We looked up
At the same sky
the same clouds
nestled under the
same blanket of stars-
though now we are
a heaven apart,
you're on the moon
and I down below.

The nights where it wanes
I reach out for you.

To feel the brush

I feel closest to
you when it's full,

what does this cow really like about nighttime?: The vastness of space and the beauty of each star, miles upon miles away glistening for all of us without a care in the world or a flicker of spirit.

what does this cow really like about nighttime?:
"The night is known for it's peace and tranquility, for its often restful and renewing spirit. For me, it was more than you could imagine. When I was a kid, he worked nights. He left at 7 and didn't come home until the next morning around the same time. Since I was in school, I didn't have to be home much in the daytime, and I would go to friend's houses whenever I could get the chance. It was like a game of hide and seek, where I always hid and he was always seeking.
But at night, I could come back to my home. I could walk through the door with no fear, crawl into my bed for a few hours of real sleep, dream of a time when I wouldn't have to cower away. Hope that it would end someday soon."

Willow grew up in a household full of fear. But the nighttime was when she could be left in peace, to sleep and dream, to do what she wanted to do without watching for someone sneaking up behind. At night there was rest, a break from the weariness of the light, darkness to wrap around her like a blanket. Night was her happy place, and remains so today.

what does this cow really like about nighttime?:
Nith by trade, is a map maker. They travel far and wide, marking their way as they go, creating beautiful traditional maps. Their favorite mode of navigation is by using the stars and their favorite thing to map is the sky itself. There's just something about documenting the stars as they move across the sky that is fascinating to them and, for whatever reason, being able to look up and know exactly where they is very calming to them.

Starlight, starbright,

buona notte, little one
today wasn't very good,
but now that the stars are out
you can hide away and stay safe

there are no harsh rays
no bright, revealing light
just the stars and gentle moon
just as the tide breathes in
and moves back out,
your body will, too
but for tonight you will have time to heal

as with all things, like the cycle
of the rising sun and setting sun
this too will come full circle, but
until you believe that
until you are brave enough to try again
the night will protect you
give you a moment's rest
