Euphorian Thoroughbred #431

Postby acadicus » Fri Jan 10, 2020 4:13 pm

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings. Everything else about the sub-type is the same. Long, strong legs, a powerful hind, and great speed. Their eyes are soft and the breed is incredibly smart, if not a bit goofy. They love kids and have the rare ability to excel in any discipline. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Some of these horses will come with a little training already, and will have their new discipline already determined. Although others you’ll get to pick how they move forwards!

Show Name: ARR I Will Carry You
Barn Name: Ruelle
Gender: Mare
Age: 5 years
Height: 16.1 hh
Halter: Rose gold with white buckles
Discipline: Show jumping
Competition: Ruelle's biggest regret is not taking advantage of the bond she had with her grandsire, her mother's father. A show jumping champion, he knew all of the tips and tricks to train better and push the barriers on her jumping prowess. Their line has always had an unbelievable talent for any kind of jumping, showing unsurpassed skill and potential, but it was the horses' intelligence that pushed them over the edge to becoming one of the most sought after Euphorian bloodlines. The stable that this line comes from always allows their foals to stay with their parents until they're a year, then usually at least 6 months of their training so they can learn all of the tricks and trials before they move on to their new homes, where they'll continue to teach their foals and grandfoals if given the chance.

A younger Ruelle was so confident in her abilities that she often found herself daydreaming of her future trophies, instead of listening to her grandsire like the rest of her siblings and half siblings. That hit her hard on her first day of training when she absolutely flopped, knocking down poles and misjudging her strides. She did so poorly, in fact, that the stable trainer said she had absolutely no talent at all! She quickly snuck out of her pasture that night to speak to her grandsire, who was on in years and couldn't move around as well as he used to. She was terrified that he would be angry and deny her, but being the doting stallion that he was, he began to coach her privately, and in no time she was outshining all of her siblings, soaring over the highest jumps and running flawless rounds with ease. It was just before her sale to Amethyst Ridge that he passed away, and though she made up for lost time in the end, she always regrets not spending her younger years listening to and bonding with the stallion that she looked so strikingly similar to, crescent moon and all.

But, whenever she feels sad, she just stops and thinks of the moon shining in the sky and on her forehead, and it makes her feel like he's still right there with her.

Show Name: Farewell Ruins of the Moon
Barn Name: Aria
Gender: Mare
Age: 8 years
Height: 15.3 hh
Halter: Maybe some galaxy colors if that's not too much? That or just have fun with it yourself!
Discipline: show jumping
Competition: If Aria could change something from her past, she would go back to the day of her first competition. She'd been training so hard, for so long, that her nerves just got the best of her. She was meant to go through her course, over jumps she'd landed perfectly thousands of times already. At the last jump, she was so sure she wouldn't make it that she just... Stalled. She nearly threw her rider with how hard she'd stopped, and her score was one of the worst in the end. Since then, she's gotten better with her nerves and she's won plenty of ribbons and titles, but she still kicks herself for just giving up on that one jump. If she could go back in time, she'd floor that last jump just to prove that she could've done it all along, even when her mind was so sure she couldn't.

Show Name: Melancholy Maze
Barn Name: Mapgpie (Aka Mag or Magi)
Gender: Mare
Age: 8
Height: 15.2hh
Halter: lavender and gold hardware, if possible c:
Discipline: eventing
Competition: if this girl could redo any part of her past, she would go back and spend more time with her parents before they passed. She was relatively young and had no idea they kept trying to spend time with her, knowing they were getting weaker and weaker by the day.
She had chose to hangout with her friends and do second year horsey things.
She missed them now that she was older and realizes what had happened. But they just wanted her happy. She would go back and hangout with them more. She would take trips with them more and go on walks more. Sleep a little closer for a little longer. Share food with a little longer. She'd cherish them more and longer.

