" And she started walking away. Carmie frowned. Sorrel then turned back and said, "And about the flower question- I'm sorry, Carmie, but I can't give you that information." The heifer bustled off, leaving Carmie to stand there and think.
Carmie sighed, turning and walking back to her pot after seeing Sorrel head off to the far corner of the greenhouse. As she entered into the row of Farmer's Market participant plant pots, the clipboard caught Carmie's eyes. Any effort Carmie's brain made to make her keep going towards her plant failed, and Carmie's eyes roved down the paper slowly. The names of several cows she had never even heard of came whispering from her mouth as she attempted to find her own, but she prevented herself from looking at the seed and/or plant names on the paper. She wasn't snooping. She was just curious. It wasn't a spoiler since she would find out eventually, right? Right!?
Carmie heard footsteps from behind and then a confused voice, "What are you doing?" and almost fell forward, but caught herself just in time. The heifer turned slowly, anxiety tying knots in her stomach.
Carmie didn't have to see the look on Sorrel's face before words started tumbling from her mouth. "Oh Sorrel! I'm so sorry! I was just heading back to my plant and, oh- I couldn't stop myself! Please forgive me! Please, I'll do anything! The board just caught my eye and I couldn't stop reading but- I didn't find my name, and I didn't look at the name of anybody else's plant. I promise, I swear!" Carmie felt like combusting. She felt so incredibly guilty.
Sorrel looked at her with kind eyes. She grabbed the clipboard and put it on another table, face down. "Ah, Carmie, it's okay. You sound so desperate, but don't worry. I trust you on your word."
Carmie looked up at Sorrel, sniffling. "R-really?" She asked.
Sorrel nodded. "Yup. But..."
Carmie groaned inwardly. There was always a 'but'.
"You have to promise that you will never attempt to look at this clipboard again, no matter how curious you get."
Oh. That wasn't too bad. "I promise!" Carmie said enthusiastically.
"Good. Now go to your plant."
Carmie nodded eagerly and quickly ran down the row to her plant. Watering it immediately and saying, "I'll be proud of whatever you grow into, I promise, little plant."

Buttermilk: Emma
Prompt:
Emma trotted her way up the path to the greenhouse earlier than usual. "Good morning Sorrel!" She cooed. "Can you believe it's already almost time for the farmer's market to close up for the year? I can't." Sorrel nodded, "Crazy, it seems to go by faster and faster every year." After a long silence, Emma cozied up on the floor against a wall, and pondered her plant. "What's your favorite plant? Mine is poppies. They're so vibrant, yet so dark and rich. Have you ever seen a poppy field in June? My oh my is it a sight to see." Emma smiled just thinking about it. After a pause she continued "You know, I don't even mind that I don't know what my plant is going to grow into... I kind of like the mystery of it. I wish I had some idea just for care purposes, but I think you'd hop in if you thought I was going to jeopardize it's safety..." She trailed off again, lost in thought. "Anyway, I'm going to read to my plant now." Pulling Stellaluna from her satchel, she began to ready it aloud to her plant, and the little ceramic rabbit. (198)

Buttermilk:Antheia
Prompt:
DAILY -
Antheias plant seemed to be growing very big - Sorrels directions must have helped quite a bit. Sorrel might not have told Antheia what she was growing, but she certainly made sure that the plant reached it full potential. Antheia was still unsure what it was, though maybe she should go look for Sorrel and talk to her. She walked through the green house looking for Sorrel, although certain plants would distract her from her main task here and there. Walking through the greenhouse felt like a maze of beauty, it consumed her. Her eyes came across Sorrel who was hunched over burying seeds into a pot full of soil. "S-Sorrel.." Antheia spoke softly not wanting to disturb her. Sorrel turned around smiling, she stood up dusting her hands off on her pants which already seemed to have dirt on them. This made Antheia smile.

"Antheia, hello. What can I do for you?"

Antheia looked everywhere but Sorrel, "I was hoping I could talk to you about my favorite plant?" Sorrel nodded with a intrigued look in her eyes. "Well, my favorite plant is a Lilac tree. Even if that isn't what my plant turns out to be I'll still love it! But, uhm.. It was my moms favorite and then I ended up adapting the interest for it. It's such a pretty color in all honesty. The smell it gives off and so sweet and just draws you in to smell the flowers. They can also get super tall!" Antheia held her hand up as high as she could as well as standing on her tippy toes to give it more height.

EXTRA 1 -
Antheia was visiting the greenhouse when she noticed a clipboard lying down on top of an empty pot. Sorrel appeared seconds later, snatching the clipboard quickly so that Antheia couldn't read what was written. "Oh! I didn't mean to leave that out, silly me!" she mumbled, offering a sheepish smile before disappearing among the plants again. Antheia managed to make out a few words though - 'Greenhouse Volunteer Plants' was written at the top of the list. Maybe that's how sorrel was keeping track of what plants everyone seemed to be growing?

Antheia couldn't stop thinking about the clipboard. She wasn't the type to go snooping for answers but she really wanted to know that her plant was, she hated secrets a lot. Antheia kept thinking, could there be a way to find out her plant without the clipboard? Should she just wait instead? So many questions crossed her mind. Maybe she could just wander the greenhouse and if she came across the clipboard then she could sneak a peak? Antheia decided it was best to leave this stone unturned although she did want to see the others plants and how they've grown. If she just happened to see the clipboard again then maybe, just maybe she could look.

EXTRA 2 -
Antheia was looking through the greenhouse, her mind was still on the clipboard but she knew to leave it. She was trying her hardest to focus on other things. She didn't want to get in trouble or make Sorrel upset. "What are you doing?" a voice came from behind her. Antheia did not have to turn around to know it was Sorrels voice. She sounded more confused and curious that demanding or upset.

Antheia turned around to face Sorrel, "Oh me?" Antheia point to herself, she didn't want to get in trouble. "Well, I'm just..well you see... I was just going to look at the plants the others got. I wanted to try to guess what they were." Antheia nodded, agreeing with herself but internally screaming for sounding so stupid.

Sorrel look at Antheia and squinted but then cracked a smile, "Okay! Well I don't think any of the people who helped me put there plants in this area. Here let me take you to the others." Sorrel grabbed Antheias hand softly and walked her through the plants to where many terracotta pots sat, all filled with soil and a plant sitting in the middle.
