which orphan?: left
name(s): Lark
gender(s): Male
prompt answer(s):
Lark stared at the large house before him. Should he enter, run away, or just stand there? Life was so much easier when others made his decisions for him.
...
The furthest back in time Lark can remember, he was seemingly alone. Well, not completely alone since he had his friend by his side. They were both orphans but Lark thought of his friend like a sibling. His friend was so similar, so relatable, so friendly, and always there for him. They used to stare out the window watching the clouds move overhead and make out animals and shapes on sunny days. When it would rain, they’d open the window and stick out their paws to feel how cold the rain was while laughing. They did seem to both prefer cold temperatures over warm temperatures. At night they’d share the same blanket while starring out the window at the stars, wondering what the outside world is like. Their orphanage was pretty nice despite the strict rules. The food was good, the people were nice, and the building was cozy. The only problem was no orphan could leave the building unless instructed and supervised which was once every other week. It seemed that while in this building, Lark couldn’t make his own decisions since he didn’t get to chose what he ate and what he did (since there was a schedule). At least he’d always have his best friend. They even planned to be adopted by the same person and live together!
...
That was until his best friend’s dream family adopted him since they only chose to adopt one Ryka. Lark remembers saying goodbye to his best friend and promising that they’ll meet up when he gets adopted. It took a bit longer than expected but here he is, standing in front of his new home with his new owner and friend beside him. He now had freedom to do what he wanted and to go where ever he wanted. But now what? He didn’t know what to do. He thought about his best friend and what they did when they were in this situation. With a deep breath he took a step forward, then another. Slowly he made his way to the open door which his owner was holding open for him. He took a step inside and gasped. It was the home that he and his best friend dreamed of living in. If only he was there to explore this place with him. What’s so bad about meeting new friends though?
