The Pride celebrates the Midwinter Yule since the guardians had blessed them with this holiday.They have a massive festival as the sun starts to lengthen and the frost bitten nights start to shorten.As the cold winds whip over the mountains and into the plains it brings great clarity to the lions celebrating the midwinter yule.With snowflakes dancing on their manes and small little paw prints left behind in the snow.They all dash together to dance and sing before the massive Yule log fire.With blue face paint to represent the melting snow and ice that transforms into the beautiful Oasis and rivers in the summer they begin to exchange small wooden necklaces and accessories with blue quartz embedded in it to represent the pride’s love for the midwinter.After a few hours of more singing dancing and playing fun games they have a hearty stew of mixed scraps from the prey pile with dried herbs and juices from vegetables.As they all dig in they gaze up at the late setting sun as a pride and cuddle up together to tell their favorite midwinter tales.

E32:Baby it’s cold outside

The Lions of the Oasis Pride knows how to stay warm in the freezing temps.Since their climate is mainly either humid Summer time or just straight up winter.This year they received a for the first time a foot of snow! So the pride quickly started bustling with preparations in case of more snow was to come. The strong lions went out in search of massive branches to start fires in caves, by trees, and the clearing.The little cubs grabbed moss balls in rolled it in the snow and put it in rock bowls to melt by the fire for fresh water as the rivers and Oasis freezes over.All the lionesses band together into two parties one for hunting and one to collect medium sized rocks and one to hunt and stock up on prey and pelts. As the Pride members all returned they started clearing small patches of snow to give everyone pathways to their homes and to build bases of the fires.Soon enormous fires were built up, the moss snowballs were melting, and clean fire were laid out while the fresh kill was being stored in a back of a cave.

E31: During Nighttide the Zahur Pride has their celebrations during the night. The first celebration of the season is the First Hunt of Nighttide. This hunt is celebrated as a sign of good hunting to come during the season. Gatherings are also common at dusk and dawn every day for the pride to spend time together and keep each other warm. The most important of these celebrations is the Giving Snow. It is during this time that lions give those they care about and even those they dislike something that they made or something that they found that looked interesting. Giving Snow occurs the day after the first snow of the season or on the 13th day of Nighttide. This tradition is meant to show the gratitude each lion has for one another and the fact that they are glad to be alive and be able to have others to care about and dislike.The last day of Nighttide is spent fasting and every lion spends time together while focusing on what they have.

E32: When the weather does start to get cold the pride keeps in the dens and huddled together with those close to them. The only time lions are out and about is when they have tasks to complete. During Nighttide there is never less than two lions working on any single task. Guardians especially stay in pairs as they keep each other warm while patroling and checking in on each and every den. This is also the only time that lions can stay in dens that do not have to sleep in their designated dens, but can sleep in any den they are welcomed into. They also allow those that are exiled or are outsiders to stay within the territory as long as they have not committed murder. The Zahur Pride loves to keep warm together, even with those that may not be their favorites or lions that they do not entirely know.

when snow falls and cold plagues the land, it isn't frowned upon. it is said adonai gives his wife skadi a few months for celebrations of her own, even the strongest of pairs need time apart. for this particular celebration, they worship (mainly) two gods; yela and skadi. the water goddess and the moon goddess. the celebration is called 'la lune et l'eau', the moon and the water, or moon and water. the celebration is every night for 13 days until the real celebration, held on christmas eve's night (they do not celebrate christmas). if it doesn't snow the celebration is held off until it does. the snow is a sign of yela and skadi's thanks for the gifts and prayers they've received. the night after the celebration they give gifts around, especially to the little ones, and go on a big hunt. then a feast is held for the whole pride and they celebrate everything. several games and contests are held as well.

the pride is well adapted to the warm weather, so when the cold does invade the land, it takes a little bit more to adapt to the chilly air. they push through it, some adapt quickly and some don't- the same goes for the cold snow that falls every so often. to better handle the situation, most bundle up in the far corner of the caves in the outcrop closest to the ground. huddling together for warmth. the den is lined with several pelts from their catches, though the most luxurious go to the higher dens where the king sleeps. even so, apollyon has made sure the other caves have pelts and comforts. if the rocks break or shift to make holes, they stuff it with bracken and other things you can find easily so that the cave is wind proof. the cubs will huddle in the middle and everyone will surround them. those who don't huddle in the dens play in the snow and adventure, some like the chilly weather and use the time for a much needed break and cause havoc on others. still, duties must keep going. hunters will come and go as well. no matter how cold it gets thought, speaking ill of the snow or weather is deeply frowned upon given that it is a 'gift' from yela and skadi.

Waminta is the next little holiday they tend to celebrate. It's mostly a Christmasy holiday where they take time to praise Wicasa and thank him for all he has done and continues to do. It would also be a time to give gifts, whether it is a meal, a necklace, or herbs. On the day of Waminta, the lions all tend to go to visit the native peoples and celebrate with them. Not only do they enjoy cooking the meat the lions provide, they tend to give great gifts. Gifts such as headdresses, feathers, bones, and dyes are often given in return for meats of all kinds. The children also enjoy the lions' company, often playing with them and snuggling into their manes or fur around the large fire at night.