Show Name: Marine Abyss
Barn Name: Mariana
Gender: Mare
Age: 7
Height: 16.3hh
Halter: Black
Discipline: Cross Country
Competition: Mariana has befriended many marine animals. But one thing she so desperately regrets is her first ever marine friend, still a current one, she got scared and splashed the water. She was unaware of how shallow it was for the fish, and it caused it to stay ashore unable to swim back. It shocked both of them, but Mariana helped it back into the water. She deeply regretted it, and still does, but they forgave each other and they begun to visit every 3rd day at the place they met. The friend is a medium sized tropical fish. She just wishes she didn't put one of her dear friends life at risk, and ruin one of the most special moments/times of a friendship.

Thank you!

Show Name: Reach for the Stars!
Barn Name: Stargazer, gets shortened to Star
Gender: Mare
Age:15 years old
Height:17hh
Halter:purple n blue galaxy? Something space themed ^.^
Discipline: Show Jumping
Competition: Stargazer was quite stuck up in her youth, she has done many things she regrets now but back then it was simply how she behaved.
However there has always been one thing she did that she wished she could undo or at the very least make up for.

She was a young and high spirited Thoroughbred at the time, with all the fire of hell behind her as she was quite an aggressive mare, however this little fact was never told in her sale papers as she was displayed for her athletic nature and high stamina and strong genetics etc. She was in the selling pen after having had a bad stroke of luck in her short lived racing career which simply ended in her getting traded off for another horse to replace her. She was snorting and prancing around the ring with her neck and tail high, going from a brisk walk straight into a canter and flicked her mane as she raced, strutting her stuff. There were many buyers interested in the beautiful mare, but eventually the bidding ended and she was purchased and given to a man who ran a show jumping school, who saw promise in her that most others did not. Her attitude was high and she was simply living life to her fullest, and she was damned if she was gonna do what she was told, so when she was unloading at her new property she was difficult and stubborn and made sure to speak her mind full blast to all who were near.

Eventually she was stalled and a rider came to see her, they were inexperienced and young, only 14 years old. She could sense their fear and lacking skill and, oh how she regrets it now, but she took full advantage of this fact. She ended up biting them on the hand when they tried to put her tack on, although this somehow didn't deter them from riding her. Which was a mistake. After getting tacked by a stable hand she was led out to the ring to let them get a feel for her, but lost control pretty quick, almost as soon as they spurred her towards the first lead up to a jump. She ended up in a full canter and ignored the jumps entirely, determined to scare the life out of her rider with a few well placed bucks and kicks and in general went off the hook. She cantered and snorted and the rider lost control of the reins and she ended up going chest first through a jump that had slipped her vision, and in the ensuing tumble her young rider got knocked off and fell to the dirt, but when she managed to stumble back onto all 4 hoofs she noted how her rider did not rise as well, they had been knocked out from the fall and weren't breathing.

By this time there had been quite a bit of panic and on lookers and stable hands came to the rescue, successfully catching the stunned mare who looked down at the unmoving person in surprise and guilt, as she was led away to her stall and an ambulance was called for her fallen rider. In the end they survived and made an almost full recovery, but they had badly and permenantly injured their back and broke their leg, and would no longer be able to ride again, ending their short lived dream of being a jockey one day.
Stargazer was then branded dangerous and ended up being sold from place to place, until ending up in her forever home at Dolden Dawn Acres where she was left to roam the paddocks and fields with her herd mates, and occasionally taken out to show jump (after successfully bonding to her experienced jockey who was stern and strong willed just like her and eventually mended all her flaws and turned her into an amazing and disciplined jumping horse).

If she could go back to that day and undo her past errors she would, gladly. It caused her much grief and years of transfer but knowing what she did to that young rider and how it affected them has always haunted her conscience...

