She regretted trusting the birds.
At a young age, she'd fallen in love with their wings; how gracefully they flew, and how much strength such feeble parts contained! Foolish and naiive, maybe, yet she was young, and her name had been "Bird;" how was she not to love the very beings that gave her such a lovely name?
With little whispers, they whisked her away from Hiraeth into the sun-touched mountains of "Eo'ias." Se'chi had brought with her berries wrapped in large leaves native to the Banana trees Hiraeth held so fondly, to which, she had brought no end of pain by stealing their healthy leaves. In the drought of summer, only their freshest leaves kept their entire being alive with the trunks help.
In the end, it hadn't mattered.
Se'chi, or "Chiiu," as the birds sung, wouldn't, and couldn't be deterred. Only the loss of a singular life - her own - could have ended these sightless, but not unsung journeys she made with the daylight beaming atop her. It felt like a smile, a welcoming beckon to join, the sunlight that is. "Come and play, Chiiu~" It whispered, petals crossing her path with the guidance of none but wind himself.
...and she did. Like the fool she'd played her entire life, she fell prey to the very forces that'd taken her parents. They'd passed with silent saccharine smiles, fur shimmering with unshed tears, though this, she wouldn't realize until it was far too late for her. Chiiu climbed with the birds, translucent torn wings outspread as if to match her friends, and her head lifted high towards the sky, berries messily marring her muzzle. Blind from sun, wind, and her own foolish nature, she missed the whistling whines of the birds, their eyes glinting with greed.
Sunpaths later, her greed would outnumber their own. Her claws stained with the ripest berries, and eyes narrowed with an almost fatal frost, she overtook them - outgrew their rules, their rhymes, and their bloodless battles. Chiiu knew no regret, only the burning heat in her stomach craving more. Like a dragon from tales beyond, the mountains became her cavern of call; her misplaced memories misted and memoralized only in the stains she dragged behind her.
Although she was no killer of being, she was a wakeless wonder. Deep in her conscious, she regretted this change, having loved her fun-loving self, and ignorance; knowing nothing had been a bliss of its own, spending days recounting stories she'd been told, but having lived none of it herself to put emotion to it. No, those were stains of the past, while she was the stain of the present. Beautiful, though her harm to the nature around her was far from the epitome of grace she'd aspired to be.
Perhaps that was her true regret; hearing an echo from those far beyond the birds, forces flying far less feebly than the rest.
If only, she had stuck with the birds, and the banana's.
If only, it were only leaves and berries staining her paws.