It's a season of giving, not getting, as well as thanking the one who has given them all things under his grace and mighty love.

It's not particularly cold within the Pride of Wikimak's territory. In fact, it does seem to stay consistently warm throughout all seasons, although this time of year is cooler than all the others. Thankfully, their coats are more than ready for it. By the time Framunti is finished, they are shedding their summer coats in exchange for their winter ones, Their buffier, poofier winter coats help them to stay warm when things grow a little too cool for their liking.

Otherwise, if they continue to feel cold, they will all congregate into one den and then, practically, pile onto each other and around each other. They create a sort of dog pile and settle there, allowing their body heat to warm each other up, as well as the general den. They will probably do this every night in the cooler months, just so cubs don't get too cold and no one else gets too cold either. (156 wc)

They, in fact, celebrate their own kind of Christmas in a sort of way. It isn't exactly the same was the Christmas we ourselves know and love. Instead, it more so worships their Gods for separate holidays. During Christmas time they celebrate their God of winter, Diias. The cubs pray to him as for gifts on the day of celebration. They do this in hopes of getting toys like stick dolls or treats like various kinds of berries. Only good cubs get gifts though the bad ones simply get nothing at all. Whereas the lions and lionesses give him offerings to please him into giving them a good winter. They offer up various forms of food along with shiny rocks and shells. Almost everyone apart of the pride celebrate this great holiday. Winter is a time for the pride to celebrate being together and be thankful for the land they have been given.

During the winter months, the pride will gather moss, ivy and underbrush to help insolate their caves. Putting the moss up along the cave walls covering the cracks and crevasses. Helping from any possible cold air that would have come from them to not come at all. The underbrush goes closer to the entrance and becomes sturdier with more moss. Making almost another wall of sorts to block the cold from entering the cave. With the entrance now only big enough for an adult lion to go thru. The entrance dressed in ivy in hopes to conserve as much heat is kept in the cave. They tend to sleep closer to one another when winter does come around. The elder or young are in the middle to keep them the warmest. Near the outside are the monarchs of the pride with the rulers, leaders, or deputies on the outside. For the view that the rest of there pride is more important than them.

For the Oasis Basin pride winter isn't really celebrated as a holiday such as Christmas, but more as time for coming of age celebrations. The mountains that surround the land are home to an arrayed selection of vicious beasts. However, in the winter most of them hibernate or move into higher territories outside the range. Considered the safest time in this location it can still be a treacherous journey to those who venture close. The coming of age ceremony for those who wish to become fighters are required to stay among the peaks for one night and can only return at sunrise. Although considered the safest time to conduct these ceremonies the pride still fears that one day a member will be lost to the mountains icy clutches. Hunters are spared from these terror as their test is rather against the sparse prey that populate the realm. They are forbidden in this test to visit other clans for better hunting opportunities.

The Flame Valley Pride celebrates Christmas in its entirety! The gifts, the big meal, being around family, the lions revel in it all! The only change is that it takes place on the night of the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year!
The lions, for weeks before the winter solstice, will scour the mountains for that perfect something for their pride mates, be it a beautiful pelt or a light-catching stone to pretty up their dens, or a snack or certain berry type that is their favourite!
The hunters will be on the lookout and keep track of deer herds in the area, and, the day of the solstice, they move out on the biggest hunt of the year. With the pride being so small, they may have to enlist some of the guards to help with bringing home their massive feast. Other pride members will have gathered berries and sweet roots to enjoy after the main meal!
Some of the pride members, those whose families are close by, may return to their birth prides for the solstice, to pass the longest night in the presence of those they love!

With dens dug so deep in the mountainside, it is easy for the pride to keep themselves warm in the cool nights. The main chamber of the dens, down a short tunnel from the entrance, will be stocked high with pelts and ferns, soft rabbit pelts for those who want comfort, or thick badger hides for those who need extra warmth. And, unlike the summer evenings, where the pride will sit under the stars in the evening to pass their time and get to know each other, the pride will instead gather in the main chamber, keeping themselves warm while sharing their daily stories.
And, when they head to bed, some pride members who are close friends may choose to bunk together, gathering all of their owned pelts into one of the small dens, and will pass the cold winter nights sharing each other’s body heat. Those that are more picky about who borrows their body heat may choose to gather extra pelts, leaves, occasionally even spider webs or, if they’re lucky, cotton, to fill their dens with heat.

The Oasis Pride often times will get a sleeting mixture before the first snow of the season.Ice always lines up along the River banks and Oasis and freezes it over leaving the lions having to fend for water through boiling/melting snow.All of the foliage dies out except the massive boat and acacia trees, leaving the new growth to come into the “spring time/mini monsoon season.”The prey that remains is very little since the birds hav flown south and the mammals have moved on to warmer places while many burrow and hibernate in their homes.So the lions stock up their prey cave in warmer seasons and sun dry the meats out to preserve it.As the chilly winds kick in they have a tendency to stay in their caves unless fetching more “water” or patrolling the lands so their territory doesn’t get overthrown by hyenas or other prides.The Oasis pride spends their time plotting and mapping out how their climate changes through the years.