    Show Name: Bayou Blues
    Barn Name: Louisiana
    Gender: Mare
    Age: 7 Years, 8 months
    Height: 16.2hh
Halter: Something nice, to compliment her colour? c:
    Discipline: Pleasure riding
    Competition:
The creak of leather, the smell of the sweat, the thunder of hooves and the adrenaline - there was nothing Loui loved more than being on the track. Thundering, shoulder-to-shoulder, at breakneck speeds alongside her rivals, her opponents... her brethren. She excelled in her training, and even took part - and placed well - in some small-town standing start races. She was to be the next big thing, and prided herself in her achievements.
Until her first big race. Her breakthrough. Her trainer, her humans, her jockey, hey, even her stable mates were excited about her debut. She can still remember, clear as day, the smells and sounds as she unloaded from the trailer, many other thoroughbreds stabled in the same building all as eager and full of thrill as she. She could barely keep still as she was tacked up rolling the bit under her tongue and shifting her hooves every couple of seconds.
Soon, the time came for her to be paraded out, and the mare thought she might explode. Walking towards the stable door with her head held high, she allowed her gait to prance and her tail to flow behind her. Soon, her ears perked at the sound of her name being announced over some ghostly, booming voice, and she couldn't keep herself on the ground. Bucking up, there were soft oohs and comments from the crowd, and she soaked it in.
She slipped into the gates without so much as a flick of her tail, barely minding the weight of the jockey on her back. Other horses, as young and inexperienced as she was, nervously approached the gates, some even refusing entry. Rolling the bit around her tongue, she waited until the shouting began, until her jockey gathered the reins, until the last second of silence before the bell chimed, signalling their release.
And, like she was floating on air, she shot out of the gates, taking a quick and easy lead. She could hear her jockey, urging her to be steady, but she didn't want to slow down, throwing caution to the wind. Her strides were long, and, as she ran for the halfway mark, they grew longer. Her jockey began to tug on her bit, urging her to slow, but she was winning. Why stop now, when things were just becoming glorious.
There is nothing she regrets more. Youth and naivete urged her to continue at her pace, but, looking back, how she wishes she had taken his advice, had slowed down. He had run far more races than she, he knew what she was doing. She was new to this.
      A fool.
With her mind on nothing but the winnings that lay ahead of her, the pride and the glory that awaited beyond the finish line, she lost track of her hooffalls, and, in a slip up that happened once in a lifetime, her hind hoof landed on her front, toe catching toe and causing her to stumble. Her nose grazed the grass beneath her feet as her legs splayed beneath her, her knee twisting beneath the combined weight of herself and her jockey forcing harshly upon the twisted tendons.
      A career ending injury.

The tendon healed, but her racing did not. The humans took her from the track, worrying that a worse injury would follow. Never again has she been pushed hard, had she been allowed to open her stride and gallop to life's fullest extent.
Oh, how she wishes she could revisit that day. To re-do that race, to win as she should have, while also listening to her jockey, who knew far more than she.

One thing Fifi wishes she could change about her past was the first 'show' she went to (It was hosted at her home stable). She had been paired with a 10-year-old rider who Fifi ended up bucking off when she kicked her in a sensitive spot on her belly. She honestly regrets this now because the girl is now absolutely terrified of Fifi to this day.

Show Name: Dark as Night
Barn Name: Lighthouse
Gender: Mare
Age: 4
Height: 16.3 hh
Halter: Purple gradient to white w/ white stars, silver hardware
Discipline: Show jumping
Competition: Lighthouse was mainly trained to withstand the sand of a beach before footing. She was only 3 when they brought her to a beach. Her and her humans would play, laugh, eat (Sometimes stuff she shouldnt), and swim in the shallow water. The reason they did this was to get her used to rough footing so it didnt affect her in the future. Lighthouse was trotting with her rider when she saw the water get rough. She ran into it, splashing, dragging her rider. A rip current began to form, pulling her rider in as lighthouse backed out. Her rider got stuck, but eventually was helped. Lighthouse remembers it and wishes she hadnt freaked out.

Show Name: Twilight Shows a New Night Home
Barn Name: Twilight
Gender: Mare
Age: 6
Height: 16 hh
Halter: White, silver hardware, small gold flecks
Discipline: Endurance
Competition:
Letting herself be caught.
Twilight started life born into the wild, as a brumby. She was easily the prettiest filly foal in her Sire's entire herd, nicer than him and her dam combined. Always dancing, always moving, always beautiful. From the crescent moon on her forehead to the star like flecks across her stomach, she was stunning. So elegant, in a way that no other horse could rival.
So when the people came to choose from her herd, Twilight was the first pick. Her long, elegant neck was trapped by rope, and the dancing hooves were led away. Admittedly, she lived a good life, always the horse at the finish line first, but never with that /freedom/ again
